Voter Registration Outline - 2016

Summary

With five states voting to legalize adult-use marijuana (Arizona, California, Nevada, Maine and Massachusetts), and as many as five additional states voting to legalize medical marijuana, it’s imperative that we focus our attention on utilizing our strength in numbers to mobilize support for pro-marijuana initiatives and/or candidates across the country.

In order to accomplish this, the first thing we must do is to make sure supporters of these initiatives are registered to vote. Time and time again, voters are denied the right to vote simply because they moved, but never updated their voter registration. This year must be different.

In addition to the numerous initiatives being considered by voters, we’re encouraging our supporters to utilize NORML’s 2016 Congressional Scorecard to guide them as they weigh their options this November. We are planning to release a revised version on Tuesday, September 27, 2016.

Action:

  • Execute voter registration drive
  • Promote NORML’s 2016 Congressional Scorecard
  • Share the “NORML Voter Registration Drive” image to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram and use the #NVRD and #smokethevote hashtags to promote our efforts.
