Reuters: Pot Kills Cancer But Don't Even Think About Using It!

UPDATE!!! UPDATE!!!
The MSM may be starting to pay attention. I just got off the phone with CBS News radio, who will be covering this story imminently.
It was just yesterday that I was lamenting about the mainstream media’s failure to report on the anti-cancer properties of cannabis. And then along comes Reuters with this:

Cannabis chemicals may help fight prostate cancer
via Reuters News Wire
Chemicals in cannabis have been found to stop prostate cancer cells from growing in the laboratory, suggesting that cannabis-based medicines could one day help fight the disease, scientists said Wednesday.
After working initially with human cancer cell lines, Ines Diaz-Laviada and colleagues from the University of Alcala in Madrid also tested one compound on mice and discovered it produced a significant reduction in tumor growth.
Their research, published in the British Journal of Cancer, underlines the growing interest in the medical use of active chemicals called cannabinoids, which are found in marijuana.
Experts, however, stressed that the research was still exploratory and many more years of testing would be needed to work out how to apply the findings to the treatment of cancer in humans.
“This is interesting research which opens a new avenue to explore potential drug targets but it is at a very early stage,” said Lesley Walker, director of cancer information at Cancer Research UK, which owns the journal.
It absolutely isn’t the case that men might be able to fight prostate cancer by smoking cannabis,” she added.

Well, well, well, leave it to the MSM to misrepresent the facts and miss the real story. First, the chemicals assessed in this study, R(+)-Methanandamide and JWH-015, are neither “cannabinoids” nor are they “chemicals in cannabis.” Rather, they are synthetic, selective CB2 receptor agonists. In short, they are chemicals created in a lab to mimic certain elements in marijuana, and to bind to specifically to those cannabinoid receptors that are not located in the brain. After all, we can’t possibly have the terminally ill feeling ‘better’, now can we?
Second, US federal researchers have known for some 35 years that the naturally occurring chemicals in cannabis — not just synthesized agonists — can halt the proliferation of multiple types of cancer, including including brain cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, and pancreatic cancer. We even know how.

Cannabinoids: potential anticancer agents
via Nature Reviews Cancer (2003)
Cannabinoids are usually well tolerated, and do not produce the generalized toxic effects of conventional chemotherapies. … Cannabinoids inhibit tumor growth in laboratory animals. They do so by modulating key cell-signaling pathways, thereby inducing direct growth arrest and death of tumor cells, as well as by inhibiting tumor angiogenesis and metastasis. Cannabinoids are selective anti-tumor compounds, as they can kill tumor cells without affecting their non-transformed counterparts.

Of course, the real question — conveniently ignored by Reuters and the rest of the MSM — is this: Why, after three decades and dozens of preclinical trials documenting cannabis’ potent anti-cancer abilities, are “many more years of testing” necessary? Last I checked, humans die en masse from cancer, not rats! Yet for some 35 years scientists have been content to replicate these  cancer-killer findings in animals and in petri dishes, all the while warning, “It absolutely isn’t the case that men might be able to fight prostate cancer by smoking cannabis.”
Well why the hell not? Not only can cannabis alleviate cancer patients’ nausea and pain, elevate their mood, and increase their appetite, but also — as dozens of preclinical trials over the past three decades consistently demonstrate — marijuana may help to alleviate the very disease that’s ravaging their bodies. Of course, rather than put this theory to the test, investigators for more than three decades have been willing to let people with a terminal illness die while they piddle around with their petri dishes. And to date, not one reporter from the mainstream media has ever had the guts to ask them why.

  1. Quote: “And to date, not one reporter from the mainstream media has ever had the guts to ask them why.”
hmmm….maybe tobacco and alcohol companies paying them not to.

  2. yea? and what else is new? im lovin it! now we just need to get the MSM to report it….. its sad that when arguing with prohibitionists, they wont believe any scientific studies at all mainly because they dont hear about them from the most trustworthy people in the entire world…. of course im talking about the MSM and our wonderful trustworthy government…… please… i, along with a quickly growing number of americans(and the world), dont believe a thing that spews out of the government! WE SHOULD ALL DEMAND THAT CONGRESS BE SUBJECTED TO MONTHLY DRUG TESTS! think of what we will find….. think of how quickly their views on the drug war will change…. of course there are ways around a simple piss test so at least the first one should be a hair folicle test….. im sure most americans will not mind tax dollars going towards making sure our government is (somewhat) honest.

  3. GAWD!!! Im gonna pull my freaking hair out!!!
My father died 5 years ago due to lung cancer…thats why I got into this fight. I watched this man, this GOOD man die terribly from this disease,If cannabis could or could not have cured him is of question. What is not of question is what these freakin pharma drugs did to him!! In the end he was STAVING TO DEATH!! He couldnt eat or keep PILLS down!!
His heart finally gave out!! Why would this heartless government keep cannabis from him or the millions that die like this!?!?!
Once again I say..could cannabis cured him? That remains the question. I do know this..It would have made him more comfortable and let him EAT. Am I angery? YOU BET! My grandmother died the week before from cancer. What if I get cancer? Will they throw me in jail for looking for a way to survive? Force me to DIE?
Im in this fight to the very end, I will fight against ANYONE that gets in my way. All you heartless bastards that refuse to try something different can GO TO HELL!

  4. I love how the goverment won’t let us use a natural substance to prevent cancer and yeild tumors, but okays having another life sucked out of your body and dumped in the trash.(abortion). NORML, keep fightin the good fight….

  5. Last night on NightLine news, Lisa Ling did a report from Cali. She did a good job on the report for the most part. Perhaps someone (NORML) 🙂 might suggest to her that she pose that question to said parties… she’s got some balls…

  6. Hi,
I’m a dialysis patient and am wondering why I never hear anything about kidney failure/dialysis being one of the ailments that “pot cures”?? After being on a dialysis machine for 3-4 hours you get a “nauseating feeling”!! Why can’t dialysis patients get medical marijuana, or medical canabis cards? I also have been hearing how canabis helps with your immune system – well I’m also on the kidney transplant list – what effect would canabis have on a transplant?????

  7. tellin it like it is. I’ve been emailing and writing to various MSM outlets like newsweek, cnn, msn, time, and washington post over the years asking them to do a real in-depth story about the anti-cancer properties of cannabis and haven’t had a satisfactory response or article or anything no matter how much evidence I give them (I practically write the article for them in my messages). They’re just too controlled by their government, their BigPharma and Big Business sponsors, and their brainwashed minds to see through the haze (no pun intended) that is the prohibitionist mindset and realize how much of a miracle plant cannabis really is. I really honestly think with all my heart that if fully embraced by the world this plant could do more good than just about anything else on this planet.

  8. Why dont the above mentioned people causing roadblocks get out of the way??? In my opinion it is a combination of selling out to those who profit from its suppression (Pharmacutical Companies) and fear of that their job would be in jeoprady.
THEY SHOULD BE THE LAST ONES TO GET THE DRUG WHEN COMING DOWN WTH CANCER-
God knows they will want it and need it then. PRICELESS!!!!

  9. maybe we need to call a town hall meeting with the media. When you light a candle you do not put it under a bushrl.A city set on a hill cannot be hid.OK calling all canaboloids, don’t be afraid to say I want to have prohabition on cancer. Sorry about this rant.

  10. Have you ever seen Chris Rock’s video about curing Polio? I know it sounds terribly cynical but do you think the pharms want to cure cancer or treat it?

  11. Wow, are we ever going to look dumb. 100 years from now, the history books are going to look back at the prohibition era and say:
“See how backwards we used to be? For 75 years, we outlawed a plant because we were afraid of progress. All that time, we could have been curing diseases, preserving our forests, and providing sustained work for our farmers and families.
“Instead, we let criminals and murders grow insanely wealthy while we spent over $70 BILLION dollars a year fighting cannabis and putting our families in prison.”

  12. I believe the reason the Pharm companies, which are government controlled, don’t want to use the Natural cure or treatments is there big fat wallets. If they use there labs to replicate a natural chemical they make more money. Its cheaper to use the natural substance there for they make less money. The plant can be grown on farms and harvested like any other plant. Pharm companies could still extract the natural chemicals and put in pill form and make money just less of it. Check into this, I was told by a police officer there is a Marijuana Tax and sticker for it in Alabama. But since they can’t control this distribution or sale that is why it is not in use and legalized. If legalized people could grow there own there for no taxes would be paid on it. Well my mother just had half her lung taken out due to cancer. And if there is a program anywhere in the U.S. that she can get into for research on this, I’m going to try to get her in it. She is under 75 lbs and is 67 yrs old. She can not take Cemo due to her size and health. So if cannibus will help her pain, gain her some weight and make her feel better then I will do what I have to do for her on that. People speak up for what you believe. If enough Americans would speak up and stop being scared of what people think of them because of it more would get done. You can buy air time and have documentary shown, but will the broadcasting companies let you is the question. Look at the show Weeds on HBO. They air that show so why not.

  13. Whoa, ease off on the scientists here. Medical research always requires a lot of years of testing for any compound, cannabis related or not. Drug interactions, side effects, etc. all need to be tested.
The real problem is with cannabis being a schedule I substance with “no medical benefit” causes the research to go more slowly.
Please be more careful to not direct the anger towards the researchers who already risk looking very unprofessional in their research, and keep the focus where it truly belongs, on our government’s outdated cannabis policy.

  14. All politicians should be subject to weekly drug tests that include saliva, blood, hair, sweat, and urine. Then after they are drug tested (paid for out of their own pockets by the way) they can have a polygraph test and the investigator can ask them if they had an affair, did drugs that werent detected, or took bribes.

  15. You can show the gov’t all the facts you want, but it wont change a thing. you must change the way Americans as a society think about marijuana. Some big name people need to come out and support the legalization of marijuana. It seemed to work quite well with the homosexual rights movements, but the only problem is that when big name homosexuals came out they werent arrested for what the loved to do. So we all need to push for more people to come out about smoking marijuana!

  16. NORML could you PLEASE post different pictures of beautiful buds to the upper-right of each story, instead of using the same pic over and over again? Thanks in advance.
If you need more pics I bet some can be found at http://www.ggdub.com/

  17. Maybe they are afraid to ask because they don’t want to imbarass and to make prohibitionist look bad. After all, the prohibitionist tried very hard exploiting children to launch a culture war against freedom.

  18. Paul, you’re on top of everything these days it seems, so I just want to say keep up the good work! When it comes to these reporters and scientists, it saddens me that you have to do their job for them, but that just seems to be the way it is.
    LEGALIZE!!

  19. Im with Bob, cant we call a town hall meeting to talk about this issue? I mean if they can do this with health care, why not with Marijuana prohibition? because after all this is a big issue. We are talking about out goverments denying us a medicine that care help us fight brain cancer, prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer, skin cancer, and pancreatic cancer, and a lot of other things. Like killing our animals, raiding innocent houses, causing fire in our forest, attracting ilegal immigrants in to the usa because of our laws, and destroying our citizens future and life with their laws. Dont you think this is enough to make ppl want to start a town hall metting with their representatives and talk about this issues?
An with 16 Price, I would say that, I dont that they want to find the cure rather then just treat it becuase they see more money coming like that. Its pretty scary to even imagen havin ppl like that being our doctors, that al they think about is the money and they forget why the real reason ppl should do this, is to help people, not rob them of their life and money.

  20. Doctors visit
Today was my appointment day to visit my pain management Dr. At the start of my appointment I was given a urine test for what I assumed to check if I had been using my meds. During my visit with the Dr. I talked with him about marijuana use to control some of the pain caused by nerve damage to my legs and feet. During this talk he informed me if I were to test positive for marijuana he would no longer be able to treat my or prescribe medications for my disability, because using marijuana was against the law.
Now get this, I ask if I were to commit murder or rape would he treat me, his answer was yes. So as I understand it I’m worst on society than rapist or murders because I use an herb to control pain. If there is a question on criminality should all criminals be subject to these archaic laws or just a select few. Is this not a violation of one’s civil rights to be treated equal under the eyes of our government? How can the DEA stand between my and my doctor. I’ve lived in pain for over 6 years and tried every drug every thing the doctor has put me through and very little has helped. Most of the drugs are opiate based and I have an allergic reaction to opiates, so at this point I have no recourse for pain management. Our government sees to it that I must live in pain, how can this be right. It’s time to correct these practices and allow doctors and patients to discuss therapies without the interference from the federal government.

  21. Famous ppl can do a lot. I just wonder why I dont see them do it that often? I mean how many of them are they really and dont they have money? Dont you think if they all pitch in, we would have advance a lot further? I mean I dont know if they did but if they did, I hope they put a good amount. And hope all the other famous ppl follow them and do the right thing.

  22. Wow awesome story Normal,so now i definately wont die of Cancer cuz im not goin to stop smoking ,maybe switch to vaporizer, but i dont know about tht either cuz i love the smell of some good shit hovern in the air. Best smell there is

  23. In response to #21 is, if it weren’t for the scientist that are worried about losing their funding from the big corps., I believe they (the scientist) would be more forthright in their findings. The reason they don’t come forth is their wallets won’t allow it either. The truth be known.

  24. Around 10 years ago I read in High Times that studies that were performed in the 70’s on Cancer Patients showed that THC shrunk the size of the tumors.

Whoa, ease off on the scientists here.
Medical research always requires a lot of years of testing for any compound, cannabis related or not….
    RE: Alex,
    – This sounds all good and valid reasoning
for something that is going to be formulated
and marketed to the public as a medication,
however, one ought NOT need FDA / government
“approval” / “permission” to MERELY grow a
plant-species which has existed long before we have!
(And will, most likely, continue to exist after the
    human-race has made itself EXTINCT…).
    – No plant WHATSOEVER should be on a “schedule”.
    – Let science continue to develop and test their CB2
rceptor agonists, let THESE require rigorous
testing and approval, but not the botanical,
    unless it’s some new, genetically-engineered variety…
    (containing animal-species DNA…).

  26. The pharmaceutical companies are working hard to monopolize the effects of cannabis. They already paid our lawmakers to allow them duplicate and get the rights to THC. The main ingredient in cannabis. While our lawmakers still insist on putting old people in jail for making a persona choice. They choose a herb over Marinol the legal THC owned by big money pharmaceutical companies that pay our law makers million every year!! We must through grass roots support stop this tyranny against us. We can do this right after we pass universal health care for all!!!
    CFHJ

  27. Cannabis prohibition makes me feel like a rat. I’m in the rat race to pay the bills, and feel like I’m on a treadmill, so the government should just legalize cannabis. This research was done in Spain, which begs the question as to what the fuck El Sohly has been doing at Ole Miss besides fucking up everything for everybody in the States interested in doing research and getting treated. These assholes are holding up everything, and I’ve just been in for prostate testing and am waiting for the test results. Curse them! Now when I say or think my prayers I’ll include a curse on these bastards until they change things. If I weren’t a civilized person I’d love to kick the living shit out them one at a time!

  28. No doubt they’ve known since Nixon formed the Shaffer commission, and then tossed the results in the trash because they were opposite what he wanted to hear.

Cannabis and prostate cancer: The Prostate Cancer Charity comments.
    19/08/2009
The Prostate Cancer Charity has commented on new research published today (19th August) in the British Journal of Cancer which suggests that active chemicals in cannabis are able to slow prostate cancer cell growth.
Dr Helen Rippon, Head of Research at The Prostate Cancer Charity, explains: “There is a growing body of evidence which suggests that the active agents in cannabis, cannabinoids, may have a role to play in halting the growth of tumour cells. This new research does seem to suggest that there may be a benefit for men with prostate cancer.
“This is an interesting laboratory study based largely on cells, but we don’t yet know how these findings will offer a practical benefit to men. There is still more research to do to tease out the mechanisms by which cannabinoids work on prostate cancer cells.
This will be necessary for the development of effective treatments that do not have the psychoactive side-effects commonly associated with cannabis use. In the meantime, we certainly would not encourage men wishing to reduce their risk of the disease to smoke the drug.”

  30. Why the hell cant we get a break? For once id like an entire pro pot news channel and station. Why cant Ted Turner start smoking pot. Faux news, msm and others are always shit talkin Our Plant. We need more famous stoners too.

  31. Their is more money in the treatment then the cure. That’s like making an automobile company produce a car that lasted forever.

  32. Paul, I’ve read your articles/posts for years now and I can tell you’re really getting pissed this time.
Keep up the ultra fine work! Thank you!

  33. To Steve / #10 poster…
I knew a gent that used pot for his dialysis side effects and it helped a lot. If you’re in Cali you can get a card for that. Other states I’m not sure.
And for a transplant list? You will be kicked off the transplant list if you test positive for cannabis. There are people that have died due to this criminal practice. And no, there is no immune damage with cannabis. Good luck Steve. Our prayers are with you.

  34. Happiness is a crime still. Mood elevation can often be the difference between getting around a health problem and letting it overcome a person. I guess being masochistic is the only way to be rich and successful anymore; especially in medicine.

  35. Something bothering me. This health care bill they will ultamatly try force upon us. Our leaders fight cannabis use so hard, do you really think the government will treat you for your illnesses if you use cannabis? Have anyone read that Whole bill here? Whats in it?
It is just another means of controlling the masses. Will they use it to control drug users? Who knows, but these kind of questions need be asked.
I heard today they are now saying passing this bill is a moral issue now. Thats bad. Why ? Many things have been done in this world under the guise of being morally right that were wrong.
——Beware—– This isnt your fathers government anymore.

  36. Face it, the government does. People will use marijuana if illegal or not. If illegal, they can make money on it. Trust me, if someone grew 5 plants to help them combat cancer treatments, a jury isn’t going to send you to jail. Face it, our government is ran by a bunch of fu*ktards who listen ONLY to special interests.
***NORML – I challenge you to research and present artciles about the special interests of marijuana prohibition. What, who, where, why and when type questioning.***
For marijuana to be legal, we the American voters need to know the fraud and cover-up which is occurring. This means corporations, politicians, lobbying groups, etc.
This is your job to inform the public on who is exactly fighting to keep marijuana illegal! Not just throw millions of dollars the way of politicians who will tell you things to throw more money to them!!!
[Editor’s note: Um…for the better part of the 40 years that NORML has been serving the public interest, notably that of cannabis consumers, the organization has confronted and exposed the numerous, but narrow band of entities that benefit from cannabis prohibition laws. A couple of examples:
    Five Pillars Pot Prohibtion
    Who Actually Supports Prohibition?
    NORML vs FCC
    Stoners in the Mist
BTW, NORML has not thrown millions towards politicians. Hardly. NORML PAC report here.]

  37. Great news! This is why I read this blog daily. The people at NORML Rock! Think of how far the research would have progressed had cannabis never been prohibited. Think of how different our world would be if we had been growing hemp for paper and fiber instead of cutting down our forests for the last 70 years or so. How many fewer deaths from cancer could have been prevented? This senseless drug policy has cost us all dearly.

  38. I don’t get it there are all sorts of vitamins and herbal supplements that clearly state they have not been vetted by the FDA but are on the market selling like hotcakes. I am living example of what benefits can be gained by using cannabis, and have 3 family members die from cancer, one whos doc recommened he smoke a little to ease effects of chemo this was in 1978 @ the VA in San Diego, unfortuatly he was to conservitive and up tight to use it but my used it after he passed to ease stress… LEGALIZE NOW

  39. Man you guys at NORML rock. Keep up the good work. More and more people need to find out the truth about Marijuana and not take after those bullshit AboveTheInfluence commercials, and boy, what a joke those commercials are.

  40. AWESOME! I can’t wait to see what CBS News radio does with the story. I’m sure the good folks at NORML will keep us updated.

  43. “investigators for more than three decades have been willing to let people with a terminal illness die while they piddle around with their petri dishes. ”
As a research scientist I am seriously offended by this. It is our GOVERNMENT whom is piddling around and preventing cannabis research to materialize into anything.

  45. Paul,
You are a strong voice for a huge body of people. I, for one, have had difficulty doing the same lest I lose my job as an untenured professor. However, your voice is being heard and encouraging us all to become more active in the fight. I am through with the days of only composing passive emails to my legislators who feed me the same ignorant rhetoric of the past 70 years. Patients need medicine of their choosing and citizens–ones truly living in a free country–must have the right to make their own choices in regards to their body; moreover, we have a God given right to grow and consume a plant!
My friends, we must shed our fear and be heard! I am not a lazy stoner. I am an academic and accomplished scholar and I smoke marijuana. I smoke cannabis to ease pain, relax, and commune in a peaceful surrounding. We can no longer remain silent as our government spreads jingoistic lies. It is unpatriotic to wage war on your own citizens.
I am an American. I smoke marijuana. I will no longer stay silent.
    Paul,
    thank you for your leadership.

  46. Props to CBS for picking up this story. CBS.com also recently ran a medical marijuana debate featuring NORML’s own Mitch Earlywine, Where he had the venue to share some interesting facts about marijuana use. I’ve also seen plenty of favorable coverage on MSNBC (not this story in particular, but marijuana issues in general). These seem to be the news sources where we have the best chance to get our side out. News radio and webcasts are good, but we need coverage on TV and in the newspapers. That’s where most get their news.

  47. The reason why marijuana is illegal is because it’s a federal mindset marketing philosiphy. Weed is about joy, laughter, happiness, spiritual enlightment. The energetic vibration people emit when they are high and have no fear makes them extremely powerful beings.
And on the other hand alcohol and tobacco takes the lives of millions around the world annually. It’s all about instilling fear in the masses, population control, and the additional activity of law enforcement to keep people scared and powerless.

    “The reason is simply this;
    no one can patent Marijuana.”

    RE: Bob,
    – No one can patent white willow, either,
    (the “crude” botanical-basis for Aspirin®),
but gov’t is not making / keeping this plant
“outlawed”, nor trying to prevent people from
utilizing this, in lieu of synthetic
    Acetyl Salicylic Acid

  49. Just so NORML knows- I just heard the cbs radio news bulletin on this study at 7:30am here on KYCA 1490m here in Prescott, Az. Funny thing about it- Ive never heard ANYTHING CBS on the radio- KYCA is a fox affiliate.
KEEP IT UP GUYS! WE GOT THIS SHIT IN THE BAG, BAY!!!

  50. Oh, and Prescott is a retirement community full of rich white republicans who don’t like any youth whatsoever, so I’m glad CBS forcefully jammed this down their throats!

  51. OBJECTIVE
The Green Door is committed to “LEGALIZIING CANNABIS FOR MEDICINAL USE” in all fifty (50) states by demonstrating a show of superior numbers in favor of its medicinal use. Our objective is to accomplish this in the shortest period of time posssible. Although cannabis has been proven to treat more than 250 medical condititons, our purpose is to prove that “CANNABIS HAS CURRENT MEDICAL UTILITY AND EFFICACY IN THE UNITED STATES, AND NO POTENTIAL FOR ABUSE.” Our primary objective is remove cannabis from schedule I, and replace it in schedule III.
Now!…is your opportunity to make that happen. Now!…is the time to pledge your support by adding [GD] to your posting handle…also by indicating your state.
    EXAMPLE: John/Jane Doe Activist [CA-GD]
We are at present a 85% strong factor in favor of our objective. Let’s make it happen.

  52. Just a quick update for anyone interested… the dominoes have really begun to fall when a state that has been dramatically anti-marijuana begins to rethink it’s approach. The state I currently live in, Iowa, has started proceedings to reclassify cannabis from schedule 1 to schedule 2 based on the fact that many other states have found that it DOES indeed have medicinal value. (no brainer). This is so shocking because up until recently they have not even allowed for the consideration of medicinal marijuana (I have the antiquated and misinformed letters from senate and congressmen to prove it. references to “wasting disease”? come on…) a hearing took place on wednsday, with hearings to follow on september 2nd in mason city, october 7th in iowa city and november 4th in council bluffs. This is a small step, but if we decriminalize, then two major midwestern states will be decrimed side by side. Sen. Joe Bolkom of iowa city will re-introduce a medicinal marijuana bill next session. The news will always say what it’s paid to say and the meat of this movement will be grassroots in origin. I urge many other activists to petition thier state governments with the fact that marijuana has been approved for medical uses in many other states, a precedent that pretty much turns the traditional schedule 1 treatment on it’s ear. legalities may usually benefit those in power but this is one loophole that turns the tides in our favor. let’s ride this momentum to a safer more educated future!

But I have always wished to help those fellow Americans that were less fortunate. But I don’t mean handouts. We could change the system so all Americans could hold up their heads. Its all about sharing the wealth. If we could end the war on ourselves and legalize a harmless herb. It would be a home run for the human race. Its a win win to end the racist war started 72 years ago. Lets all fight to make our world a better place for us all..
    Peace CFHJ

  54. Editor – I get caught up in the ignorance of the public… I just wish the public was better educated on the hypocrisy of marijuana prohibition. Then there wouldn’t be any need of a “debate”.

  55. Now it seems to me that if “Marinol” is produced then the medical community accepts the fact that thc helps with a variety of issues. Then why the $%&**()+_ isn’t it legalized. They say we need more test….why? If you produce it in a lab then it is accepted and approved. Those lab produced chemicals will kill ya.

  56. #65, Proud to offer my support. Any Ideas where to get a good green shirt? Preferably hemp! Is it alright if I call myself an activist? All I do is open my mouth every chance I get to speak out about all the lies and educate people as well as point everyone to some of my favorite sites such as Norml, CC, MPP, etc lol!

  57. On the advice of an enlightened physician 22 YEARS AGO I was able to end a dependence on very debilitating anti-siezure medications for epilepsy and replace them with just a single joint a day. My experience led to BETTER siezure control and a very productive and “normal” life that would never have been possible with the previous “acceptable” treatment plan. I now look back on a very successful engineering career, three beautiful, well-balanced, successful children, an active lifestyle and a happy and enlightened attitude about life in general. I now find myself a happy and energetic “senior citizen” in great health, requiring NO maintenance pharmacueticals whatsoever (a rarity among my age group!). Was it worth being a “criminal” for the last 22 years? Was it worth being a social parriah by definition of our society? Was it worth the daily threat of prison? HELL YES!!! If you have ANY reason to think marijuana will help improve your life/condition then, for God’s sake, don’t let the ignorance of others condemn you to a lesser life to appease the masses. Let your LIFE be the example to others!

  58. Now I know why I have hardly ever gotten sick in my lifetime. I always suspected but now its great to know that I was probably right. Im 43 this year and I have been smoking regularly since age 10. Great Preventive Powers!!!

We are so happy to get your support. Any hunter green polo shirt works. Hemp is best, but plain will work for the cause. We need Texas, as you well know. Happy to have you on board. Stay tuned…more to come.
As you may well know, coordination is the hardest pat of any task.

  60. My brother Pete died at 5am on Saturday 13 June 2009. Ralph Earl “Pete” Vance was a Vietnam Veteran who enlisted in 1967 and spent 1969 to 1970 in Vietnam. After his service he became a sheet metal worker. He raised 2 beautiful daughters and was the kind of guy you were glad was on your side. He was loved by family and friends.
You may be asking, “ Vance , what does that, as sad as it is, have to do with the restriction of personal freedom.?”
    Well, ’m gonna tell ya!
Pete died of 2 cancers, Squamous cell carcinoma and a very aggressive form of breast cancer. He was gone in 9 months.
Since the 72 year war on marijuana users began in 1937 there have been few if any American studies of it’s uses or effects. Harry Anslinger, America’s first Drug Czar, allowed New York City Mayor, Fiorello Laguardia the marijuana to do his own study.
Anslinger felt betrayed when the findings of Laguardia’s study showed marijuana to be harmless and not a problem in New York City. Anslinger decided that there would be no more marijuana studies as far as he was concerned.
President Richard Nixon’s 1970 Shafer Commission on Drugs concluded that marijuana was relatively harmless and not addictive, and that drugs were a medical not a criminal problem. Nixon also felt betrayed and announced that he would not look soft on crime and declared the, now 40 year old, War On Drugs.
Since then the Drug Enforcement Administration has consistently refused to provide the marijuana to researchers. A ruling by the DEA’s own Administrative Law Judge Francis Young that said,” Marijuana in it’s natural form is one of the safest therapeutically active substances known …”. “ It would be unreasonable, arbitrary, and capricious for the DEA to continue to stand between those sufferers and the benefits of this substance…”. ( Sept 6, 1988) Even with this ruling the DEA still refuses.
Despite the DEA research has been done. A population study at the University of California at Los Angeles by a Dr. Tashkin found that there appeared to be no link between lung cancer and marijuana, even among heavy users. He found that it seemed to act as a cancer preventer. Simply put cancer is when a cell after becoming defective, replicates instead of dying as it should. Studies at Universities in Europe have found that when substances found in THC ,the active ingredient in marijuana called, cannabinoids, are present when a cell goes defective, the cell dies. Investigators at Harvard University’s Division of Experimental Medicine reported that THC inhibited the growth of cells in vitro from 2 different lung cancer cell lines from patient lung tumors. They also reported that THC administration reduced the growth of tumors in mice by fifty percent.
Even with all this the government still stands in the way of research of the beneficial properties of marijuana. There can be no explanation for the government’s position other than Prohibition has become a religion to them! Ideology trumps everything and the religion of Prohibition is more important than a possible cure for cancer!
I personally believe that all of the misery and damage done by continuing these failed policies lay right at the feet of Harry Anslinger, President Nixon, and every politician who has made his career on the War on Drugs.
So, is Pete’s death collateral damage in the War on Drugs? You tell me!

  61. As usual, Mr. Armentano sees the story behind the story.
The “liberal” (yeah right!) media is a joke, they make Congress look honest.

  62. Study Suggests THC May Help Fight Bacteria
A new study by researchers in Britain and Italy suggests tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the main substance found in marijuana, shows promise as an antibacterial agent against bacterias that are resistant to treatment with broad spectrum antibiotics such as penicillin and methicillin.
Experiments in the 1950s tested a host of marijuana compositions against skin and various infections. But, at that time, they had very little understanding of marijuana’s chemical makeup.
For the study, researchers examined the antibacterial activities of five common types of cannabinoids. All five proved effective against several common multi-resistant bacterial strains. However, researchers suggest nonpsychotropic cannabinoids may be more promising for eventual use.
Researchers are unsure how exactly cannabinoids work and if they would prove effective as systemic antibiotics, which would require more trials and research. But the compounds may be useful as a topical agent against meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (more commonly known as a “staph infection”), or MRSA infection, to prevent bacteria from colonizing the skin.
The study was led by Giovanni Appendino, of the University of the Eastern Piedmont, and published in The Journal of Natural Products

  63. This is scary. In Feb 2007 my prostate PSA was 3.9 (barely within the “acceptable” range of 0-4). After 30 years of regular pot smoking, I quit entirely in March of 2008. No particular reason, just wanted healthier lungs. In Feb of 2009, my PSA jumped to 5.5 and in July of 2009 it’s at 11.4. Serious stuff and now I am like to undergo removal surgery. Is it coincidence or proof?

  64. You dont understand. We are less than trash to the real power in this country. We are even more worthless to them now than in Washingtons time .We are expendable.Get it they want us to die. Population control.

    – IF you still had cannabis available,
    you should have JUST merely
    SWITCHED to a VAPORIZER…
    (Wish I had it, (canna-availability), this easy…).
    Resume, but DON’T SMOKE IT;
    Vape instead!!!

  66. The reason it’s never been legalized? Pot smokers are free thinkers and hard to boss around. Pot smokers aren’t inclined to take much idiocy from others either. It would also put the big pharma out of business. Why is it you think they haven’t come up with a medical use yet? It’s because they can’t bypass those nasty little receptors. And anyone who’s been a recreational smoker for over a period of time will admit, it sure is darned hard to tell a stoner what to do. Pot smokers are also more likely to avoid battles…one good reason the military doesn’t want it near their soldiers.
Ever wonder why we need a drug test to get a job? They aren’t looking for heavy drugs. Those are out of your system in under 72 hours. Pot is the only “drug” that can be detected in the system for longer than that. Hard to boss those pot smokers.
Get half of this country to light up a doob, and the politicians would soon be out of a job. Time to dust off and pass around the Elkhorn Manifesto and educate some more people.

  67. The elites have there own secret stash. You can bet on that, One in two men get prostate cancer, 50,000 die every year from the disease and these scumbags won’t allow the stricken to try cannabis.

  68. Here are the reasons Marijuana started to be illegal AND WILL STAY ILLEGAL in the U.S.
1.) Even if a “cure” to everything, it (Cannabinoids) cannot be patented. Therefore, they must be “suppressed or “buried”).
2.) Was already illegal in early 70’s when the refereed to study was done. Was made illegal right after prohibition to give the then, exclusively, white police force, the ability to put any “uppity” person with shades of brown or black skin in jail immediately for “ungodly” long periods of time just by planting a little marijuana on them, then, placing them under “arrest”. ALSO, made illegal to drive the “colored” populace to the newly made legal, alcoholic beverages.
Think this is outrageously fascist in it’s logic?
Consider this today. approximately 35-40 people EACH YEAR IN THE U.S. ARE KILLED BY “POLICE” THAT BUSTED DOWN THE WRONG DOOR ON A “NO KNOCK” SEARCH FOR MARIJUANA. AND YOUR MAINSTREAM MEDIA SAYS NOTHING. ACTUALLY SUPPORTS YOUR POLICE!!!!!!
4.) Now, prisons have become a “FOR PROFIT” PRIVATE BUSINESS in the U.S! (Same fascist white type that STILL RUN YOUR COUNTRY TODAY. TO KEEP THE “STATE & FEDERAL PRISONS FULL, SO THE “EXCESS DEMAND” FLOWS TO THE “PRIVATE PRISON SECTOR”, these marijuana laws WILL BE KEPT IN PLACE.

  69. Maybe if more people who get regular MSM exposure wouldn’t be such cowards — Phelps, I’m lookin’ in your direction.

  70. Sure… it’s A-OK to give us DRUGS that cause dizziness, nausea, anal bleeding, diarrhea, sensitivity to light, nosebleeds, suicidal thoughts, severe sexual or gambling urges, the urge to shoot up a McDonalds, the urge to suffocate your babies, dementia, blurred vision, etc…
But NO WAY can you have marijuana… the side effects are too dangerous. Munchies, questions, answers, ideas, thoughts, wonder, creativity, and laughter.
Hell.. they won’t even let you have Laetrille, which is nothing more than freeze dried apricot kernels that were crushed and encapsulated, and were scientifically PROVEN to KILL CANCER CELLS ALTOGETHER. In fact, the FDA banned it, and they put a few Doctors in jail and took their licenses to practice medicine for advising patients to go to Mexico to buy it. Reason? It cures cancer, and the FDA, the AMA, the American Cancer Society, and various I.G. Farben (old name, they’ve got a new name now… but just think Nazis and you hit it on the head) colluded together to see to it that it was taken off the shelves and banned.

  71. First off, lets clarify the definition of a drug. A drug is any substance thats isolated and concentrated. This makes Alcohol a drug. Refined Sugar is one of the biggest drugs on the street.
This also means that cannibis is NOT a drug. Therefore should not be subjected to the BS swirling around the “Anti-Drug” viewpoint. And lets not forget, drugs are actually the backbone of most western economies, so the anti stuff is highly selective at best. Don’t believe this? Take a closer look at Afganistan..

  72. It is a plant that wounded, wild animals go to, the eat it, and it deadens the pain.
I suppose that’s the Indigenous Peoples in the Andes, chew the coca leaves.
But any medicine plant, that is continually used, after that, also destroys the neurons of the brain. That little fuzzy feeling you have, perhaps a “buzz” are the neurons dying.
After a while, a person’s sharpness, alertness, is worn off, and they can be easily controlled, and you start to lose track of, or interest in this Reality.
Same as fermented fruit, tcoca leaves, same as poppy, and peyote. A don’t know about Ayahuasca, one pays a heavy price right away with that.

  73. Cannabis promotes peace ,health and creativity. Society today is BASED on war-industry,hate,aggression and intoxication of the public, with alcohol, media and opiates. Legalising it all will rid the world of the drug-mafias. Cannabis HAS been legal in the US of A in several periods, Ford made a car from it!They couldn´t put a dent in it with a sledgehammer!!! Smoke on, the vibes are working!!!

  74. Let me clue you in on this media-blackout theory on this story. There is no conspiracy. Reporters are not “paid” not to write about topics by pharmaceutical companies and so on. They are not “brainwashed” by the government. Plenty of them are rabble-rousers and contrarians just like you who want to ask hard questions of the powers that be.
On the other hand, they are busy grinding out everyday news stories on a frantic, deadline-driven basis. Not all reporters or news outlets are the right agent or venue for a detailed, long-term, investigative piece on the anti-cancer properties of cannabis. Furthermore, if you’re generically pitching the idea to “editor@publication.com” or some other broad contact, chances are it sinks to the bottom of an ever-growing pile of more timely and pressing story ideas.
A better approach is to look at who is covering health and medicine at a publication, TV news group, Web site or whatnot and contact the reporter directly. Give them specifics — facts, local people to talk with, relevance to other things going on in town or the world — and they will have part of the work already mapped for them. Believe me, the more compelling or “sexy” a story, the more interested a reporter is to cover it, mainly because they want their articles to be read and to resonate with the community in a thought-provoking way.
And when jumping into a dense, political topic like medical marijuana, government over-regulation and the like, reporters will be damn careful to represent the establishment side and make sure they are not advocating too subjectively for any particular point of view. It’s their job, it doesn’t mean they are “against” progressive ideas or afraid to challenge the reflexive orthodoxy of society as it stands.
Reporters are your friends, whether they work for the alleged MSM or some obscure blog. Involve them in telling the story, guide them to the source of knowledge and the reason why they should be telling their audience this notion you are so passionate about, and they’ll eagerly take it from there.
    Thanks — a journalist

  76. The people who are REALLY in charge of all the govermnets of the “free world” are population control extremists, who want to reduce the population down to 500 million, as stated in the “Georgia Guidestones” monument. So of course they don’t want any real cancer treatments becoming available to the “sheeple” public. Wake Up! A lot more than legal buds are at stake, as long as these criminals are in charge!

  77. LOL! Protect them? Saying marijuana protects brain cells is like saying cigarettes protects against some mental illnesses. (Some studies indicate that small doses of nicotine can delay schizophrenia.) It’s a ridiculous statement. A single chemical or two, in it’s raw form, COULD be useful. But when you line that up the fact that other chemicals leave residue in the brain for about six months after you light up trumps any good it could do. After a while, this residue builds up and slows down neurons and practically stops nueroplasticity (this is the physical equivalent to learning.) That is how people become “burn outs” when they always seemed to be perpetually high. It’s because their brain is severely slowed down.
[Editor’s note: “Ridiculous statement”? Only if you’re ignorant of the emerging scientific reports regarding cannabis and cancer…]

    Apologetics
    (3)
    – Serving as or containing a
    formal justification or defense:
an apologetic treatise on church doctrine.
[God made cannabis to fulfil the human-body’s
    requirement for specific compounds integral
    for its proper-functioning].

    Apology
    (1)
    – An acknowledgment expressing regret
    or asking pardon
    for a fault or offense.
[The Bible is replete with warnings
specific to the dangers of alcohol,
    which I failed to heed;

What DO YOU KNOW about Ayahuasca???
    – Under the WRONG “set and setting” it
    can produce negative experiences…
(That doesn’t mean that it’s bad in itself…).
    – Ayahuasca mixtures partaken according to
    precautionary indigenous rituals and settings
    can be spiritually-renewing and beneficial…
    – Medicinal-plants are
    wonderful gifts-of-nature;
    – I partially acknowledge what you are saying,
(continuous use of one medicinal constantly
tends to negate its effectiveness and can deplete
    other compounds in the body which it interacts with;
just like eating the same food all of the time
    can get boring and tedious,
    and sometimes, be quite unhealthy…).

    – HOWEVER, the “buzz” from medicinal-plants
    is not from “brain-cells dying”,
    (This is an extremely-simplistic,
    erroneous view…),
but instead, is due to specific
    interactions with distinct

    and

    specific types of cerebral neurochemistry…

    RE: cat chow,
    – Part of “official” reason for the FDA banning
    Laetrille,(amygdalin)
    and the related neo-amygdalin
    (extracted from apricot-seeds),
    is because amygdalin-molecules contain
a CN component, which under certain conditions,
    releases hydrogen-cyanide.
(in combination with the wrong foods, and if
    you haven’t guessed it/ know already…
    when interacting specifically with cancer-cells).

    – The OFFICIAL reason,
    (“could release free-cyanide
    under certain conditions”)

is still a feeble, botaniphobic excuse for outlawing
apricot pits, since amygdalins are also found
in several other species of fruit-seeds,
    AND because
    the CN component generally,
    has much lower-toxicity as a
    part of the amygdalin-molecule,

    than as free cyanide…

    – Ridiculous are the assumptions you’re making,
(that lighting-up cigs or joints is the only way that
the whole-botanical forms of tobacco and cannabis are consumed).
    – Ridiculous is “ruling-out” the efficacy of
the whole botanical-forms of the herbs
soley in favor of isolated-compounds from these.
Have you ever heard of …???
    VAPORIZERS,

vegetable-oil, if one is getting sufficient plant-based
fatty-acids in their diet, “residues” won’t “accumulate”
    as quickly…

    botanically-derived nicotine,
    (which functions as an acetylcholine-agonist,
increases levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine,
    responsible for memory-formation…),
    AND cannabis TINCTURES / OINTMENTS

    tincture-component be kept artificially-overpriced
via a bogus “war on SOME drugs” any longer?!?!?!
    😈

  84. Jay: I know a similar story about a lady who had colon problems for many years. It was mild but she decided to quit smoking her “leafys” (weed). Within two years she had developed full blown Crohn’s Disease which like cancer has been linked to mutating cells. Is it coincidence? Should Cannabis be part of our diet? Was the small THC amounts enough to prevent cell mutation? These are questions which should be addressed not buried in media hype about the evils of cannabis. Now, a few years later, 3/4 of her colon has been surgically removed. Much worse!
It has been proven, over and over, that THC in high enough doses will stop cell mutation, which is cancer, Crohn’s,even heart disease and more. So, any disease linked to mutating cells could conceivably be treated this way with extracts. Of course it might not work for everything, but who cares? It’s one more tool in an arsenal.

  86. The Good News is that God is not on their side this time. So often in the coarse of time this country gas relied on the fact that God was on their side during times of War.
Memories meander through time on a voyage over an ocean of ages. One of them traveled back to the day God said, “Let us make man in our image, and after our likeness”. Remembering the words came easy, because at that time we were talking about how Neanderthals were still dragging their knuckles…
Mother Nature’s course of evolution had done a fine job so far; but God knew He could do a lot better. God did make man in His own image, both male and female; He created them and blessed them. God gave them dominion over every living thing that moved upon the earth, including the evolved species, the cattle of the land, even the fish of the seas and the fowls of the air. Every living thing that moved upon the earth was a gift to humanity whose purpose was to subdue and replenish the earth. God said to be fruitful and multiply; this is His Divine Will.
When God created man, there were already living beings through out the universe, and upon this very planet that had evolved. Among the original beings were 144,000 angels assigned to watch over and serve God’s creation. We did watch in awe and admiration as the beginning of time became manifest before our very eyes. We watched this all week long!
Of course in God’s Kingdom the days are not measured in earth’s 24 hour increments. There are millions of earth years in just one of God’s days, and seven days at God’s house is really quite a long time compared to a week on this little planet.

However, one cannot educate without first being educated. And only through peace, education, and probably shame for the wicked, can we expect to enlighten the ignorant.
You are all supposed to be kings free to do as you please. Remember that the people who purport to hold office and dictate to you what you can and cannot do, all took oaths which they are obliged to obey by law. That law comes from, “…the consent of the governed.”(Declaration of Independence). Without your consent there are a great many rules, statutes, and ordinances which simply do not apply to you. In 1970 there existed approximately 700 Million “laws” in these united states (capitalization intentional). How many “laws” are there now? You simply cannot be required to obey that which you do not have enough life to read. Truth be told, you cannot even be required to read.
The real law is self-evident, do not harm others. It is harming someone to pretend to be their master, and even more so to actually be their master. It is also harming others to pass enough so-called laws that all men are criminals. Thought is powerful, if you think you are a slave or a criminal, who besides Mom will try to convince you otherwise? My advice, if I may offer it without insulting, is to learn about the supremacy of contract. The Constitution that so many point to as the source for their rights, binds those that purport to be the government. It does not bind you. Allow me to provide a couple of simple questions then I will go.
Do any one of you have a legitimate claim to be able to require me to do anything? (I am assuming you realize you do not.)
Since no one of you purports (I hope) to be able to require me to do anything. I just have one more question.
How can two or more of you vote to give someone else power that you do not possess?
I recommend reading Lysander Spooner (or listen to his work No Treason on Youtube). Also, try to keep in mind that all crime requires a real flesh and blood victim. You could violate statues, rules, and ordinances all day long, but if no flesh and blood person is harmed, you have not committed a crime. (And yes, stealing is harming someone.)
Apologies around for going on so long, but hopefully this will remind some of you not to despair. You are in charge, why not start enjoying your freedom?
By the way, this study seems to indicate that pot consumption causes new brain cell growth.

  89. It’s High Time We Legalize Marijuana and Hemp!
The War on Drugs is more than a colossal failure, it’s a farce and a criminal conspiracy brewed up among a few politicians and business leaders for personal and corporate profit. True examples of corruption
The good news is that God is not on their side in the War on Drugs. So often Americans went to war under the distinct impression that God was on their side. But that is not the case in the Drug War, in fact He is quite offended by the activities of the drug warrior zealot who brings misery to his own people and kindred. This is a sad state of affairs, because these well meaning otherwise useful citizens are destroying their own country with this civil war they are prosecuting.
Enough is enough, and I tell you the truth, You’re in a heap of trouble with the Lord God Almighty… Shame on you!
These folks are bought and paid for by lobbying, PR, and advertising firms representing companies that profit greatly from the prohibition and the ensuing War on Drugs. They are putting their children through the best colleges and Universities with the robust profits derived from nothing other than the prohibition against marijuana.
That plus the total elimination of the totally harmless commodity of hemp, which would compete fiercely with their products of paper made from trees, and rope made from nylon. We all know who these people are, and so does the government who’s politicians are also bought and sold by these same individuals. It is up to us to rid congress and the senate of these political leaders that are the best that money can buy, and we can do it by the ballot.
I highly recommend you consider electing Colonel Pepper to the office of President. I inhaled and won’t lie about it. Furthermore due to the fact that possession of even small amounts has always been a felony along the the use of marijuana itself a felonies, I figure that in the past 40 years I have committed about 5,000 felonies that I was never caught committing, and no proof exists to win a conviction either, so I just got away with it and nobody was hurt.
Furthermore, I believe there is a provision written into law that states something along the line, “If a law is repugnant to the Constitution, then it is null and void.”
Well marijuana prohibition laws are repugnant to the Constitution, because, they were the result of a criminal conspiracy between certain legislators and a few industry leaders. (ie: Randolf Hurst from the lumber mills and Du Ponts chemical company to name a couple right away. This law is based on the lie that marijuana is a narcotic drug and those hopelessly addicted to this drug are a menace to society. (See the propaganda movie, “Reefer Madness”)
The prohibition itself is a menace to society, and it has devided this nation in two; with brainwashed masses up in arms against the reform minded individuals who seek to change the law. The brainwashed seem to think that to have an opinion different from the government’s own criminal code is a crime in it’s own right. John McCain once wrote me in response to my inquiry about reforming the laws against marijuana, that I deserved to be in prison because of my point of view. It makes you wonder how he ever lost the election to President. I myself am going to seek the nomination from the GOP, and plan to run against President Obama in 22012.

  90. i think some of you posting on this site have been smoking to much cannabis.
if any of this is true then why have my friends died of cancer when he used to smoke it everyday. when he found out he had cancer he stopped smokin and started eating it. the cancer had been removed by the drs but there was a chance it could come back it came back even though he was taking canabis
can you please give me a good enough reason rather than a government cover up

  91. My husband has been smoking cannabis to help him have a better quality of life b/c the heart medications leave him completely exhausted. He’s also been using cannabis oil tincture on his cancerous lesions (the cancer is a side effect of some of his pills and his doctor even told him as much) and his lesions are disappearing! But b/c we have very fascist-minded neighbors who reported the smoke smell, the sheriff’s department searched and seized all of his medicine. Don’t tell me there is no conspiracy!!! They are planning on putting a sick man in jail, and if they do, he will die there. The Federal government and the local Sheriff’s department are guilty of assisting in my husband’s demise. I WILL SUE!!!!!!!!

  92. Marihuana is Technically a natural herb, not a drug. Cannot be patented. Pharmaceutical companies are public companies that make money selling drugs. FDA is paid 800 million for the permission to patent a drug. Natural herbs will cut into profits. do the math. There was an interesting report on the history channel recently regarding this.

  93. I could not have written a better article about this hypocrisy. It takes a lot of work to be this informed. A+

  94. I think there might be a lot of misunderstanding in this article… What I am referring to is the misunderstanding of the method of administering the cannabinoids. Smoking marijuana is not the method that these scientists are using. They are creating solutions in an oil form which are concentrated in THC or cannabidiol and they inject it intratumorally. Smoking it will most likely due nothing to actually help fight the cancer itself, other than palliative therapy, because the concentration of THC isn’t enough to induce apoptosis, autophagy, or decrease cell proliferation. So it is not like cannabis is this magnificent drug that the government is keeping from the people. They just don’t know enough about it, they hardly have the mechanisms down for the endocannabinoid system. Also it is necessary to understand that in vitro, or animal models will respond differently than in humans. Check out the pilot clinical trial to see how the 9 glioblastoma multiforme patients responded. They all still didn’t make it past one year, which is the unfortunate prognosis of GBM. And just because pharmaceutical companies cannot patent the plant, they can patent methods of injecting it. So if cannabis works they will find a way to patent it. As of right now, we cannot say that it really works until we get into phase 2/3 clinical trials where we have a mass amount of people in the trial.
