As Joe Cocker famously pleaded in 1969 at Woodstock, “Let’s go get stoned.”
Happy 4/20 to marijuana smokers throughout the land. Today is our annual holiday, an occasion to celebrate all things related to marijuana and marijuana smoking.
I am delighted to be spending my day at the High Times Denver Cannabis Cup, the largest of all the cannabis celebrations each April 20th, where NORML has a booth each year, and where we have the opportunity to meet and greet thousands of other marijuana aficionados. If you are in Denver, please do stop by our booth today and introduce yourself.
Legalizing marijuana is serious business, and it requires the cumulative, ongoing effort of thousands of hard-working, committed citizen-activists to end prohibition and change state and federal policies that have been in place for more than 75 years. More than 700,000 Americans continue to be arrested each year on marijuana charges, needlessly damaging the lives and careers of these otherwise law-abiding citizens who prefer to smoke marijuana when they relax in the evening, just as millions of other Americans enjoy a beer or a glass of wine when they relax. And certainly the need to stop arresting responsible marijuana smokers must remain our top priority.
Congratulations everyone! It’s 4/20! I guess everyone who isn’t poor can feel good whenever they want to. While pieces of crap with no money and mental problems like me can imagine what it must be like to get what we want and watch other greedy pieces of shit have what they want and act better than me and people like me. So I can hate God for giving unto others and giving me problems instead of good stuff. I didn’t get any money from an inheritance from mommy or daddy and am morbidly depressed so didn’t feel like trying in school and didn’t do well. So go ahead, smoke weed all week, why don’t you!? Smoke until you have a tolerance! You obviously deserve it cause you didn’t/don’t have half the problems I do. Nobody cares, nobody’s gonna do anything about it. But just shit on me if it makes someone as valuable as you feel better. Give daddy a call, ask him to buy you a Mustang or speedy motorcycle just so you can rev in my face when something bad happens to me. Don’t join the dark side while high or you may have a bit of a terrifying trip. Don’t help others. Just worry about yourself because you are seriously just that important. I’ll hang onto the belief that MJ will become legal in the whole country and when it does, I’ll have $65 for a gram of heads. But seriously, enjoy your high. Don’t start your own Manson Family, though. Enjoy it while you can like me, before God starts testing you like Job. The point of this is to help the poor, tax the rich, and generally do unto others as you would have done unto yourself. Greed is the root of all evil. Happy 4/20 BUDS! If you don’t post this comment, I understand you don’t want your high blown, but maybe learn from it. May God have mercy unto me some day, somehow, some way…
HAPPY 420 everyone!
Regarding “legalizing” it, couldn’t have said it better myself, as stated in your above article…
thanks for doing what you do
Right On Keith!!! Salute!
Right now I’m feeling proud to be a cannabis user. This is because I am not one of the people gullible enough to have been misled by the govt lies all these years. I’m not one of he people who choose to discriminate against those that choose a different vice than I have chosen (if you want to call cannabis a vice…). I am proud to be a freedom loving American; unlike so many of our powerful elected leaders.
I celebrated by fixing my pot dealers car. Pay it forward America. There are healthier, happier and greener things to trade than cold U.S. Currency!
WELL KEITH WE HAVE COME ALONG WAY //ITS A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE ALL THESE PEOPLE GET SMART AND COMPLETELY LEGALIZE/// AND REALIZE THAT CANNABIS IS REALLY A MEDICINE, AND STOP ARRESTING PEOPLE AND RUINING THEIR LIVES ..ITS A SHAME WITH ALL THE CORRUPTION IN OUR COUNTRY ALL THE REPS IN GOV. ARE PAID HEAVY TO RUN THE PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT NATION THE WAY THEY SEE FIT …ITS TIME THAT WE THE PEOPLE GET RID OF ANY POLITICIANS THAT WORK FOR BIG PHARMA TABBACO IND. AND ALCOHOL ETC. THE POLITICIANS NEED TO LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE WE ARE THE ONES THEY WORK FOR ..IT WOULD BE NICE IF WE COULD HIRE AND FIRE WHO WE WANT IN OFFICE …GOV POSITIONS NEED TO ONLY BE ALLOWED 4 YRS IN OFFICE ..SOME HOW WE THE PEOPLE WILL HAVE OUR COUNTRY BACK AGAIN SOON ..GOD BLESS AMERICA AND GOD BLESS 420
I just watched Sanjay Gupta’s Weed 3 on CNN. Thank the Gods he has started doing the real research instead of trusting our Fed Govt regarding marijuana!!! Considering he was President Obama’s first choice to be the new
Surgeon General, one can only hope that nearly brain dead politicians that have been so anti-marijuana for any purpose will finally start listening to voices other than their own.
I have been thinking a lot about being a proud pothead! I could create a really long list if I tried listing all the reasons many of us have to feel proud. Here are just a few:
1) I don’t vote for someone because I like the sound of their name or because I’ve heard of them before or because they represent a particular party. I do my research and then vote accordingly.
2) I would never in a million years vote for someone like Jeb Bush or Chris Christie. I can barely help feeling vastly superior to anyone who would waste their vote on either of those clowns.
3) Although I am 60 years old, I am in excellent physical and mental condition in spite of using cannabis/marijuana for the last 45 years.
4) I served in the USMC and used marijuana while I was in. In fact, it is where I really got my start. Although I had used it, maybe 10 times from age 15 through 18, it was while I was in the marines I really got into it; as did the vast majority of us. It’s ironic we were serving the will of a govt that would have had us imprisoned…
Enough for now – reasons enough to feel proud.
Thanks Julian.@ It doesn’t mater; my heart is with you sir,I’ve often wrote here about snit faced rude anti-marijuana people, keep you head up, lol one of my relatives is married to a policeman, she hates marijuana. She manages two apartment complexes, and seems to think that the ground trembles when she walks. I guess it does because of how much overweight she is getting from siting on her fat but all day!

You can die for freedom, you just can’t exercise it?
@Eric K. Johnson – “can’t exercise it”
That seems to be true. Ultimately it is an indictment of America’s totally failed policies. Unfortunately, most congressmen and senators seem to be okay with it as long as they get their bribes from big pharma, big prison, drug testing, and etc.
I honestly believe that the founders of our country would be very angry to see what todays leaders have turned this country into. I find myself comparing America with George Orwell’s “1984”.
…all I have to say is this : The illegality of cannabis is an outrageous violation of human rights that no one should accept.
“We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men” – George Orwell
America needs cannabis. The reasons are too numerous to state here, but tolerance and mutual respect will educate and lead to a peaceful and productive future.
