“More than half of the US population now resides in jurisdictions where marijuana sales are legal and regulated.”
It’s been approximately one month since President Trump announced that the administration is “looking into” federally reclassifying cannabis and that it would “make a determination over the next few weeks.”
The ordinance, which took immediate effect, amends county code so that the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana is reduced to a civil violation punishable by no more than a $150 fine.
“Our results indicate that older adults who reported using cannabis in the prior six months did not differ on neuropsychological testing results when compared to older adults who reported no recent use of cannabis.”
“The lesson is clear: Placing marijuana products behind the counter keeps cannabis out of the hands of young people and it reduces the public’s appetite for these unregulated novel intoxicants.”
The passage of the new rules mark the latest effort by regulators to undermine the state’s 2024 voter-approved medical cannabis access law, which Nebraskans supported by a margin of more than 2 to 1.
“The electorate is clearly ready for cannabis to be legalized for adult use.”
“This legislation embodies the wishes of more than two thirds of the American public, and will create a federal cannabis framework that respects states’ rights and is focused on science, pragmatism, and justice.”
