Sixteen percent of respondents acknowledged using cannabis to help them sleep. Another ten percent of respondents said they used CBD as a sleep aid.
“Recreational cannabis dispensary openings are associated with a significant decrease in opioid fills among commercially insured adults in the US,” the study’s authors concluded.
The decision contrasts with a ruling issued previously by the court finding that police may not conduct a warrantless search of a vehicle based solely on the odor of burnt marijuana.
The Institute is funded by a three-year, $7 million grant from the Illinois Department of Human Services.
“Cannabis users had lower rates of opioid utilization compared to non-cannabis users as early as two months after fusion [surgery],” researchers determined.
“No respondents preferred traditional medications over cannabinoids.”
Justices opined that the odor of cannabis “lacks a clear and direct enough connection to illegal activity to make it ‘probable’ that a crime has recently been committed.”
