When the producer of the FoxNews program ‘Freedom Watch with Judge Napolitano‘ asked me to appear on air last week to discuss the issue of marijuana law reform, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect.
Fortunately it became clear from the host’s opening monologue that Judge Andrew Napolitano is a powerful and articulate friend of cannabis liberalization.
“The War on Drugs that the federal government has waged, and on which it has spent billions and billions of taxpayer dollars, has been a complete waste of time, money, and effort.
Take marijuana, for instance. It’s been grouped together and enforced by the Drug Enforcement Administration with real hardcore drugs like heroin, cocaine, and methamphetamine. But states like California and soon New Jersey have pretty much legalized marijuana for medicinal purposes. While the federal government contends that … marijuana has the potential to promote cancer, patients of cancer and other similar ailments actually use marijuana to fight these deadly diseases.
So wouldn’t the federal government be better off creating the incentive to empower people to make the right choice, to make their own free choice, rather than persecuting them and prosecuting them for what the feds consider to be the wrong choice?”

Now, it has been shown that THC induces apoptosis in cancer cells by reactivation of the CB1 receptor. This information that cancer was inhibited by THC was discovered and suppressed in the 70’s. It seems paraquat also induces apoptosis and coincidentally was applied to marijuana plants in the 70’s by our government.
Have the American people been subjected to a wide scale government experiment involving marijuana?

As long as the agency that has a 40 billion dollar a year budget,and over 1/2 that budget is devoted too marijuana intervention and providing false studies showing harm from marijuana,is also the agency controlling the scheduling of marijuana,it will remain as a schedule 1 drug. No bureaucratic empire has ever done anything that would reduce their budget.
As long as the pharmaceutical companies continue putting 30 million dollars an election cycle into election funds of any legislator that supports marijuana remaining illegal,the House and Senate will not remove the scheduling of dangerous drugs from the DEA and allow Medical and scientific panels to schedule the dangerous drugs.
We have created a black market so large that stopping it will require legalization and allowing people to grow their own. Only by reducing the profits will we remove these violent cartels,anything that continues prohibition,continues the black market,and the violence. It also continues underage persons being able too walk out on any corner and buy marijuana,since dealers don’t check ID’s.

FYI, Judge Napolitano’s show Freedom Watch doesn’t (YET) air nationally on TV. For now it’s internet-based.
The big shots at Fox do however keep tabs on the amount of views every episode gets. Judge Nap has stated that if enough people start watching the show on-line that that will indicate to TPTB@Fox that there’s a market for Freedom Watch on regular TV.
FW is all Judge Nap’s child and it’s 100% libertarian/constitutional/whatever. Not the typical Fox fare.
So I’d make a suggestion to all to watch the original videos (like the above one, NOT the YouTube/Vimeo/reworked/cut-out versions) to give him the view-counts.

This is a great example that the legalization issue is not a political party issue but it is an issue for your rights. As pointed out in a recent article in Marie Claire, ‘Stiletto Stoners’, marijuana smokers come in all different sexes, races, ages and yes political parties. More people like this (I do not know if Judge Napolianto smokes or not.) need to come out of the smoking closet and let their government know they want an end to this prohibition. Our lobby will not be able to compete with that of big money corporations but there is strength in numbers.

If ever there was tipping point in this entire history of prohibition is has to be close to something like this. The fact that FOX actually allowed this to air boggles my mind. I would be curious to know what kind of ratings Mr. Napolitano’s show gets just to see exactly how many conservative had their minds blown by seeing this. It’s very simple. You cannot police morality. Why do you think alcohol, tobacco, abortion, adultery, birth control, etc. are all legal? Once again, you simply cannot police morality! I am not trying to say indulging in the responsible adult use of Marijuana is immoral, but unfortunately some people do view it that way, but the statement still stands true. You cannot police morality, no matter what your views and/or morals are!

This legalization movement is taking off in a BIG way. Pretty soon politicians from either party are going to have to realize that they either remain “hard on drugs” and risk losing elections, or pass sensible Marijuana laws and still be favored by the majority.
