Advocates say that the Governor’s veto will further delay consumers from gaining access to state-licensed marijuana products.

Adult-use sales begin on Friday — some 28 months after lawmakers approved legislation legalizing the adult-use market.
The law stipulates that banks and other financial institutions “are not subject to prosecution [for] providing lawful services to licensed businesses engaged in the production, distribution and sale of cannabis.”
“After years of advocacy, collaboration, and grassroots organizing, we are thrilled to see cannabis legalization become a reality in our state,” Delaware NORML’s Executive Director, Laura Sharer said.
A spokesperson for Democratic Gov. John Carney said that he will review the bill, but that the Governor remains largely opposed to legalization.
The court rejected officers’ contention that the smell of marijuana alone is sufficient grounds for police to make an arrest.
The measure permits certified nurse practitioners and physician assistants to issue medical cannabis recommendations to those ages 18 and older.
“With nearby states like New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, and Virginia on the cusp of legalization and implementation, Delaware should apply the same consideration.”
