“Further investigation of the harm reduction and therapeutic applications of cannabis use is warranted,” researchers determined.
Nearly half of the study’s participants acknowledged consuming cannabis to manage their opioid cravings.
“This suggests that patients using cannabis may be at a reduced risk of opioid dependence than nonusers,” investigators concluded.
Researchers concluded, “More than half of opioid users at baseline were able to [either] discontinue or decrease [their] opioid use after starting medical cannabis.”
“Medical cannabis improves motor and nonmotor symptoms in patients with PD and may allow for reduction of concomitant opioid medication use,” authors concluded.
Authors determined that cannabis treatment “was associated with improvements in fibromyalgia-specific symptoms, in addition to sleep, anxiety, and health-related quality of life.”
Authors concluded, “We found medical cannabis to be a safe and effective treatment option to help with cancer pain relief.”
