What I Learned From My Summer With NORML

NORML Summer ‘26 Intern Ben Bailey

My summer internship with NORML deepened my understanding of marijuana policy and the ever-changing legal framework surrounding cannabis.

I enjoyed a number of valuable and memorable experiences during my internship. I was able to intern on Capitol Hill and experience firsthand the work of NORML’s political director, Morgan Fox. Additionally, I attended the Virginia Cannabis Summit alongside NORML’s development director, JM Pedini

I heard from leading cannabis policy experts and I connected with marijuana business professionals. I took something away from every conversation and experience I had.

I also wrote a policy piece on Georgia’s medical cannabis laws, which was published on the NORML website. It was truly a full circle moment for me to follow the legislation first hand working at the Georgia capitol, then have an analytical piece of the same legislation published by the leading marijuana advocacy group.

The niche yet important nature of NORML’s work will only serve to prepare me for my future legal career. For those passionate about public policy or looking to pursue a career in the cannabis space, I would highly recommend interning at NORML. The experience will provide you with the skills, knowledge, and connections needed to build a successful future career.
