Barry Obama Loved Marijuana, President Obama Now Locks People Up For It

[Editor’s note: The infamous Chinese animators at New Media Animation (NMA) poke some good fun at America’s first known cannabis connoisseur president,  ‘Barry’ Obama. Watch animation here.]

New insight into the early life of Barack Obama has been recently made available in the form of excerpts from the forthcoming biography, “Barack Obama: The Story.” Apparently young Barry Obama, like countless of his contemporaries, enjoyed partaking in the use of marijuana. The president even was a trendsetter amongst his peers:

As a member of the Choom Gang, Barry Obama was known for starting a few pot-smoking trends. The first was called “TA,” short for “total absorption.”

Along with TA, Barry popularized the concept of “roof hits”: when they were chooming in the car all the windows had to be rolled up so no smoke blew out and went to waste; when the pot was gone, they tilted their heads back and sucked in the last bit of smoke from the ceiling.

He also was unafraid to go against proper smoking protocol:

Barry also had a knack for interceptions. When a joint was making the rounds, he often elbowed his way in, out of turn, shouted “Intercepted!,” and took an extra hit. No one seemed to mind.

What is clear from these anecdotes is that not only did Barry Obama try cannabis, but he was what many would refer to as a recreational user, a “stoner” if you will. Which begs the question, when exactly did Barry Obama, who participated in three foot bong hitting contests, become President Barack Obama, who laughs off the issue at town hall meetings, oversees the annual arrest of 850,000 Americans for marijuana violations, and ramps up the war against medical marijuana to new heights?

It is time the President says publicly what he already knows personally: Responsible marijuana use should not be a crime and it is time we put an end to the war on cannabis consumers.

  1. Hes not the first known cannabis-connoisseur. George Washingtons garden journal states not only that he grew cannabis sativa(might have been indica) but that he had forgotten to seperate the male and female plants before pollunation, something only done to increase potency.

  2. He should be arrested and stripped of presidency unless he denounces the marijuana laws he broke.

And to all Obama supporters who posted here that Obama wants pot legal… Are any of you guys aware of how many medicinal marijuana stores in California were shut down after Obama passed an initiative to do so in 2010??? “I guess he’s just shy about the subject because so many people are ignorant on the constitution”.. someone here said that and it just disgusted me. So he would have store owners facing federal charges because we are ignorant. There is no reason to that argument. Obama is against the constitution and is beginning to act like a dictator. The constitution is the only thing that makes prohibition illegal. Read the tenth amendment! The only person who deserves to be president is Ron Paul with out a doubt. His policies of defending our constitution and legalizing cannabis actually do show why he deserves my vote. I don’t know much about this libertarian from New Mexico even though he sounds swell, Paul deserves it more because he has been running for over 20 years for the same agenda. If he was not legitimate about it, he would have dropped it long ago. For anyone who votes for Obama this November, you are the reason why pots not becoming legal. I won’t be surprised if Obama decides to be in favor of legalization. Do you really think hes not gonna change his mind like last time. Once a hypocrite, always one. He’s not changing his mind on it, hes just lying. Besides, after what he did to California he doesn’t deserve to be re-elected because he may legalize pot. Ron Paul is a fine candidate and never was responsible for a pot smoker being thrown in jail.

  4. @ ‘Nick O’ : first off there’s no point in continuing to plug paul since he got eliminated in the primary days ago. Also, that’s all well and good, but if you truly believe obama is completely responsible for the way that marijuana is treated right now, I’ll tell ya what; just remember that and wait to see if romney wins. I’ll be here when ppl like you come running back crying when you see what someone like him, who’s raised over a billion dollars almost all of which from the same sorts of billionaires (who can essentially buy election now thanks to the ever-so-disgusting citizens united case that proves how twisted and wrong the supreme court is if there were any doubts) that have made sure weed has remained illegal, will do to marijuana laws. Just wait to see how much *he* cares about what’s best for the country vs. what makes the right ppl money.

The problem is that the grass always looks greener on the other side. I agree that obama is very, very far from an amazing choice, but when it comes to politicians you usually don’t have many choices. One would have to be truly naive to believe that paul EVER had a chance; as I’ve said many times, he doesn’t play politics. Ppl like obama and romney are where they are specifically because the changes they’re looking to make are insignificant and politically safe. There are a hell of a lot of big players who like things just the way they are, and as long as they have money and power a candidate like ron paul has no chance whatsoever.

As to the article, oh yes, obama is going to come right on out, in the stretch before an election, and make a risky statement like that marijuana should be legal. He’s already having enough trouble dealing with romney and his record-breaking campaign funds (the ones that I previously mentioned come almost completely from billionaires looking for a significant return on their investment), so it wouldn’t matter much if he came out right now and said that because if he did he wouldn’t be president much longer. Right now it’s all about pushing issues off until after election season is over (which is a smart idea, don’t get me wrong). I’m sure the fact that election season is coming up is also the reason why the issue of his marijuana use is showing up more; it’s that time again where people are looking for any speck of dirt on their political enemies’ past and throwing it into the spotlight. Still, what I said above applies; obama may not be the best candidate, but he’s a whole, WHOLE lot better than romney could ever be. Hell, I’m fairly sure it would be the end of the middle class in america should romney get elected.

I would like to say though that obama sounds like he’d be pretty chill to smoke with. I would probably get endless enjoyment out of the idea of ‘intercepting’ the j. He sounds like he was probably a pretty clever kid too, because they’re usually the ones who are constantly thinking rather than spacing out while stoned, and stoned thought usually results in coming up with stoned ideas like ‘TA’ or ‘roof hits’.

  5. Sounds like the depths of hypocrisy to me. I would much rather have an honest stoner for a president, than a clever hypocrite.

  6. @Zuke: Ron is still very much in the race, the candidate isn’t “elected” until August. Your attitude is counter-productive and should be ignored by any rational person. Your arguement for his candidacy are opinion based, lacking the kind of logic needed to sway intelligent principle-based voters from a true stalwart for freedom. Shame on you and yours.

  7. I think the Zeta gang or some other gang out of mexico has reached him and corrupted him, so that pot will stay illegal, so that mexican gangs will remain in the trillion dollar illegal businesses they are in.

  8. My days of supporting the Dems or Reps are over. They have been bought and paid for. I’m voting Lib this time. The people that do not want Romney already have Medical Marijuana (MM) in their state. Only 17 states have MM. I called Obamas campaign site and waited for over an hour on hold. I mentioned the Choom Gang, which they never heard about (must watch MSM). I told them Omama is a hypocrit for locking poeple up for that same thing he did. They wanted my name, I told them I was afraid to give it to them and I ended the call out of fear.

  9. I am ashamed to say I voted for obamma the liar. He will not recieve my vote again. dont be fooled if he will lie about pot he will lie about anything… “yea I smoked it and I enjoyed it” but still medical marrahana patients are being persicuted under his watch. what a worm. he has no honer.

  10. OK folks its time to make a stand. The only thing that can get things done is money and votes. Most of us have voting rights, some have money. Email this message to your elected officials and stand firm. Also send to like minded friends and family:
To the President, Members of the US Congress, State and local elected officials:

Criminal marijuana prohibition is a failure. Over 20 million Americans have been arrested for marijuana offenses since 1965 with over 800,000 arrests in 2010. The problem is getting worse – not because of the benign plant, but because of the obsolete laws. The time has come to amend criminal prohibition and replace it with a system of legalization, taxation, regulation, and education.

I can no longer vote for elected officials that support the the current laws. I have decided not to vote for any politician that does not publicly support the removal of all penalties for the private possession and responsible use of marijuana by adults, including cultivation for personal use, and casual nonprofit transfers of small amounts.

  11. Closet smoker here. I feel like I’m in good company on this site. I would like to think that my family is pretty typical in these United States of America.

Nine of my close relatives smoke pot. We are home owners, tax payers, mothers, fathers. One family representing a good cross section of American pot smokers. There is one smoker that isn’t represented in our family though. The smoker that can openly proclaim their love for pot without fear of some kind of reprisal ( job loss, arrest, etc.) That is why we are closet smokers.

I voted for President Obama with hopes that he would get out the crowbar and take millions of closet doors off their hinges.

The Presidents position on gay marriage evolved. I hope the same can be said for his position on pot. We can only hope that this is all about political posturing. I still have hope that freedom is on the horizon for the MILLIONS OF CLOSET SMOKERS.

Mr.President I know for a fact that the thought provoking moments of clarity that you surely experienced when the smoke had cleared from the roof top had something too do with the person you are today.

Maybe Willie Nelson isn’t the only one smoking pot of the roof of the White house?

  12. Won’t the people be looking for an answer to the leading question this article sets up: “Why?” Why is President Obama arresting people for doing something that he loved to do? I am interested in that answer.

  13. NickO: because although he may be president, he’s nothing more than a figurehead; someone to hold the office, but he’s not calling the shots.

He’s got a wife and two daughters to care about, so he has to tread carefully or something will ‘accidentally’ harm them.

  14. Puttin’ my vote behind Gary Johnson till Ron Paul either starts running as the Independent candidate or wins in August. Until then though……GARY JOHNSON 2012!!!

  15. There’s dissapointment here? If we haven’t been living under a rock for the last 7 decades we can see that everyone who has stood on his or her soapbox and proclaimed they would pass laws to decriminalize our wounderful weed has outright lied to the people of this country, and the current worthless bastard in office is no diffrent. Like everything else in this country, if you’re waiting for your goverment to help you in your efforts then you’re a fool! If you think that there is a single politician that’s going to come up with some grand illusion to make your lives better then you’re a fool! They all belong to the crap club and have no plans what so ever of passing any federal law in our favour. And it wouldn’t make any difference if the states pass their own laws the goverment is going to do what they have always done and screw the people , and that folks is reality. If you want it then come together in mass and just do it! That’s what your goverment does and it seems to work just great for them.

  16. the Obama ‘re-elect’ campaign will do ANYTHING to cash in on the Marijuana community and lead them to beleive Obama will support Marijuana in some way, thus getting their votes.

Obama will never end Marijuana Prohibition and he will not stop his closing and arresting state legal Medical Marijuana patients and dispenseries. Look at his track record and the deceit that fooled many last election. You will see that such phrases as ” Obama loved to smoke Marijuana .. ” in ANY context are nothing more than subliminally aimed messages to slowly grow a false archetype of Obama being somehow associated with Marijuana in any way other than what his actions prove.

Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate for President in 2012 who will end Marijuana Prohibition and foster the integration of Marijuana into medicine, as well as enable Hemp to be grown and used.

There is literally no point to even reading articles like this, I feel like I just wasted 10 minutes of my life over something I already know, Obama will not end Marijuana Prohibition, ever. And you will see the Medical Marijuana community continue to crumble under him.

  17. you can not lawfully own a firearm if you if you have used marijuana, but you can be president or a congressman with your finger on the trigger to nuclear weapons and access to national security secrets. these people are the height of hipocrisy, do as i say not as i do.

  18. here is simply how the fuck it is. drugs are kept illegal for the purpose of billions in sin tax revenue…while the churchfucks enjoy a tax exempt status. dont even sidewalk spit right now. the local governments are using the jails as a money mill and you will be kidnapped by the police and held for ransom..

  19. obama is a lier, a fuckin soft-talk puppethead shit, i don’t know why the potsmokers and the people in general still likes him it is so fuckin stupidity from agressive propaganda

  20. The president can always giveth more money, power and control to government, but he’d better not taketh away.

  21. I never understood that line. The point was to inhale. That was the point.
Barack Obama, When asked, “Unlike other presidents, did you inhale?

Would he arrest one of his Choom gang buddies?

  22. @mike, yes he would still be the president even if he got busted for weed….cause he is still president and wasn’t born here….jus sayn’

  23. President Barry Obama should just legalize marijuana for all of us in the USA. He’ll eventually leave office a perhaps enjoy a bong hit again.

  24. @yankee2
I completely agree I rather have a honest stoner than a hypocrite. i know plenty of professionals who are stoners and they live good lives. the only law that they have ever broken is smoking pot. My 85 yr old grandmother has never smoked pot in her life but she even thinks it should be legal. she said this type of prohibtion is as stupid as the fisrt one was.

  25. I never understood that line. The point was to inhale. That was the point.
Barack Obama, When asked, “Unlike other presidents, did you inhale?

  26. I am a medicinal marijuana card holding patient, and it has helped my MS symptoms tremendously! There is NO reason NOT to decriminalize marijuana for the entire nation, leaving the DEA to try and arrest REAL criminals.
