Lawmakers mandate health regulators to revise guidelines for state’s nascent medical marijuana program
Revision of New Jersey’s Compassionate Medical Marijuana Act endorsed by the Governor’s office will allow six licensed facilities to produce and dispense marijuana to patients from the previously published regulations of no more than two facilities.
Health officials in NJ to hold public hearing on proposed medical marijuana rules
Under the yet-to-be formalized law, patients would be authorized to possess no more than two ounces of cannabis per month, and would not be permitted to grow their own marijuana or share it with other registered patients. Patients who possess unauthorized amounts or strains of marijuana will still be subject to arrest and criminal prosecution under state law.
Advocacy groups and lawmakers have criticized the proposed program as unduly restrictive.
