‘NORML@40’ is a retrospective video series that documents the trials, tribulations, and accomplishments of America’s marijuana consumer lobby from those who kept the movement going for the past four decades.
In this episode, founder and legal counsel Keith Stroup looks back on the first years of NORML and how the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse provided him with a clear mission.

Get active; get NORML!
Too Cool!
Great job Keith, Nixon, what a douche!
Interesting…one of my old college professors let me have a few of his books. In my search I was able to get a copy of the report signed by Marvin Wolfgang.
If NORML is interested, I would be willing to give it to you.
I love these!
Could listen Keith speak all day long!
This video clip with Keith Stroup explaining the parallel formation of the Shafer Commission and NORML is pretty cool. Both the Shafer Commission Report and it’s government-funded predecessor the La Guardia Commission Report found and published recommendations for de-criminalizing cannabis. Both Commission Reports were suppressed, shelved, and ignored. Well, not so much ignored as used as the target of regurgitated fear-mongering propaganda initiated by Harry Anslinger and his gang of thugs. Exactly how many more rational science-based taxpayer-funded studies must be conducted before the War on Drugs is ended?
It is hardly credible that the very same original rationale behind “Reefer Madness” could survive 70+ years of cannabis prohibition through sheer inertia. There must be another continuously reinvigorated source of inspiration for the persecution of cannabis and its’ proponents. Follow the money, as a good journalist once stated.
Many of the “independent” organizations in opposition to decriminalization or re-legalization of cannabis get their funding from captains of industry. Those very same industries that helped initiate prohibition in the first place are still at financial risk from the prospect of cannabis|hemp re-legalization.
Henry Ford built his “Hemp Auto” to illustrate that an environmentally friendly vehicle could be largely constructed of, and powered by hemp. It is perhaps not so coincidental that the unveiling of his revolutionary vehicle was timed so closely with the passage of the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937. Just as today, with the DEA “green-lighting” Big Pharma to re-engage in the preparation of extracts of natural cannabis medicines as a counter argument to the groundswell of States legalizing Medical Marijuana and de-criminalizing of cannabis.
Blatant government intercession in providing economic advantage to favored crony corporatist special interests to the detriment of the health, wealth, and well-being of that government’s citizens is a central hallmark of State Corporatism, also known as fascism.
The DEA is again ramping up persecution of marijuana and it’s proponents, now targeting the “low-hanging fruit” of State-legal MMJ dispensaries and co-operatives. They are using legislation intended for the War on Terror to attack MMJ, including their new intel gathering powers, civil and criminal asset forfeiture, and violating Federal HIPPA laws protecting physician-patient confidentiality. Please remind me again — who are the “terrorists”, the people or the government itself?
How many more States will have to follow the path of instituting MMJ programs before the Federal government relents and ends the persecution of cannabis|hemp and their draconian “War on People”? Push-back from the Federal government against the rights of States violates the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution. If “our” Federal legislators cannot find the time or inclination to pass legislation that ends this repressive madness, then a revolution at the ballot box is required in order to turn these politicians out of office, permanently. Repairing the damage already done to the Constitution will take far longer, imvho.
Donald Trump says he would legalize cannabis and tax it.

He might actually have a shot at winning if he runs.
It seems like the logical thing to do would be to create a permanent commission to pick up where the last one left off. If you could get that added to any federal law that is somewhat related that would be a good idea. Give obama the modern day version of that report, or whoever is after him.
Who’s got the biggest balls of them all? Do surveys on legalizing cannabis linked with the jobs it will create. Then get a group of national politicians to suggest it on a whim and agitprop indicating the public not only got the quip but also was seriously in favor of legalizing cannabis. Take it from there. Keep running the economy into the ground until they realize cuts do not make the kind of jobs and number of jobs that the country needs. I don’t want to wait for a new Shafer style commission to be appointed and go duplicate and expand what we already know.

The enemy, that you know, is better than, the enemy, you don’t know.
The greatest trick My Evil Brother ever pulled off is making us believe he doesn’t exist – at least he would like us to believe that the “illusion of presence” is so. The results of this is that evil will always prevail when the good do nothing, and those who sacrifice freedom for order will receive neither. “My Evil Brother is the true enemy of our Sacrament,” and he is not alone. The King and his Court “have control” of We the People, and “we are expendable.”
Well! – “My Evil Brother exists in our America!” – make no mistake about that! Stick your finger in the air and see which way the wind blows. Once you step onto My Evil Brother’s path of darkness – forever will your destiny be. You will not be able to escape that destiny no matter how hard you try. Once My Evil Brother “owns you” – your soul will be putty in [his] hands – and – mush in [your] own hands. Unless you are a mindless puppet, firmly attached to puppet master’s strings – your consternation will destroy you – and – you will decry shoulda, woulda, coulda, perhaps, or if only. So! – “It’s up to you!” You don’t have to make a trial run on “his dark path” – just ask any individual that has already had acquaintance with “his dark path” – they will gladly offer you their experience as a caveat emptor.
So! We need to know which suction cup [who] is attached to My Evil Brother’s tentacles. Any suction cup, by name, [who] would vote [for] prohibition – is an enemy of We the People, which is an “Enemy of the State – our State.” It’s not a matter of cannabis – it’s a matter of our Constitution and our rights. It’s a matter of tyranny over state sovereignty. It’s a matter of freedom.
I had pretty much dropped out by this time; living in a country commune with no TV, radios, newspapers. It’s very interesting to hear this story. The bit about the commission watching marijuana smokers blows me away, almost as much as the revelation that they were earnest people who sought to do a good job.

“Where rights are secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no rule making or legislation which would abrogate them.” Miranda vs Arizona, 384 U.S. 436, 491.
“When any court violates the clean and unambiguous language of the Constitution, a FRAUD is perpetrated and no one is bound to obey it.” State vs Sutton Minn. (147, 65 NW 262, 30 L.R.A. 630 Am. St. 459)
“When man persists in defying his own power – God will call him to account, and exact a terrible punishment.”
Perhaps – that punishment will first be at the hands of his victims. Perhaps – his cry for mercy will fall on deaf ears. So shall he do onto others, so shall it be done onto him. Frankly – it’s beyond me how prohibitionists can live with themselves, let alone live with those they have so deeply harmed. Oh well! “What goes around – comes around.”

To eliminate the possibility of any and all confusion about what a Genesist is – it’s this:
Whatever one’s monotheistic religion may be – Genesists hold fast to the faith [trust and belief] that God, not only created us as individuals – but – gave us Manna [cannabis] as a Sacrament [Genesis I;29,30,31]. It’s just that simple – no more – no less.

“Sometimes – I amaze my self.”
Every time I think – “I know it all” – the reality marquis bills me as – “Dumb as a Box of Rocks.” The “Now Playing” reality posters, proves to my satisfaction, that “I have not yet achieved my full potential.” This truth, applied to my conscience, truth [to] myself, and the passion of my individualism – makes it absolutely necessary for me to ask my self – IF – what they’re trying to hand me is the truth – or – just a pack of lies. They can lie to me [until] I catch them in their lie [then] – IF- they continue to lie to me, and refuse to quit [just quit] – they must answer to me for their aggression on my freedom. IF – in their aggression they violate my Constitution – the penalty shall be as severe as any penalty can be – and – meet the full measure and effect exacted by law. IF – that doesn’t work – if they “refuse” to get the message – “Let’s take it outside!!!” One way or another – I’m gonna get a hunk of their ass – a full pound of flesh!” I can have no compassion for them – because – they have slapped every available cheek, kicked every available ass, shot every available dog, scared every available gramma half to death, ruined every available family, and totally disregarded every available warning I’ve given them.
3141 Geneists Colonies in the U.S, must give our total support to Montana in their time of federal aggression – because – we don’t know which state will be next.

I typically do not vote , cause I think it’s just the lesser of the evils ! just out to wiggle around to get what they want. but, I wound deffinately vote for someone that wanted listen to what the people are actually saying, instead of just ignoring the whole issue by calling it ‘inoppropriate’ , really?
