National Cancer Institute scrubs "anti-tumoral effect" of cannabinoids from website

You may recall last Wednesday when we pointed out this incredible paragraph on the website of the National Cancer Institute at cancer.gov, on their general information about medical cannabis, touting its antitumoral effects:

The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. In the practice of integrative oncology, the health care provider may recommend medicinal Cannabis not only for symptom management but also for its possible direct antitumor effect.

NCI apparently got a talking to from someone, because now that page has been scrubbed of any reference to the direct antitumoral effects of cannabis:

The potential benefits of medicinal Cannabis for people living with cancer include antiemetic effects, appetite stimulation, pain relief, and improved sleep. Though no relevant surveys of practice patterns exist, it appears that physicians caring for cancer patients who prescribe medicinal Cannabis predominantly do so for symptom management.

  1. I just wonder about how much longer it will be until we realize our “mother may I” approach to the movement isn’t heavy enough. Topics like this are what set me off, and unless we ACT, unless we SPEAK LOUDLY, we will remain silent.

  2. I would expect nothing less from a government who lies to us about getting into a “war.” This is the agonal breath of a bad policy, which unfortunately wouldn’t die fast enough.

  3. If the government is to go so far as to stop the treatment of the most deadly disease in the history of man kind, what makes us think we can actually win this war?
The governments complete lack of humanity really has me loosing all hope for the cause. What can we do?

  4. Big Brother is ever vigilant and working hard to keep us all safe from that demon plant that probably cures cancer. Thanks, Big Brother! I for one know that you only have our best interests in mind.

  5. The nazi censors should be held accountable for this.As far as I`m concerned if these bozos lie on this the whole country is fueled by lies and deception. Were doomed. Roman empire replay without the technology. We are run by lying thieves, crooks and hypocrites. Its impossible to believe Any of these politicians, govt officials and anybody associated with this regime and there propaganda. The Nazis wuold be envious.

  6. Ok, has anyone contacted the NCI and inquired about this?
This is something that requires some serious investigation because that is VERY odd!
This needs to be made as publicly aware as possible. So people can truly see how deceitful these people really are.
This is going front page top of the list on every site I can get my fingers on.

  7. This is hardly surprising. My first thought when I read the original article was that if they left the info about anti-tumoral properties it would provide a basis to challenge the government’s assertions that cannabis has no medicinal value. They can leave the parts about pain mitigation because the DEA and FDA have already declared that using cannabis for simple pain management is only symptom abatement and can be accomplished using drugs currently on the legal market and therefore, in their minds, cannabis is not a real medicine. If they start admitting that cannabis may actually combat the root causes of some diseases rather than simply counteracting their symptoms, they will no longer be able to maintain the charade that cannabis is medically useless.
Of course, even if the only medicinal property of cannabis is pain abatement, its use should be legal. The truth, as we all know, is that the vast majority of the modern medical industry is focused on symptom management rather than curing diseases. If symptom management is not a legitimate use for medicine, we need to ban the vast majority of both otc and prescription meds. If you have a cold, you take a cough suppressant; this is symptom management, as suppressing the cough is symptom management, not a cure for the common cold. If you break a bone, the doctor may give you hydrocodone or percocet; they will make you high enough to deal with the pain, but they play no role in healing your broken bone. Even if you have something dangerous, like high blood pressure, the doctor will put you on blood pressure pills. These pills try to keep your blood pressure down, but, again, it is aimed at the symptom, not the cause. People should have the right to address the symptoms of their illnesses – indeed, the illness itself – as they see best, and for many, that may mean using cannabis as medicine.

  8. I just don’t understand what the government is trying to do, lose more and more trust from American people? I mean more and more people know the real truth, and as we see the government keep trying to downplay or ignore it, we can’t help but feel betrayed by the people who are supposed to be serving us.
Also, the “not FDA approved” line is laughable. Cannabis has been tested FAR more than the majority of these “FDA approved” pills. And guess which treatments for ANY condition have far more dangerous side effects? The “FDA approved” pills. I mean guess what’s “FDA approved” in this sick country. Amphetamines for six year olds. What a joke.

  10. Its a shame that misinformed ideology has put a restriction on a plant which has been found time and time again to help people.
We should be pushing for exploration into every possible medicinal use of this plant so that maybe someday chemotherapy will be regarded as an archaic treatment.

  11. This is pretty low even for the government. This would be like the 6 foot 300 pound athlete beating the crap out of all of the average students while all the teachers watch from the teachers lounge.

  12. RISK TAKING
Would you say that sky diving, swimming in shark infested waters, or driving in NASCAR is taking risks. At least – if your parachute doesn’t open, or you end up a great white’s lunch, or you crash and burn in the wall, your worries are pretty much zero. On the other hand – if you get busted for “possessing a joint” – a myriad of consequences [all bad] that will attach itself to you for a long time. Nobody can say that we are not “risk takers.” Hell yes we are – and hell yes we intend to continue to be “risk takers.” We take that risk “for freedom.” In fact – we’ve been known to die “for freedom.” So! prohibs should not underestimate our intent. Now! Are prohibitionists “risk takers?” You bet your ass they are! They’re betting their political ass, and personal reputation, that they will get elected or re-elected for opposing the will of We the People and the violation of our Constitution. So! in the end – it’s a battle of will – and – a matter of commitment, and stubbornness. “The 420 Invasion” – 4-20 @ 4:20 is only 21 days away – and – the message we send prohibs as American citizens will soon be laid on their table. They are either going to realize their defeat or die in their political seat.

  13. Haven’t they hung themselves? Aren’t they saying here’s the proof we’re hiding the cure the truth?
Bet someone could get rich in Japan selling cannabis oil 18% thc for $10 an ounce.
How is this not genoside. Treason.
Boom baby It’s about alot more than a buzz.

  14. Click the link vince posted, it has a long section about the anti tumoral effects of cannabis. It’s just on another section of the website.

  15. actually all the information about anti tumor effects of cannabis is still on the website. they just moved it… its harder to locate, quite difficult actually… you go to the main site, then click on ‘cancer topics’, then scroll down to ‘pdq’, then click on PDQ® Cancer Information Summaries: Complementary and Alternative Medicine, then click on ‘cannabis and cannibinoids’ then click on ‘pre clinical/lab studies’

  17. They don’t want anyone knowing about it because then more lives will be saved and god forbid we actually extend peoples lives who are in pain and dying. The government WANTS you dead ASAP, that’s why all the drugs that the FDA says is safe have dangerous side effects and whatnot. Big Bro doesn’t want you around anymore breathing his free air.

  18. Medical science is being censored by police!
WHAT THE HELL IS OBAMA DOING? I CANNOT BELIEVE NOTHING HAS CHANGED! VOTE THE BASTARD OUT NEXT TIME!

  19. After watching The Dr. Oz show, this happens.
Talking about organized crime and big business?!
Federal government got a plan for 2012: If you want a job you must give up your rights.
( Of course they would not say it that way but they will make it as your choice.)
Marijuana is about saving your rights.

  20. People who have Cancer deserve the knowledge needed to best address their needs! The dire needs of those who have Cancer do not include “Self Serving Priorities” of others. I can only imagine the fury of Pharmaceutical supporters of The National Cancer Institute when they considered the Study “Marijuana Inhalation Associated with Spontaneous Tumor Regression”; and the economic threat of Cannabis. Do the Marijuana supporters want to bankrupt the Pharmaceutical Industry? Have you ever wondered why none of the Drug Trials are focused on any Cure of anything? Oh no, all drug trials are to find Drug Treatments! Cures of conditions would break the Pharms!

  21. When they did studies on anti tumour effects in 1974 the government knew then that marijuana was the best and most effective painless process to quickly digress metastasis of tumours anywhere in the body even the very elusive brain tumours which are difficult with medicine due to the infamous blood brain barrier. The thing is simple, evil conspiracy. Keep the people sick and poor and cancer is the number one catalyst for such goals. Nothing puts people into more debt and keeps more people sick as well as allows for Big Pharma to sell more poison to take even more money. They aren’t stupid, they aren’t benevolent, they aren’t for us. People need to wake up and walk out.

  22. the goverment does not care about the citizens , our elected officials only care about the campaign dollars stuffed in there pockets. big pharmacuticals will keep poring money to our elected officails so they can work on making a drug that will act like pot. when they discover it . they will have every doctor in the world pushing it. it is funny to me that if you take a survey and ask 100 people to define politician youll get 95 percent negative responce. like liar, cheat. scum bag , carpet bagger, low life and on and on but yet when election time comes around everyone falls all over themselves to vote these thiefing cheats to office. i think anyone identifying themselves as politican should be put in jail not elected , until the people of this country wake up were in for more of this crap

  23. Paul– You only needed to post that response once. You didn’t need to do it on each and every comment.
The oppression will never end until we refuse to be oppressed. Begging for scraps of liberty will never get us there.

  24. ON SECOND THOUGHT!
If this is – “THE WAY OF IT” – the way politicians conduct their actions to the vital issue of cannabis – IS IT ANY WONDER – how they conduct their actions to any other vital issue of our country. This is absolutely unacceptable to the American people, as evidenced by the administration’s latest disapproval rate [46%]. Do you think that they consider themselves failures? Do ya think? The administration’s disapproval rate includes “all politicians, departments, agencies, and influences.” To those who have lost their passion – remember this – “There’s more of us than there is of them.” There is safety i numbers! Keep the faith!

  25. It all comes down to $$$$$$..the pharmaceutical companies will lose so much money if medical marijuana is proved to help relieve pain..they would rather you take their percocets, vicodins, morphine than to grow your own plant to relieve the pain..
Why isn’t anyone talking about this subject?

  26. See? I said it in the other thread a few days ago. They were going to get a visit and yup they got there visit…
From the goon squad and censorship rules.

  27. Doesn’t the FDA already have a Investigational New Drug (IND) Program on cannabis, and has had it for years?

  28. My Dad used to say speak your mind but “don’t put it in writing” ~ Rejoice, These guys at NCI broke that rule ~ We have the original and the new version ~ Get this story out everywhere and do it now ~ Avoid hysterical verbage and let the truth speak using the facts ~ “If the arrow is straight and the point is slick, it can pierce through the dust no matter how thick” Bob Dylan and Dear National Cancer Institute, a closing word from my Mom “Be sure your sins will find you out” (NCI must have not read THE TELL TALE HEART by Edgar Allen Poe) ~

  29. I’ve begun pounding our local paper with letters and comments such as the following:
This month’s Scientific American (April, 2011) contains a chilling article about our lack of new antibiotics to fight these supergerms. Klebsiella pneumoniae is classified with a group of bacteria called ‘gram-negative’. The common Escherichia Coli, which is found in the human gut, is also gram-negative. These kinds of bacteria can freely swap genes across species. The resistance evolved by one such organism can be readily transferred to another. One case involved a man infected with a resistent strain of E. Coli, yet had never been hospitalized. This means the resistence is spreading into the general environment. Bacteria evolve rapidly with a new generation every 20 minutes. It takes ten years of trials to bring a drug to market.
Are any of you scared yet? You should be. Did you ever smell a runaway infection on an injured animal?
The cannabinoids have been show to tear up the cell walls of a different type of superbug, the gram-positive bacteria called MRSA. Don’t expect studies exposing K pneumoniae to cannabinoids any time soon though. Drug War ideologues don’t believe in medical marijuana and have been more than willing to block studies of any kind.
Take some time to get informed:

Thwarting the advance of medical science is nothing short a crime against humanity.
Did you ever smell a runaway infection on a child? Do you want to? Stop the madness.

  30. prolly more like pharmacorp made em take it down not the fed…. well there aint too much of a difference between the 2 these days

  31. 12:46 p.m. I just got off the phone [short conversation] with Louie from the Las Vegas Colony who said this, and I quote:
“I don’t know about all that regime change bullshit – if anyone needs a regime change it’s us!”

  32. On the same site for the NCI under Cancer Topics in the left search box check out.>>Laboratory/Animal/Preclinical Studies.I think the information provided is quite amazing.Worth reading in my opinion.

  33. I cammend NCI for telling the truth about the positive of cannabis eaten and vaporized there is only good thing of its medical benefits. I fear our government and the unconstitutional law that perpetuate these destructive laws But why bow down and chage your findings. It is time for a national debate and a public vote on theses bad laws

  34. doesnt surprise me one bit. oh its out of there now, then it never existed. our govt. can anyone see any difference between OUR GOVT and IRAQ, IRAN, SOVIET RUSSIA, or hey EGYPT or LIBIA? what happened there washington??? no more respect for them at all, THEY HAVENT EARNED IT!!!!!! thank you, a US citizen

  35. I decided to contact them and the sent me this ……
NCI Information Specialist : We believe the information you are referring to is from a PDQ summary on cannabis and cannabinoids.
In writing Cancer Information Summaries, PDQ Editorial Boards review current evidence. They do not make recommendations. Their work is editorially independent of the National Cancer Institute (NCI). The summary on cannabis and cannabinoids does not represent a policy statement of NCI or NIH. The summary statement represents an independent review of the literature; that review is not influenced by NCI or any other federal agency.
In light of the attention garnered by the PDQ summary statement on cannabis and cannabinoids, reviewers for the summary on the PDQ Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) Editorial Board re-examined the recently posted statement and decided to change the wording, in order to clarify the meaning that the Board originally intended to convey, and to correct several possible misinterpretations.
We do have information about rational for the specific changes that were made. I will be right back with that information.

  36. Bottom Line –
I’ll take a puff every 5 minutes – and you take a tylenol every 5 minutes…. Let’s see who ends up in the emergency room first….
I’d like to see the FDA or any other agency dispute the danger of cannabis compared to 99% of the crap sold over the counter @ walgreens… They cannot keep the lies a secret forever !

  37. We all need to be optimistic and be POTimistic. We need to believe in weed being legal one day. Hopefully soon. We need to be stronger in this and show more support ever! For everyone who thinks weed will never be legal it’s because your not willing to write more letters, vote on more internet polls and look past the things that make it seem illegal like greed and chuches opposing because there are ways around that. If you write back saying “Oh he’s full of it” or ” It’s never gonna be legal” while you sit there like a complete loser than you are pesimistic. I know it will become legal and I want everyone to think the same, no matter whos against it or how hard it looks to legalize weed. Heres my slogan for my optmistic views. LETS BE POTIMISTIC!!

  38. Sorry if i accidently posted it twice. It did’nt show the first one right away I think God wants everyone to be OPTIMISTIC or in my words POTIMISTIC so he made it to where I posted this twice. Lets all get out of the negtive mindset and start believing weed will be LEGALIZED and everyone will be happy.
Allen St. Peirre,if you read this I would want the word POTIMISTIC to be used more often. I want a change badly and having a slogan like LETS BE POTIMISTIC will change peoples mindset from being negative about weed being legal to positive. This will be a major step forward. Having a positive mindset lets you acheive things in life, no matter how hard.

  39. Dose not the fact that the feds already said it and we now have proof that they said it locked into cyberspace mean anything? I would keep pushing the statement before the changes were made and make the bear the burden of proof that they were incorrect in there first statement. Don’t let them call it a typo.

  40. I just want to know what their rational thought is on why anything including cannabis should be reconsidered for treatment for something as deadly and horrible as cancer. Why is it so bad that people would decide to smoke and free themselves of pain and suffering, even if it is an illicit drug? Why should the truth be censored? Just legalize marijuana. A safer, less intense recreational drug, plus a great treatment for an array of illnesses. The people are getting more and more fed up with reefer madness and lies. Speak out evryone! We can change the law!

  41. In a world dominated by mass media, mass advertising, and mass deceit….
The benefits of feeling happy are invaluable.
    This plant kills cancer cells.
This plant points out how much we the people have been lied to.
It is clearly about more than a “high”. I think we ought to call it cannabis drunk personally.
This move by the NCI is great in my opinion, why would the government try to hide one of its lies, i.e. cannabis fights cancer.
Real freedom now. Else you get iron and lead.

  42. I was expecting this to happen. I knew Gilly K. wouldn’t put up with the truth being posted on a .gov website.

  43. Dr. Oz Show needs Part 2.
Why and How the Obama Administration keeps Medical Marijuana illegal.
They didn’t want to reschedule it to a Class 3 which would have been like a speeding ticket.
When the truth comes out, the government starts covering it up.

  44. A couple days ago, I recalled the report on marijuana Nixon commissioned.
It came back with findings not to his liking…so he fired them all…and constituted a new committee, which miraculously came to the conclusions he liked.
So nice living in a country…so much like the “red” ones he condemned……

  45. It’s THAT time people!
I smell REVOLUTION in the air!!!
I want my rights you government bastards…All of them!REVOLT! REVOLT! REVOLT!
    Revolt against Government Lies!
    Revolt against Government Corruption!!
    Revolt against Government Scoundrelism!!!
    ***END CANNABIS PROHIBITION***
    4/20/2011 @ 4:20!!!!
    ***YES WE CAN***

  46. “….Editorial Board re-examined the recently posted statement and decided to change the wording, in order to clarify the meaning that the Board originally intended to convey….”
    This is Orwelian doublespeak.
The list of Obamian doublespeak is growing: man caused disasters (terrorism), countering violent extreemism (war on terror), Overseas contingency operations (wars in Iraq and Afganistan), kinetic operation (war in Libya).
And now Obama’s Drug Tzar says he wants to ban the phrase “war on drugs”. Though, I have not heard what inane phrase he plans to use instead.
ARE THESE PEOPLE INSANE? ARE AMERICANS REALLY SO STUPID AS TO VOTE OBAMA BACK INTO OFFICE?

  47. The GOVERNMENT should rewrite the the first three words in the CONSTITUTION from WE THE PEOPLE to WE THE FEDS because that is just the way it is when we have a TOTALITARIAN GOVERNMENT. DO AS I SAY OUR WAY OR OUR WAY PERIOD. Their are no two sides but one like a two headed coin. The facts are in but the FDA (FEDERAL DEATH AUTHORITY) are still in denial. They can support BIG PHARMA and are just worried about TAXES and not the victims of side effects of BIG PHARMA DRUGS in which SYNTHETICS are always going to battle NATURAL. Our bodies have the cannaboid receptors to accept THC so whats the problem. MARIJUANA PROHIBITION and a government to tell us what we can and can’t ingest. The DEA and the FDA go hand in hand when it comes to blocking the real truth about marijuana. Too much hand to hand creates hairy palms and a lot of friction but have a lot of our tax dollars to soothe the pain. GREED KILLS and GREED CONTROLS without MORALITY or HUMAN COMPASSION. The SERFS who pay taxes are just on the bottom of the HUMAN CHAIN. Our LOGISTICTS are being taken away for fantasy of a ORWELLIAN MENTALITY.

  48. Way to go NORML!!! So glad u guys are on top of your game, together with the great research and breakthroughs MAPS (www.maps.org) is giving us, there is no stopping the truth to be revealed to the masses, lets just hope the people are ready!!!!!

  49. You know, by trying to cover up their confession, they confess while doing it. Imagine tylenol being illegal, and replace marijuana with tylenol
Doesn’t that staatement sound like a medical description for a cancer med?
Here’s Gil: “So, the first statement said cannabis was medicine, so we cut it, and replaced it with something that said cannabis is medicine. Hmmm…..What now, guys?”
I almost feel sorry for that man. A rock to his left, and a hard place on his right. Cheer up, Gilly. After your job is deleted from the gov’t payroll and weed is legal in stores, swing by my place and I’ll pack us a big fat bowl.

  50. Ridiculous. Utterly Ridiculous that the justice department would even waste their time prosecuting those with a recommendation.

  51. As a former National Cancer Institute official myself during the Carter administration, I was and am as upset as anyone that any statement re: cannabis/anti-tumor effects got scrubbed anywhere from the NCI site (even though it was left intact elsewhere.) HOWEVER, I remain elated and very optimistic (or is it now potimistic?) that the NCI has finally acknowledged (and still acknowledges) in detail the numerous beneficial uses of cannabis in the treatment of cancer patients. If they had listed only one medical use, it would put the lie to continuing cannabis in Schedule 1. The fact that they listed numerous beneficial uses for cancer patients ALL put the lie to Schedule 1.
I want to commend my NCI successors in the Office of Cancer Communication for finally stating the obvious and sticking by it. As for the scrubbing of the cancer/anti-tumor statement, here is what I am sending them this morning:
    —-
Apropos of the “scrubbing” of the NCI web-site, it is time for an open hearing on the cannabis/anti-tumor issue in Bethesda. NIH has plenty of meeting spaces large enough to hold the hundreds (thousands) of scientists who could speak to the medical benefits of cannabis, including its anti-tumor properties. The fact that the NCI has now acknowledged (and still acknowledges) on its web-site the several beneficial medical uses of cannabis with cancer patients is a major step forward and suggests some major backbone growth at NIH. It is time to extend this bravery to an open and honest review of the science regarding the anti-tumor properties of cannabis.
The first two teams of scientists I want to hear from are Tashkin et al (UCLA) and Kelsey et al (Brown) on the preventive impact of recreational cannabis use for reducing lung and head/neck cancer incidence. (In fact, I want to get their autographs.)
    And that’s just for starters.
Come on, NCI. Prove to us that science still matters to someone in Washington, that you folks are no longer willing to be part of the flat earth society that has dominated the medical cannabis debate. From here, it sure appears that way all of a sudden, and that is very encouraging.
Now, NCI, let’s go the next step. Convene a conference, put the science of the past forty years on display and let’s get on with the program already.
It’s time for science, common sense and compassion to trump senseless social control.
It’s long past time, in fact.

  52. I served my country for 23 years in the Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons. I also served my country 4 years in the Air Force. As a security specialist, my right arm was ripped out of the socket forcibly backwards behind my head by a gang of over …zealous security specialists until all the ligaments and tendons were ripped apart after I had volunteered to be a mock terrorist in a training exercise. I had 2 major shoulder reconstruction surgeries and now need a third one after my 23 years working in some of the worst prisons in America including a maximum security penitentiary. One can retire after just 20 years in this dangerous job. I had 23 years Federal Law Enforcement plus 4 years military police credit. However, one must be age 50. I was just 48. I filed for workmen’s compensation, the Federal Bureau of Prisons shredded my application, called me in the next morning and removed me from my position after decades of capturing escaped inmates, responding to armed hostage stand-off’s, being assaulted, breaking up fights, helping stop riots, and decades of not knowing if I would be coming home each day. 4 months, prior, they had ordered me to a piss test and said it was random, although, we all know that it wasn’t and it was an illegal search without even reasonable suspicion, just retaliation and discrimination. When I finally got a copy of the lab results many months later, someone at the lab crossed out their earlier results of Negative and changed it to Positive and tried to say it reflected equivalent to one puff of marijuana. I was told I was fired because of this piss test taken 4 months prior and it just happened to be the day following my attempt to file for worker’s compensation. I was scheduled for an Arbitration Hearing to get my job back and thus my retirement. The Union pretended to be representing me but after stalling for 4 months, said they changed their mind, so I’d never get a hearing and time limits for other avenues of redress had all expired. I hired an attorney but the Dep’t. of Justice got to him. He’s been stalling for 2 years now. I lost all my health insurance, so I went to the Veterans Administration due to the chronic pain in my shoulder, need for surgery and stress. They immediately diagnosed me with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and put me on a year long wait for surgeons from the University of Miami to evaluate and perform my shoulder surgery. They prescribed all kinds of Pain Killers, Sleeping Pills, Stress Pills and all kinds of shit. I am still waiting. In the mean time, they denied my disability retirement also, reflecting that I had not applied for workmen’s compensation or reported injuries promptly enough. Their actions remind me of what I have read and heard about Nazi Germany. They control all the information and people to reflect whatever they want to reflect to ruin someone’s career and life’s work. I worked my way through college, graduating with high honors in the field of Criminal Justice, served our country 27 years in the worst and most dangerous of places, was crippled and thrown out without even health insurance, just months before retirement and in dire need of major surgery. I am in constant pain every day, though I hide it well. All this because they allege that I took a puff of marijuana off duty, 4 months following an illegally ordered search of my piss under threat of being fired if I don’t comply, while they falsified affadavits alleging that I admitted it, and changed lab results to reflect it. Furthermore, many inmates have died or been seriously injured due to their negligence. They closed ranks on me and through me out because I started to complain about their abuses. I would have started getting $50,000 per year starting today, for the rest of my life, if not for our Nazi Regime/government.

  53. Yes! it’s wonderful that cannabis is effective [efficacy] in cancer treatment – but – there’s over 250 other conditions that it provides efficacy for – some equally as devastating as cancer. I’ve got diabetes [which is epidemic] and there isn’t a better medication for it than cannabis. I also come [born and raised]from medicine and pharmacy – so – government’s lies do not penetrate the truth of it. I’m quite indifferent to the Justice Department’s, Health and Human Services [FDA], and Big Pharma’s daisy chain. This I know for sure – “There will always be a DEA because of hard drugs.” By the way – alcohol, tobacco, and caffeine are hard drugs compared to the non-addictive, non-toxic cannabis. “It just doesn’t make sense does it?” Maybe 4-20 @ 4:20 will make sense. BE THERE OR BE SQUARE.

  54. Its sad too see such shame the this was removed, the only reason that FDA will not look at this is because they can’t put a patent on a plant there for no money to be made and no control.

  55. If you think about the only reason doctors don’t prescribe cannabinoids for anti-tumor effects is that the prohibitionists have blocked any studies that could have made this part of modern medicine.
Systematically thwarting the advancement of medical science is a crime against humanity.

  56. When you see the truth shrouded in the clouds.. It will take our collective breath to blow those clouds away and expose the govt and pharmecuetical, oil, timber, and cotton partners out into the light>
Shame to all who keep this medicine from sick people.

  57. The truth will set us free. Unfortunately our goverment thinks differently. I believe if we all SPEAK UP we can do something, our forfathers left us the right to speak so lets use it!

  58. Jesus said to do unto others as we would have them to do unto us. None of us would want our child thrown in jail with the sexual predators for using a little marijuana. None of us would want to see our parent’s home confiscated and sold by the police for growing a couple of marijuana plants to ease the aches and pains of growing older. It’s time to stop putting our own families in jail. It’s time to let ordinary Americans grow a little marijuana in their own back yards

  59. Do all the states with medicinal marijuana laws have similar organizations who do indeed display the medical uses? You’ve got to outnumber the Feds in every possible way. Someone really caught hell for putting it up on the national site and got really bitched at.

  60. 90. Galileo Galilei
The reason docotors don’t prescribe cannabis – period – is because they can’t write a script on a schedule I substance – so – they recommend it. The Board of Medical Quality Assurance is their DEA. It’s like the cop’s Internal Affairs. They are all dangerous as hell.

  61. With the Japenese nuclear disaster we NEED marijuana used as medicine now! If there is even the remote possibility that it helps in the fight of cancer or preventing cancer we need to be able to use it without any hinderance whatsover.

  62. I just gotta say that when i joined NORML about a year and a half ago there were only about 150,000 fans now were pushing 300,000!!!!! Keep up the good work and we shall provaile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  63. To be fair, in order to get the anti-tumor effects you would have to consume it in a specific way for it to work, smoking or vaporizing likely would do nothing.

  64. Can you say population control. What does not giving up the truth mean with what’s needed now for humanity’s sake. I 2nd shenannigans.

  65. Soo…if it has shown to reverse cancer in a lab but not humans….and its proven nontoxic with minimal negative effects…why cant i try it if i have a terminal condition?????? It might work and it wont hurt me….hmmm wtf?

  66. Prohibition doesn`t work. Who`s the boss that pays public servants wages? It`s past time to fire those supporting the “War on People”.

  67. Let’s be [as] realistic about this [as] reality can be. Anyone who “prevents the use” of a substance that has efficacy [for any medical condition] is a quote/unquote “criminal.” If we simply “follow the lead” of prohibs, the Justice Dept, and law-enforcement – We the People should indict them for crimes against humanity, bust their asses, and throw their asses in jail with those who have committed a lesser crime. If you try to tell me that there is not one single attorney out there [representing the People of the United States of America] that isn’t as capable as the best that Executive, Legislative or Judicial has to offer – well! – God help us all. Look! if government doesn’t want to listen [pay attention] to us – give me “just one good reason – just one” – why we should listen to them. Even more so – why we should obey their unjust, unconscionable, and corrupt law.
4-20 @ 4:20 will tell the tale. The tail will not wag the dog anymore.

  68. Who are we to ban a PLANT that has been around for at least 500 million years? Why would something that comes from the earth ever be considered evil? Should we ban fruits and vegs next? Kaneh Bos should ban us.

  69. So when do we free thinking Americans TAKE TO THE STREETS like in Egypt and Libya? Seriously, I don’t for one second, think our plight is as bad as Libya’s. I DO think however that we have lost our way as Americans and I also think there are too many sheep (mostly conservatives) running around crying foul at everything they don’t understand and they are the ones who’s interests are served. I for one can’t wait to leave the good’ol United States of Hypocrisy and Lies. Way to go Obama, you spineless pussy.

  71. GENESIS THE FAITH v. PROHIBITIONISTS and their agents.
Fabrication of false information is a felony.
I don’t understand – why – they -“My Evil Brother” – insists on updating us with their bullshit story. If they have evidence in support of their disgraceful behavior – “Lets have it” – otherwise – cease and desist fabricating and disseminating false information. In short – take your little bullshit act down the road. You have yet to meet “My Good Brother” – down the road – and – the Genesist Faith has no boundaries. Maybe you can convince them of your sanity – because – you sure haven’t convinced 3141 Genesist Colonies [united colonies]in the U.S.A [united states}.
All we ask for is the truth put upon the table to be presented to a candid audience – but then – “Oh what tangled webs we weave – when we conspire to deceive.”
EXPOSURE – EXPOSURE – AND – MORE EXPOSURE.

  72. Wow, I hadn’t imagined that my cynicism could be honed to a finer point after the recent sentencing of Molly Fry and her husband, but this does it. It seems to me that we have choices here. We can grumble off into our respective corners to nurture our bad feelings or we can opt to engage the war that’s been successfully foisted upon us for seventy-seven years. I never saw myself as a warrior before, but I do now. My weapon is my pen.
My blog site sports commentary on cannabis news and a link to Norml. Twitter and Facebook pages have other links that tie back to the blog, so I can link posts like this to a wider audience. At first the response was slow, but gradually, it’s picking up.
People will listen if enough of us are willing to speak coherently. It’s scary, but not as much as facing the Karma of doing nothing while people of Molly’s character, and countless others, are being picked off. Try it. You might find yourself oddly empowered.
    in peace, …

  73. Quell surprise!
It looks like someone at the National Cancer Institute got “spanked” for publishing anything pro-cannabis regarding it’s effect on shrinking cancerous tumors. No doubt that either the Obama regime’s White House staff, the DEA, or those Big Pharma companies themselves called the NCI out “on the carpet” for That mistake.
Big Pharma’s share of the anti-cancer regimen that the Medical Industrial Complex promulgates must amount to at least $10 Billion USD per year. Anything published that offers a non-toxic alternative to Big Pharma’s poisonous witches brew of anti-cancer “treatments” must be squashed. How else can Bug Pharma reap the financial benefit of yet another cancer survivor who must remain on a daily prescription or 10 to boost their now-destroyed immune system?
I am sick and tired of being sick and tired, thanks to USA medical care that I cannot afford, and Big Pharma’s patent prescription “medications” that I can neither afford nor dare risk my current poor health with their deadly concoctions. Their “black label” warnings should be enough to scare just about any thinking person away from their “snake oil” poisons.
The Federal government, in close collusion with crony corporate special interests, are busy killing off a significant portion of the American people, all in the name of bigger and better private profits. Those citizens that they are not killing outright, they are stripping of all financial resources in a mostly vain effort at maintaining good health. It’s difficult to attribute the Federal government’s role in the persecution and suppression of medical marijuana as anything other than an overt conscious effort to kill off a large segment of their “constituents”.
It’s not as if such a mentality hasn’t emerged repeatedly in the past — forced sterilization of “undesirables”, covert testing of deadly diseases on unsuspecting patients, psychiatrists involved in forced lobotomies, uninformed trials of psychedelic drugs, and deeply involved in war crimes like torture. Both NeoCon and NeoLiberal politicians are busy targeting senior citizens for their “death panels” — by slashing Medicare and Social Security instead of the Military Industrial Complex’s $1.4 Trillion USD per year expenditure. Just as both groups of politicians are busy targeting the unemployed by slashing the social safety net — tax cuts for businesses and the top 2% of filthy rich have to come from somewhere.
Entire new industries, with 100,000’s of new jobs, could be created by “our” politicians by simply re-legalizing both cannabis and hemp (legal like beer or wine, or even better legal like tomatoes). These are new “green” industries that could pull themselves up by the bootstraps, without the need for Federal government largesse in the form of tax incentives or taxpayer-funded grants. Something a significant portion of “our” crony corporate special interests cannot claim to this day.
Follow the money! “Our” politicians don’t work for We the People, they work for their own private financial interests, including fat checks for re-election campaigns. Let’s throw them all out of office, every last corporate shill among them.

  74. many martyrs for the sake of science – just ask copernicus, but science will always win. what arrogance we must endure as we are persecuted for the truth by those who count their own erroneous opinions as infallible. how painful to relinquish our basic human rights to people so freaking stupid. i am so sick of this brainless walmart culture – from “Jersey Shore” to cannabis prohibition – God save us!

  75. The thing is, a few of us who read this stuff will know the truth but the vast majority have never heard of the real medical properties of an illegal plant. Most just dismiss it out of hand and go on with their lives. The propaganda has been around for too long. The average person just won’t accept the magnitude of how much we have been deceived in so many areas of everyday life.

  76. I’m curious to see what’s gonna happen when the government is predominantly made up of those of us who have grown up with the internet and already understand that a 12 year old can verify your statements with the web browser on their phone before you even finish making them. Soon there will no longer be any politicians who believe that their constituents will blindly believe every word they say and not try to verify their credibility. There will soon be no more politicians that still think they can get away with lying through their teeth in the age of information and transparency.

  77. This goverment needs ” lab rats” to study the effects on cannabis.I am sure there would be alot of people volunteer for this. But, no this goverment is afraid that this just might be a good thing for people. Every one of these politicians, are afraid to say anything ,because they will be soft on drugs, what a joke they are. They want their money to keep flowing and cannabis is the one, that makes the most money!!! Greedy ,Greedy, Greedy politicians, shame on you saying cannabis can’t help cancer . I guess we have to wait till all the politicians die, that was in office in the 1930’s. Then, maybe we will be free to choice!

  78. The fda is only good for one thing, and that is for kissing my ass hard enough to leave welts and they probably can’ get that right either.

  79. 128. Jeanne
This government needs non-prohib politicos, – because – the prohibs that are in power now are lab rats. No offense to lab rats.

  80. I was recently approached by the American Cancer Society asking if I would share my survivorship story in a natioal campaign. Amazing, Incradible, Unbelievable, and even Lucky are all words attached to my file. Unfortunately, the most important word is still being left off. PROOF! I am proof of the direct anti-cancer properties of cannabinoids.
Traditional chemotherapy medicines destroy both healthy and mutated cells. It’s the killing of healthy cells that causes the side effects associated with chemotherapy. The research on cannabinoids being published in the UK gives hope for the future. Tumor specefic medicines with out the hairloss, nausea, vomiting, body aches, tingling in the hands and feet, loss of finger and toe nails, and other painfull, unpleasent side effects are in the very near future.
Many will argue the best cancer hospital in the world is in the USA. Why is it the best cancer hospital in the world is unable to apply the latest research on cannabinoids to their studies? The ACS, NCI, and other national cancer websites, recognize the medicinal properties of cannabis for relieving the side effects brought on by current cancer treatments. The best cancer hospital in the world can not even offer this suggestion to their patients. How is it the best cancer hospital in the world is in a non-medicinal state? Wake up America!! If it were your loved one going through treatment wouldn’t you want not only the best doctors but the best current and future medicines too?
No, American Cancer Society, I will not let you twist my story to suit your needs. When you agree to tell the truth about my success, I will send you as many happy, smiling, bald pictures as you would like!
    Cancer survivor/ Cannabis smoker #8675309

  81. #131, To Squeeky; Thank you for sharing your story and having the courage to speak out in support for cannabis for medical purposes.

  82. They don’t control nothing they are just puppets they want us sick so we have to buy there so-called medicine. the drug companies have them by the balls so they can go to their offices and snort their free donations from the ones they protect.

  83. 133 Marine rebel leader
They believe that that control “everything” – but – they don’t control me – and – they never will. Semper Fi!

  84. The noid is complex and enhancing not on our side. The noid is into destroying the right to stay hired in this country. Defacto decriminalizing marijuana in large amounts outside or inside in this country is still the better way it must be based on a non democrat win election but, would not have enough support withhout democratic charity back then to ever turn in to something worthwhile. This is the dirty dirty we won’t medicalize it and have it for us the right way in our lifetimes. Antifederalizt laws in Vermont could not have a marijuuna bust without a breaking and entering violation at one time as long as if it would had stayed that way now I no longer know why growing up to twenty plants inside is a misdemeanor or higher any more. FLIR can see in but, they don’t catch the dirty rotten haters. Joseph why are’nt you running as an anti federalist Republican Governors right to call back the North American Hunters Union non lobbyist?

  85. The problem with GOP meeting attenders like me is that Republican politicians such as Joseph talk from the private old school was how you were suppose to tell me where you were going and now you make me know only friendly old ladies and are’nt a fellow that will talk across the state line.

  86. Read farther in to the page. They scrubbed it clean on the first couple of sections, but if you read the whole thing, the anti-tumor effects of THC are still discussed in great detail. Yes, the truth has been buried, but it cannot be erased.

  87. I can’t believe a science-based health organization would fold under political pressure like they did. The NCI should stand behind their research. It could save lives, or at least ease the pain of those at the end of life.

  88. Marijuana is the prohibited drug in our society and most commonly used in many developed countries. Medical studies have shown that the active ingredient in marijuana delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) can bring health benefits to some patients. The impression that these benefits were significant, voters in California, Arizona and other 13 states approved initiative allowing the use of medical marijuana for patients in certain conditions.

  89. Stephen said something about government working hard to keep the cures for cancer outlawed. They’ve already done it. Apricot pits were used to assist in preventing and possible cure for cancer. The Gov.’t worked hard to bash that abolish. Bitter almonds is the same, but Gov.’t outlawed those in 95. Gov.’t is also trying to pass FDA laws that will make it impossible for health companies to make/distribute their products–homeopathy has cures/treatments for many diseases. My 18y/o son would have DIED of heartdisease Prednisone caused if it weren’t for homeopathy. In two years what worked for him you may not be able to get!! SCARY…

  90. ill never trust the gov agen .lies its SCARY… who do you trust now that our government is lying to us is this all they lie a bought to us is it . youll never know will u suckers we are ginypigs for the government whats enxt??????????????
