SENATOR LINDSEY 0. GRAHAM
SOUTH CAROLINA (202) 224--5972
WASHINGTON, DC 20510

October 15, 2003

Mr. <name withheld>,

Thank you for contacting me with your thoughts on Operation Pipe Dreams within the Department of Justice. Although I regret we disagree, I appreciate the opportunity to hear from you on this issue.

As you are aware, Attorney General John Ashcroft announced the indictment of fifty individuals charged of trafficking in illegal drug paraphernalia. According to the Department of Justice, all the defendants intentionally sold items for the illegal use of narcotics. I support the vigorous prosecution of anyone who promotes the consumption of illegal drugs, including marijuana. As such, I support Attorney General Ashcroft and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Administrator Karen Tandy in their efforts to disrupt the sale, distribution, and exploitation of prohibited drugs.

Thank you again for taking time to share your thoughts. If I may be of further assistance to you, please do not hesitate to call on me.

Sincerely,
Lindsey 0. Graham
United States Senator
