At post time, there are 31 states that currently have pending marijuana law reform legislation. These measures deal with a wide array of topics including decriminalization, record expungement, medical access, and full legalization. 2015 is shaping up to be one of the most active legislative sessions on record for the marijuana legalization movement, but these bills won’t pass themselves. It is absolutely crucial that you, the stakeholders and voters, get engaged in the process and apply pressure to your state lawmakers to urge them to support these measures.
Reaching out to your state officials is as simple as a few clicks of the mouse using NORML’s Take Action Center. Simply consult the landing page to see if your state has pending legislation, click on that legislation, enter your zip code, and a pre-written email will be sent on your behalf. Once you have taken this initial step, we strongly encourage you to follow up by contacting your lawmakers directly and speaking to them on the phone. If politicians don’t hear from their constituents on these pieces of legislation, they remain unlikely to support them when they are called for a vote. Together, we can make the country a little more NORML. Together, we WILL legalize marijuana nationwide.
It’s all about Big Deal Government, Corrupted Government and Big Money! SO JUST LEGALIZE IT and finally get the law enforcement something to do other than harass and vilify everyone. I don’t see how any of them can do the job they are supposed to be doing, they spend all their time and effort in trying to premeditate and instigate everyone so they can scalp everyone on the BIG MONEY PROHIBITION GAME of cat and mouse! Don’t they just love it! It’s quota time again folks, You know , it’s EASY MONEY for corrupted law enforcement here in GEORGIA. Just more SMOKE & MIRRORS FOLKS! Everyone should vote to END PROHIBITION and TAKE back some of that PRIDE that the government criminals are so swelled up on! I’m sure it’s going on in Everytown and Anytown, USA. LET’S END PROHIBITION NOW SO EVERYONE GET OUT TO VOTE!!!
It’s time to Decriminalize Marijuana making Medial a priority its time every part of the US to make all LEGAL IN Every State. Let all citizens be free to make their own mind up. We need to reform all laws letting the states make their own decision. Just like we do on tobacco and alcohol
What’s Going On With North Carolina? Last I Heard Was That The North Carolina House Was Going In Session About Enacting Medical Cannabis.
[Editor’s note: Information on the pending medical cannabis legislation in NC is found here.]
@ Voice,
check out this link; You were asking about Idaho? Looks like there’s hope:

LEGALIZE, use the taxes to fix our highways, free health care, grow cars(lighter cars saves gas). Big Steel & Oil are worried.
If it were to be left up to Virginia’s Republicans, marijuana would never ever be legal… So please, for the Gods sake, don’t even think about voting Republican!! We need to get rid of the whole lot of them ASAP!
Good News is: The Republican front runners for the next presidential election are Jeb Bush and Chris Christie. Seriously, out of more than 300,000,000 people in this country and these two are the best the Republicans can come up with??? HaHa!!!
If you want national legalization then don’t vote Scott Walker in the 2016 presidential election. It’ll never happen. He is so against medical Marijuana and will do whatever he can to destroy what advocates have been working so hard for. In fact, he is so against it he made laws stricter in Wisconsin & doubled the sentence for possession in 2014. DO NOT VOTE WALKER IN 2016
I’m So glad to see that UTAH is Finally getting in on this!
However, It’s really lame. I would qualify for the Medical Marijuana Card in UTAH but, It would still be illegal for me to grow it myself, and it would only be sold in oils and edibles, it even states in the proposed bill that Combustion of cannabis would still be illegal!!! This is lame! What’s the point! It should be like COLORADO, WASHINGTON, and the others!
It’s god’s gift to us! No-one Should be told they can’t use it! and No-one should be told How they can use it! We should be Free to make our own choice! Without Any Problems!!!
I’d love to stay in UTAH, but I’m not going to wait around for the day it Finally changes Here! I’ll just pack up and head to COLORADO!!!
Recently I was pondering the problem with driving under the influence of marijuana. I believe I have come up with a reasonable solution to the issue.
If there were to be individual tests issued by the DMV that would evaluate the skills of a driver under the influence of marijuana judging whether or not they are fit to drive and automobile,
if they were to pass said test, a licence and accompanying licence plates would be issued allowing the driver to drive under the influence of marijuana without repercussions.
Thank you for taking the time to read my solution perhaps you can incorporate it into upcoming laws.
Thank you
Yours Truly
Alexis
[Editor’s note: Other than the individual cannabis consumer’s want to drive while under the influence, it is not at all likely that sufficient political buy in is possible from the obvious opponents of such: elected policy makers, law enforcement, insurance companies, public health and safety officials and parents groups.
Additionally, it is hard to envisage any cannabis law reform organization endorsing a policy that specifically has the government testing cannabis consumers who want to drive intoxicated to affirm…they can safely operate a vehicle while under influence…and give them special permission to do so.
One of NORML’s Principles of Responsible Cannabis Use is to not drive while under the influence of cannabis (not ‘I can drive high and want to prove it’)
Lastly, if such government tests were to exist for cannabis consumers who want to ‘legally’ drive under the influence of cannabis, alcohol and pill consumers would argue for the same tests–so they too could drive impaired.
Suffice of to say, at least at NORML, your suggestion to ‘solve’ the DUID and cannabis conundrum is, by definition, a non-starter.]

I totally agree, then the police can focus on the real criminals, and maybe switch their focuses to the other dangerous drugs. Legalization would also make it way safer than buying weed off of the street or from shady people that you don’t know where its from or who has handled it(I’ve had weed laced with PCP before). I’d sure feel a lot safer if I could walk into a store which should have standards and regular inspections
The court systems are too afraid they will lose money from all the easy win marijuana cases. And the police are afraid they might actually have to go after real criminals instead of peaceful marijuana smokers.
