Colorado: Medical Marijuana Permitted While On Probation

Denver, CO: Democrat Gov. John Hickenlooper has signed legislation into law permitting qualified patients to access medical cannabis use while on probation or parole.

House Bill 1267 states: "The possession or use of medical marijuana … shall not be considered another offense such that its use constitutes a violation of the terms of probation. … [T]his act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, and safety."

Colorado is one of the first states to explicitly permit by statute the use of medical marijuana by those under court supervision.
