Washington, DC: The website of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) now includes detailed information on the drugged driving laws and penalties in all 50 states.
NORML’s new report provides detailed information regarding statutory language, case law, and penalties for driving under the influence of drugs (DUID) in every state. Special attention is paid to those states that have enacted zero tolerance per se statutes which outlaw motorists from operating a vehicle if they have the trace presence of an illicit substance or the metabolite of such a substance present in their bodily fluids – regardless of whether or not the driver is actually impaired.
Links to NORML’s new report can be found on NORML’s ‘state by state’ marijuana laws page, or interested parties may access the report directly by visiting: http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=6669.
NORML’s 2008 report assessing marijuana use and psychomotor impairment, entitled ‘Cannabis and Driving: A Scientific and Rational Review,’ is also available online at: http://www.norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=7459.
