Despite subjects’ lack of psychomotor impairment, researchers acknowledged that some participants tested positive for THC at levels classifying them as “under the influence” in several states.
“Heavy drinking, but not cannabis use or other drug use, appears to be associated with elevated pregnancy risk among those who most desire to avoid pregnancy,” researchers concluded.
Consistent with prior research, scientists identified “no association between cumulative lifetime use of cannabis and incidents [of] hypertension.”
CBD mitigated alcohol intake, prevented alcohol-induced damage to the brain, and attenuated relapse-like behaviors.
Declines were most pronounced among those ages 35 to 49.
Contrary to investigators’ expectations, current cannabis use was not independently associated with elevated rates of heart attack, stroke, cardiovascular death, or all-cause mortality.
More than 79 percent of respondents said that they consumed cannabis, at least in part, as an alternative to traditional medications.
