#GivingTuesday

Since the craziness of Black Friday and Cyber Monday has come to an end, NORML invites you to take part in #GivingTuesday, a movement created to kick-start the charitable season by supporting non-profits.

Donate to NORML Foundation to support our efforts (donations to NORML Foundation are tax-deductible).

With over 150 chapters nationwide, a professional staff based in Washington, DC, and a social media reach of over 1.5 million individuals, NORML is the largest group committed to working with members of Congress, business leaders, legal experts, and citizens from around the country to reform marijuana law and move our country forward.

With four states legalizing marijuana for adult use on Election Day this year and four additional states approving initiatives to allow the medical use of marijuana — this is clearly an issue on the move.  It is also an issue that has strong support across all demographics, with recent polling of nationwide support for legalization at 60%.

Over 600,000 Americans are arrested each year on marijuana charges, and these arrests disproportionately fall on already marginalized communities. If you are an African American you are 4 times as likely to be arrested for marijuana as Caucasians, even though consumption rates are similar.

Will you help NORML pursue policies which aim to remove the Schedule I classification of marijuana, provide safe and effective medicine to suffering patients, and create substantial reforms to our criminal justice system?

Donate to NORML to make a difference today.

Your support is truly appreciated!

  1. A sound understanding of what makes America great from the majority of pot smokers would put the opposition at ease. As of right now, the majority of pot smokers exhibit naive realism and embrace liberal tendencies in a dangerous manner that leaves them vulnerable to the subtle yet impactful brainwashing that the enemies of the State (domestic and foreign) are using to weaken the unity that binds this great Country together. We are human….both liberal and conservative in differing ratios. There’s no reason to piss off the people that stay 100% sober to defend this country by making them think that the pot smokers of America refuse to do their part to make this country better everyday and defend it, knowing that although it’s not perfect, the World has never seen a better organization of men and women. We want to follow the laws, we want to smoke pot, we will help law enforcement enforce the laws through community cooperation, and we will defend our Country from all who wish to see its demise, whether it’s the local thug or a foreign invader! Pot Smokers, Make America Greater Movement! Pot Smokers Mount Up! Yay!

    1. The above writer warns against “liberal tendencies” but liberally overuses (6 times) the expression “smoke pot” or “pot smokers”. Doesn’t seem to be aware that hot burning overdose monoxide $moking is obsolete, you can VAPE cannabis and be 100% sober (as in Sovereignty). Keep Ameriwa(na) great! Read, edit, defend, improve the free wiki “Make 25-mg Pipes From Everyday Objects” article!

    2. I don’t think it’s the pot smokers who are naive; we’ve always known that our asses were on the line, and that the system was rigged against us, from the days of Jack Herer’s book, The Emperor Has No Clothes.

I think it’s the Trump voters who don’t have a clue what kind of chumps they are.

You don’t think we know what makes America “great?” We’ve been waving American flags at pot rallies way before Trump, way before George W Bush’s “flagophile” Republicans. It’s Freedom! It’s Justice! It’s Equality!

You’re calling for a Pot Smokers “Make America Great” movement? WTF? Trump supporters for legalization, you mean? Get real. We’ve covered all this before, that’s bullshit. He just appointed Jeff Sessions for AG, remember?

I’ll cut right to the heart of it: If Trump and Sessions were to say to the marijuana legalization movement, “Here’s our offer: we’ll give you marijuana legalization. In exchange, you will give us your immigrants, your Muslims, your blacks, your gays, your women, your liberals, your work protections, your environmental protections, your health protections, and every bit of your goddamn money. Deal?”

Fuck NO! Are you crazy? No fucking way!

      No Deal!

  2. See what Trump is doing? He’s set to destroy every thing that is good and true about USA. We can’t let him do that.

Get ready for the 60’s all over again! Not the groovy parts, like weed and stuff… we already have that! No, I’m talking about the riots, the police dogs, the fire hoses, the National Guard. Trump ain’t done fucking us yet!

All because a bunch of dumb-ass bigots voted for Trump. You assholes give me Turret’s Syndrome. So, like, fuck you cracker-ass Trump supporters, anyway! You’re pathetic. You talk some shit now, but prepare for the pain, because you pussies are about to find out — it ain’t going down like before.

You’re the same old hateful white crackers as before. But we’re not the same society as we were in the 60’s. We’ve evolved; you haven’t. And you soulless slime-balls are about to get schooled.

  3. #GivingTuesday is an honorable idea. If we give a little, we can get a lot, such as providing safe and effective medicine to suffering patients, and creating substantial reforms to our criminal justice system. See the comments here: http://www.21stcenturydems.org/index/4077/

Pursuing policies to change the federal law from the fraudulent “the smoke of marijuana” to the self-evident “the smoke is marijuana”, will make the rescheduling task much easier. Senator Jeff Sessions says it more sternly, “…send that message with clarity that good people don’t smoke marijuana.”

    1. You just keep comin back like a whooped hound dog dontcha Year?
Let me ask you somethin; how do you sleep at night advocating the arrest, asset forfeiture and family separation of marijuana consumers simply because they choose to smoke instead of vaporize their cannabis?

      1. Rescheduling is the second step in the two step process. Upholding the Constitution with a Necessary and Proper format for the definition of marijuana is the first step.

You keep wanting to skip over the first step. Succeeded much?

      2. BTW, that marijuana for which all of those State laws are being written to regulate its various modes of consumption – its really cannabis until it is smoked. But you question that.

        “I’m not a marijuana exterminator.
        I’m a marijuana control monitor.
I only tell you if there’s a problem.
        There’s a problem.”

      3. Your commitment to the cause is evident. I don’t question your sincerity. And you seem to have the best of intentions: marijuana legalization. Same here!

But… with respect, this is a bigger problem than a legal parsing of terms. Your idea may well have merit, but I don’t think it’s going to be able to protect us from our enemies. These people prosecuted Tommy Chong for selling glass bongs, for fuck’s sake! I don’t think they’re going to just pack up and go home, just because you redefined the word “dope.”

Not to be pushy or anything, but have you sent any anti-Sessions letters to your Senators lately? That’s where the team effort is going these days.

      4. Please discuss more the merit of the idea, because if the word is redefined before rescheduling is achieved, then what legal grounds remain for those people to be considered as our “enemies”.

  4. I just made a long overdue donation. I’m disappointed that I haven’t been able to, but finally my personal economy is turning around, and I promise from here out that I’ll stay a member till no longer needed.

  5. It’s not Tuesday, but let the giving continue:

    1. The medical and recreational legalization movement is made up of people from all political parties. Do not divide the movement based on the current political divisions (trump vs Hillary vs Bernie vs harembe). Unity, people, unity!! This is a team effort, and we are all on the same team despite who voted for who.

    2. Realize that the War on Drugs has inflicted pain and even resulted in casualties and the only thing that will make it all the worthwhile is to successfully end prohibition. That’s the reward, that’s it. That’s what the team needs to focus on. A little patience for those that are angry like our dear friend who posted earlier….however they will eventually have to realize that manner of approaching the challenge of ending prohibition may actually hurt the cause.

    3. Pretend you’re the only voice for the movement and cut out the rascism and name calling….this movement should transcend that shit.

    1. Not quite.

The drug legalization movement does not want or need the so-called “support” of the white-supremacist Trump crowd. True, we seek unity — and that is precisely why we do not have room within the movement for those who seek to divide us through racism and sexism and xenophobia.

We are diverse. That is why we unequivocally reject intolerance based on race, class, gender, or sexual orientation. We don’t have room for bigots.

Trump’s white nationalists are free to shed their ignorance, and join us; but we will not court them, and we will make no concessions to their bigotry and their violent, deceitful ways.

  6. It’s not Tuesday, but let the giving continue:

    1. The medical and recreational legalization movement is made up of people from all political parties. Do not divide the movement based on the current political divisions (trump vs Hillary vs Bernie vs harembe vs etc). Unity, people, unity!! This is a team effort, and we are all on the same team despite who voted for who.

    2. Realize that the War on Drugs has inflicted pain and even resulted in casualties. This we understand. Our goal is to successfully end prohibition. That’s what the team needs to focus on. A little patience for those that are angry like our dear friend who posted earlier….however they will eventually have to realize the angry approach will not help in the challenge of ending prohibition and may actually hurt the cause.

    3. Talk as if you’re the only voice for the movement and cut out the racism and name calling….this movement should transcend that crap.

    1. Well anonymous, since youre new to this blog allow me to welcome you the fact that it takes 24 hours to post, as Im sure youre figuring out.
Since you did post twice, and Mark did such an eloquent job of restraining himself on his previous and latest post, allow me to engage you and anyone else who bothers to read anything besides Facebook anymore in this next post on figuring out how real, bipartisan, citizen lobbying, NORML-marching marijuana legalization really works:

1). We can vote for our elected officials both Democratic and Republican from the state to federal level up and down the ballot, and use our swing vote with prejiduce (not discrimination) not only during Presidential elections, but just as important, Congressional elections. Not sayin you dont know that, just felt the need to point out that “liberal” and “conservative” are abused words and Trump is probably neither.
      http://Www.norml.org/congressional-scorecard

      2). Are you even aware that Trump nominated Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama to Attorney General? Were all about unity here but if you talk the talk you need to walk the walk: speaking of which, as a Trump supporter you could do “unity” a favor and click on the following;
      https://engage.drugpolicy.org/secure/stop-jeff-sessions?ms=1A1_1611SessionsSenate&utm_campaign=fy17advocacy&utm_medium=web&utm_source=1611wsc3SessionsSenate&cid=701U0000000xybsIAA&_ga=1.58474606.576971172.1480703352

3)Did you mean “DON’T talk as if youre the only voice for the movement?” Because if not, “WE” have a problem…

  7. Tired of giving to lost causes or to ones who make little to no difference. Just more socialist BS. This is not freedom!

    Communism rules this country.
Getting to the point I’d rather see a scorched earth.
