The National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and The NORML Foundation are seeking student interns for remote positions. Students who support our policy positions and want hands-on experience working on one of the nation’s most consequential public policy issues are encouraged to apply. Interns play an important role in expanding NORML’s capacity and impact. Depending on their academic interests, experience, and skills, interns may be asked to:
- Monitor and analyze pending federal, state, and local marijuana legislation, then turn key developments into clear policy summaries
- Research candidates’ positions, voting records, and public statements on marijuana policy
- Conduct legal and policy research to support NORML’s advocacy, communications, and public education work
- Attend and report on congressional hearings, policy briefings, press conferences, and other public events virtually, with optional opportunities to attend in person on Capitol Hill for interns in or near Washington, DC
- Help manage inquiries from supporters, members of the public, media, and other stakeholders by phone and email
- Support Live with NORML by helping prepare scripts and assisting with production during livestreams
- Assist with planning and producing conferences, legal seminars, and other NORML events
