WHO Report: No Public Health Problems Attributable To CBD

oil_bottlesThe use of the naturally occurring cannabinoid CBD is safe, well tolerated, and is not associated with any significant adverse public health effects, according to the findings of a preliminary report compiled by the World Health Organization’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence.

Authors of the report declare that CBD is “not associated with abuse potential” and that it does not induce physical dependence. “CBD is generally well tolerated with a good safety profile,” they conclude.

Nonetheless, they acknowledge that CBD remains classified as a schedule I controlled substance under US federal law – a classification that defines it as possessing a “high potential for abuse.”

The WHO report also comments on CBD’s therapeutic efficacy, finding that the substance has “been demonstrated as an effective treatment for epilepsy,” and that there exists “preliminary evidence that CBD may be a useful treatment for a number of other medical conditions,” including Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, and psychosis.

While authors acknowledge that the “unsanctioned medical use of CBD” oils and extracts is relatively common, they affirm, “[T]here is no evidence of recreational use of CBD or any public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD.”

The World Health Organization is in the process of considering whether to place CBD within the agency’s international drug scheduling code. In September, NORML submitted written testimony to the US Food and Drug Administration in opposition to the enactment of new international restrictions regarding CBD access. The FDA is one of a number of agencies advising WHO in their final review.

  1. This opinion from the WHO is surprising for it’s lack of reefer-madness propaganda, and it is good news for legalizers. But this doesn’t sound like the WHO report for which the FDA was hoping.

Despite the World Health Organization publicly clearing the “good name” of CBD in terms of medical efficacy and safety, the FDA obviosly still wants to criminalize CBD specifically; the FDA wants more War On Drugs, and by god, it wants CBD, too! Why? Because Big Pharma is pulling their strings.

Will the FDA simply ignore the WHO opinion, and attempt to officially criminalize CBD anyway? With that freakazoid Russian Trumpanzee shitting in the Oval Office (no, that’s not a typo), you can bet your ass on it.

  2. One has to wonder how many people get health problems while serving time in jail or prison for using/possessing cannabis.

Oh… The idiocy of it all… I’m looking at you Jeffrey Sessions!

  3. Defying the medical efficacy of whole plant cannabis synergy the World Hypocrite Organization once again chooses to poison humanity with the lie that “pure” synthetic molecules are medicine.

    Hmm… Let’s analyze this…

    (Taking a long toke… thinking… exhaling…)

…Nope. The WHO are still predatory liars for Big Pharma. And whole plant marijuana is still effective medicine …while synthetic molecules continue to cause dangerous side effects.

Whew! Good thing I’ve got some good weed to keep seeing through THAT bull$#!+.

Paul’s reporting brings up an important question about the World Hypocrites though; are they getting paid more by GW Pharma to patent CBD than the Sacklers can afford to prohibit?

  4. How is CBD a schedule 1 drug when it is readily and legally available to be shipped to all 50 states? Does the WHO even understand the law? This is such a circus.

    1. A twisted, demonic circus of deceit for profit, where the clowns close the doors, turn into vampires and suck the blood out of their victims, but yes, CBD legalization is a circus alright.

The DEA placed CBD into schedule 1 along with kratom in The beginning of this year. Y’know, because anything that treats opioid addiction is a threat to the Sackler-States of American security.

At the same time, whole plant hemp foods won lawsuits more than a decade ago to distribute hemp products if they are imported. Plus there was another lawsuit protecting imported hemp seeds under the 2014 Farm Bill hemp amendment. If you’re confused, that’s only a natural reaction to a taste of the fu€ked up laws we have concerning CBD.

CBD is designed by nature to work in unison with THC synergistically through whole plant cannabis consumption. (Just in different doses and ratios for different strains and symptoms). This bull$#!+ trying to force us to take mislabeled, synthetic “pure” CBD is pathetic and parasitic and it has to stop.

Funny thing is, no one is buying any of this synthetic crap after trying it once, whether it’s marinol for THC or mislabeled CBD oil. We go RIGHT back to weed! Time and Earth is on our side.

  7. I think it’s crazy that pot it’s self is not legal. If it was there would not be shootings over it. I never wanted to drive or rob a bank when I was high. I wanted salty chips and chocolate and then a nap. Come on people,I can’t smoke a joint but they give me a 180 ten milligrams of Percocets a month.

  8. I never wanted to drive or steal when I was high. I just wanted salty chips and chocolate then a nap. But beer is legal. There would be less deaths over pot between gangs. I can’t smoke a joint and then the give me 180 ten milligrams Percocets a month. I could overdose easily. Don’t think I heard of anyone overdoseing on pot
