The consumption of legal hemp seed nutritional oil, in conjunction with the intake of evening primrose oils and a restricted diet high in Hot-natured foods (such as pepper) and low in saturated fats and sugars, is associated with “significant improvement” in symptom management and immunological characteristics in subjects with multiple sclerosis, according to clinical trial data published this month in the scientific journal BioImpacts.
Researchers at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences in Iran assessed the impact of hemp seed oil, evening primrose oils, and a restricted diet for a period of six months in 23 patients diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS. Researchers reported that participants at the study’s completion “were healthier in comparison to baseline,” concluding that “clinical and immunological parameters showed improvement in the patients after the intervention.” They noted that hemp seed oil possesses potent antioxidative properties and also likely acts on specific signaling pathways that regulate inflammatory responses — two characteristics that would presumably make it beneficial in the treatment of MS.
Authors concluded: “After 6 months, significant improvements in extended disability status score were found. … [O]ur study demonstrates for the first time in the literature a decrease in both clinical and pro- inflammatory disease activity in MS patients during periods of dietary intervention. Our data demonstrated that co-supplemented hemp seed and evening primrose oils with Hot-natured diet intervention may decrease the risk of developing MS.”
Previously published clinical trials assessing the impact of inhaled cannabis and extracted organic cannabinoids in patients with MS have demonstrated that plant cannabinoids can alleviate disease symptoms — such as involuntary spasticity, neuropathy, and bladder dysfunction — and, in some subjects, may actually moderate disease progression. Nonetheless, the National MS Society shares little enthusiasm for cannabis or cannabis-derived products as a therapeutic option for MS patients, stating on its website: “[B]ased on the studies to date β and the fact that long-term use of marijuana may be associated with significant, serious side effects β it is the opinion of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Medical Advisory Board that there are currently insufficient data to recommend marijuana or its derivatives as a treatment for MS symptoms.”
A tablespoon of hemp seed oil a day keeps the doctor away. The price has come down over the past several years as Canada and other countries continue to expand hemp production. It will really drop when we can once more farm hemp in the USA.
We learn something new everyday about this wonderful plant. Why is it so hard for the prohibs to see this? I would imagine because of all the money they make ruining the lives of sick and healthy people alike. How do they sleep at night doing what they do?
You know, it’s too bad the U.S. can’t put the full might of its medical research potential behind cannabis. Everybody’s bitching about the cost of health care going up and up. Well, if you actually found cures and better treatment, then you wouldn’t be making less year over year even though you got a pay rise but are shelling out more and more to pay your health insurance premiums.
So this study was conducted in Iran. What’s next, North Korea makes the next medical breakthrough on cannabis research. I mean, what the fuck!
I looked into how they view the sacred herb in Iran, and got this on e-stoned.com.

It is not hard for the “prohibs” to see this. They know damn well the Tree of Life is the savior of the planet.
It comes down to greed. Too bad YOU cannot see that… The prohibitionists know the facts and they also know exactly what they are doing…
What epic tragic irony we weave in this American Tragedy of Failed Drug Policy and Prohibition.
I don’t know what shocks me more;
That hemp oil could have such positive medicinal effects on such a destructive disorder as multiple sclerosis, the likes of which many of us had never imagined;
Or that our political enemies in Iran had to develop the research first because our drug policies in the U.S. are so backwards we have the DEA funding to oppose medicinal research of cannabis for the last 30 years.
The irony is more than an American tragedy; Pro-cannabis protagonists in Universities across the world are all involved in this new race to discover and patent medicinal hemp and marijuana. It was the University of Meir in Israel that discovered cannabis could treat Chrone’s Disease which affects the Jewish community diproportionately. It’s no wonder Iran would pick up the research when our ability to research cannabis in the U.S. remains a system of dictatorship within a repressed Democracy. Think Iran is making a statement? You bet.
And the antagonists, our infamous DEA operating under the C.S.Act, have only to watch their power succumb to their own arrogance and hubris. Through the fault of our own made-to-fail drug policies the U.S. is lagging far behind in what can only be desribed as a world-wide Golden Age of Cannabis discovery.
I hate to say it, but I have to applaud the scientific communinty of Iran for discovering not only a new use for medicinal cannabis, but a healthy method of competition between the U.S./Israel and Iran. We can enhance our strengths in scientific competition since after all, these studies are published publically for the benefit of all the world’s medically ill as well as all medical societies. The trophy is merely the bragging rights of who discovers it first. (Which among scientific institutions, doctors and Universities is a really big deal).
The ball is in your court Senators. Is the U.S. going to deteriorate like multiple sclerosis in the giant wheel chair called the Controlled Substances Act? Or will we take some of our own medicine and join the productive, lucrative Golden Age of Cannabis society the rest of the world has already embraced to enlightenment?
Vote now. Clearly the American people will vote pro-cannabis in 2014 and 2016.
I’ve had RR multiple sclerosis for 12 years and am praying that the day is soon that my country will embrace the use of medicinal marijuana.
Dear MS Society, I am appalled. -suffering in silence and ignorance.
What appalls you? Is it the use of the substance or the lack of research?
What happened too?
“The right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness SHALL NOT be infringed upon”
at least until we declare war on an inanimate object. ie drug war
Their was a time when we were at the top and other countries looked up to us. Now we are a country in debt but have people rediculously rich stealing from the little people .its all about the mighty dollar they can charge ,and make millions from all the chemicals in drugs that we are now behind countries like iran in allowing a plant that grows in the ground to make medicines which can make life so much easier for so many people.I also have relapsing remitting m.s.and I say shame on all of you .Until people in congress also have the diseases we do it may never change, never thought I would say it but maybe the nuclear war heads in Iran is not what we need to worry about maybe we have to worry about our own people!
Research has proven that both Marijuana and Hemp have medical use. Hemp appears to have a higher concentration of CBD’s which seem to have more therapeutic influence, than THC, the psycoactive ingredient. Many people I have interviewed told me they would like to explore the therapeutic properties of both Marijuana and Hemp but, are concerned with the side effect of being high. I for one see Hemp as an altenative to Marijuanan specifically for that reason.
Marijuana is Hemp, which is the true name. The differences come from the varieties, Satina, which is higher in THC and Indica, which is, typically, high in CBD. They both contain Both and all cannabanols.
A study from Iran..? Okay, I guess.
The feds have agreed upon medicinal benefits of cannabis, only if your malady is terminal and your usage is done without published results, and you die quickly. Otherwise your consumption of cannabis is producing a criminal of such notorious consequences that life sentences and even death are handed out by global courts to eradicate the blight. In 1980 the mental healthcare professionals in the United States had available to them more than 50 thousand hospital beds for their patients care. Today that number is under 5 thousand. As gun prohibitionists search for their bandaid answer to dying students and innocents, the prisons continue their expansionistic development while the hospitals and schools close their doors. The information is available to those not suffering from law enforcement blinders that have allowed for theft and extortion by an agency that is supposed to protect and serve without a constitutionally guaranteed due process.
Who supports the National MS Society? Maybe big Pharma or the federal government, or the people out there that give them their hard earned money in hope that they are trying to find a cure or at least some relief to all the pain. Wake up and realize that their is relief out there and it it called hemp oil. Oh, but wait a minute. Hemp grow to fast, thus we could help so many more people in a shorter amount of time and the government could’t make gross amounts of money.
Any way to buy cannabis oil or hemp oil for treatment of MS
