Cannabis may play a role in the maintenance therapy of opiate-dependent individuals with comorbid anxiety and sleep disorders, investigators concluded.

Many patients also reported using CBD oil products; however, they did not perceive them to be as effective as cannabis.
Fifty-nine percent of respondents said they used cannabis “to suppress cravings for other [controlled] substances.”
“Our findings add to the growing evidence supporting the potential benefits of cannabis use among people who use drugs,” researcher concluded.
“Recreational cannabis dispensary openings are associated with a significant decrease in opioid fills among commercially insured adults in the US,” the study’s authors concluded.
Marijuana retailers are associated with “significant reductions in mortality rates … for both accidental poisonings and opioid poisoning deaths.”
“Medical marijuana was comparatively more effective than prescription medication treatment for chronic pain,” researchers determined.
“The introduction of cannabis as a therapeutic alternative may have contributed to a reduction in opioid use among patients seeking pain relief,” the study’s authors wrote.
