Could you please tell me what were the deciding factors for prohibiting Marijuana back in 1943? I read about one ridiculous reason, where the white men (government) did not want Black men smoking Marijuana because they thought the black men would go crazy and rape white women. If we publish the stupid reason’s for prohibiting Marijuana, it might help people see how stupid prohibition is. So why was Marijuana prohibited?

i truly believe that marijuana was prohibited because the u.s govt found that by taking this plant out of use and creating a fear of it they could make the occurrence of diseases like cancer, ms you name it more prevalent in society.then there’s also the fact that they can say that you are addicted this dangerous drug warranting the need to treat you.its all in the name of the almighty dollar people.there just no money to be made from letting people grow the only medicine that prevents as well as cures so many ailments.they would rather give you some drug that they made up that requires that you take several more to counteract the side effects

They should have used 8th amendment violations in the Federal Lawsuit, citing the government’s “deliberate indifference” to the plight of terminally ill citizens. I argue that it comes down to the Feds inflicting punishment by refusing to act on a treatment that would have positive impact on the citizens medical condition.
“[M]any instances of State injustice and oppression have already occurred in the State legislation of this Union, of flagrant violations of the guarantied privileges of citizens of the United States, for which the national Government furnished and could furnish by law no remedy whatever. i have used marijuana for diabetic nerve pain in my legs and feet it is very helpful for this condition. also was involved in 2 rear end collisions. i have very extreme back spasms marijuana helps my muscles relax enough to sit more comfortably.support legalization!!!!!

Buy the book “The Emperor Where’s No Clothes” By Jack Herer. Its the most educative book on all aspects of cannabis/hemp (except for obvious new material). They have the transcripts from the court hearings that led to the cannabis prohibition.

With the invention of K2, the Japanese scientist’s discovery (proof) of exactly how pot/thc interacts with the brain, makes pot legal by definition, according to our glorious Bill Of Rights (Life, Liberty, & the pursuit of happiness), imnsho, no?
They found thc interacts/effects one particular neurotransmitter, which is soly responsible for balancing stress, & allocating happiness.
Now the question is, why can’t some fancy lawyer for Norml or ANY attorney for that matter, connect the dots with the Supreme Court over this FACT?
Please help spread the word about this angle.

I was always under the impression that POT was criminalized due to the lumber industry’s fear of collapse due to hemp being better and cheaper.
I just left court with my 20 year old son. First offender never in any trouble at school or even a speeding ticket. He got his friend 2 oz. of pot and got caught. The judge in walton county ga gave him 2 years in prison and 20 years probation. Help!! There are many families lives in this county being destroyed. How can we organize something to bring about change?
@Melanie I am so sorry for you, your son, and your family. This is a supreme travesty of justice. It is outrageous 2 years. Our freedom in this country is being compromised by such action. This is exactly what I fear for young people like your son. They are destroying young people’s lives just for Marijuana, use and possession.I am so,so sorry. Can you appeal it? Can you get a good lawyer? This country wants to put everyone in jail. It is all about the money. The criminal justice system does not want Marijuana legalized, because it is a profitable business, for lawyers, the courts, and rehabilitation business’s. It is good that you contacted NORML they may be able to advise you. My heart goes out to you and your family Melanie. I will Keep your son and your family in my prayers.

Don’t you just wish the people had the same power that Congress does, to simply dismiss a lawsuit that doesn’t appeal to them?
The things we could get away with if we did…
Isn’t it odd that the Federal Government can patently ignore anything they don’t want to change? Sometimes they sound like a bunch of old women who, if they don’t want to do something, simply ignore or deny it…

[My response: The stonewall of this whole issue is this: sure, somebody might be able to push a class action suit against the Feds; but it takes a massive amount of money to do so; well out of the range of anyone to whom it matters. Those who have this sort of funds available, are those same people who are getting rich off the arrest, prosecution, mandated ‘rehab’ and kickbacks from the alcohol and tobacco industries. They can keep an issue tied up in court so long, you’ll go broke trying to persue it, and have to drop the case. Never confuse a politician with facts; they just get in the way of campaign funds from high sources.]
