Those wedded to the status quo of cannabis criminalization have long warned that legalizing the marijuana market will result in increased adolescent use. But 10 years following the first states’ decisions to legalize and regulate adult-use cannabis sales, data conclusively shows that this fear was unfounded.

In Congress, far too many politicians remain wed to the sort of “Reefer Madness” view that most voters have long since abandoned. Like Harris did, they also need to evolve their views on cannabis to more closely align with current scientific and public consensus.
North Dakota voters will decide on Election Day whether to approve a citizens’ initiated ballot measure legalizing the use, home cultivation, and retail sale of cannabis.
“Prevalence of cannabis use did not change among youth over time,” the study’s authors concluded.
The proposed ordinance states: “The City’s policy shall be to make enforcement of Class A and Class B misdemeanor marijuana possession its lowest enforcement priority. The City shall update its relevant policies to ensure that public safety resources are not wasted on misdemeanor marijuana enforcement.”
“These surveys’ findings offer support for the notion that, in some instances, cannabis can act as an intervention for certain persons seeking to reduce their alcohol consumption.”
“For the foreseeable future, New Hampshire will remain an island of cannabis prohibition.”
November’s vote will mark the third time since 2020 that South Dakotans have weighed in on the issue.
