Carson City, NV: State bureaucrats announced this week that proponents of a statewide initiative that seeks to remove the threat of arrest for pot possession turned in sufficient signatures to qualify for this November’s electoral ballot. The proposal, sponsored by Nevadans for Responsible Law Enforcement, would amend Nevada’s constitution so that possession of up to three ounces of marijuana by individuals 21 years of age or older would no longer carry any criminal or civil penalty.
In order for the measure to become law, voters would have to approve the initiative this November and again in 2004.
