Criminal Defense Lawyers

Criminal defense attorneys please consider joining the NORML Legal Committee (NLC). With a marijuana-related arrest every 43 seconds, marijuana smokers, their family and friends need access to competent and compassionate legal assistance.

For 30 years, NORML has provided to its supporters, as well as the general public, a comprehensive and updated listing of NLC members.

Also, NLC members enjoy a reduced registration cost at NORML's legal defense seminars. NORML NLC legal seminars are held annually in Key West, FL as well as other locations. The seminars qualify for continuing legal education (CLE) credits.

NORML's Political Action Committee (PAC) Fund

The NORML political action committee (NORML PAC) was established in 2001 as a separate segregated fund of NORML, to provide a mechanism whereby NORML can raise money for the purpose of contributing it to cannabis-friendly candidates for public office, at all levels of government. The NORML PAC is independent of and not affiliated with any political party or candidate, and is managed by the offices of NORML. 2002 was the first year The NORML PAC distrubuted donations.

The NORML PAC is believed to be the first pro pot PAC in the nation.

Those candidates or office holders wishing to solicit support from the NORML PAC should contact the PAC in writing: NORML PAC, 1600 K Street, NW, Suite 501, Washington, DC  20006-2832.

Legally, NORML can only solicit funds for the NORML PAC from NORML supporters. Those wishing to contribute funds to the NORML PAC should first donate a minimum of $25 to NORML, to qualify as a donor to the NORML PAC.

Those NORML supporters wishing to contribute for the purpose of assisting cannabis-friendly candidates, should donate online or send your check, money order or credit card information to:

NORML PAC
1600 K Street, NW
Suite 501
Washington, DC  20006-2832

All contributors donating over $50 are required to provide their name and address; those donating more than $200 must also include their occupation and employer. The maximum contribution from any individual is $1,000 to a candidate or candidate's committee per election; and $5,000 to a political action committee per election.

I'm tired of politicians supporting marijuana prohibition! I want to make a donation right now to NORML's PAC. For details, please contact NORML directly.

Other Ways to Support NORML

Stocks & Securities

Please find below the necessary information for stock transfers to the NORML Foundation.

The NORML Foundation stock account number at Charles Schwab is 1148-5495.

If you wish to transfer stock electronically to the NORML Foundation, all you need to do is to provide your broker with our DTC #: 160 Code 40. Apparently the rest is automated.

If you need to send the stock certificates themselves, they must be mailed to Charles Schwab and Co, P.O. Box 628291, Orlando, FL 32862-8291. NORML is advised that a transfer of the actual stock certificates can take up to six weeks.

If you have further questions, please call the Charles Schwab folks at 800-435-4000 or the NORML Foundation at 202-483-5500 (x107).

Wills and Estate Planning

Instead of a memorial or statue erected in your honor, why not have a lasting impact and endow NORML and the NORML Foundation to fight for individual freedom? Please consider naming NORML or the NORML Foundation as a beneficiary in your will. Bequests to the NORML Foundation are deductible for estate tax purposes.

Naming the NORML Foundation as a beneficiary of your IRA reduces both federal estate taxes and the income tax that would be paid by your heirs on the value of the contribution. However, naming any charitable organization as the beneficiary of an IRA can have other important tax consequences so it would be unwise to do so without consulting your tax adviser.

Corporate Gift Matching

In recent years, many supporters of NORML Foundation have donated via their company's gift matching program wherein the company matches your donation to the NORML Foundation, often, dollar for dollar. The NORML Foundation has thus far received matching gifts from major corporations such as Phillip Morris, Cisco Systems, Intuit, Microsoft, Sun MicroSystems and Playboy, Inc.

If your employer offers such a program, please consider naming the NORML Foundation as the recipient of your employer-matching contribution.

Again, major gifts from supporters of marijuana law reform comprise an important part of empowering the NORML Foundation to provide a voice for the millions of American adults who smoke marijuana responsibly.

If possible, please give generously to NORML or the NORML Foundation.

For your privacy, we don't share the names of our supporters.
