Yesterday’s testimony by supporters and foes of Assembly Bill 390, an act to tax and regulate marijuana in California, is now posted on the web at the following URLs:

Retired Orange County Superior Court Judge James P. Gray’s testimony was one of the last to be heard, and to use a World Series metaphor, we couldn’t have asked for a better “clean up” hitter:

Awesome.
I sure hope it will be legalized.
Im from Denmark, but still. I might visit you some time 🙂
they should be talking to obama and do it for every state… just get it over with im tired of wasting my life waiting!!!
I must admit, that guy had some really good points.
at the end he just shot down everything prohabitionists say about legalization harming children. this is indeed a perfect note to end on.
Perfect speech
We need to get the good Judge here in a discussion style open debate on this with anyone in favor of Cannibus Prohibition especially the Governor of California.
Also why isnt the Gov. behind this bill. After all he considers it ok for him to smoke Cannibus but not his constituents??????????
Heres it is straight from Arnolds mouth…..again
The videos aren’t playin…I hope its cause so many people are watchin em!!
videos take forever to load.
BRAVO Judge Gray!!! You’re my hero!!!! As is Tom and everyone else supporting policy based on FACTS, LOGIC and SENSE.
Can anyone find another link for me, it doesnt seem to load very well from this website. Thanks
now this is a smart judge, he has his facts together and excelled at delivering the message that prohibition does not and will never work.
yuh thats all got say
This is great!! If California legalizes it’s only a matter of time (hopefully a short one) before the other 49 states follow in Cali’s foot steps.
Wow. All i gotta say is nice. For so very long ive actually doubted cannibis prohibition would actually be repealed
Further i thought it would take violence and bloodshed to change anything. And tho i was aware of NORMLs exsistence as far back as the late 90s i always thought them as a time waste. But since ive been following norml and viewing other peoples comments and finally hearing the words of the Sativa Soldiers above over the last year, ive been educated to the fact that changing things using reason and inteligence and eloquence is not only going change things its gona happen relatively soon. We have fought to banish inequity and ingnorance and we will win.
[Paul Armentano reponds: Thank you for your post and for your change in sentiment regarding NORML and our work. I believe that there are, unfortunately, many would-be reformers who view NORML from afar, rather than becoming involved and invested in the real changes we are making. Thank you for spreading the word.]
This is great. Hopefully the facts and logic spread like a virus.
I really don’t understand any of this messed up “war on drugs”, our government loves control of our lives in all forms. It loves to control and tax your life in so many ways. Why then does it allow criminal organizations such as drug cartels to do it jobs? Wake up politicans, the millions you want to stop from somking weed, have been, already, and will smoke weed. You are simply denying yourself tons of tax money and control of people’s lives, which everyone knows that you love!!
A truly outstanding finisher for our side. Now we wait for the next session and we find out if any seeds are sprouting.
The time seems to drag so slowly when you know in your heart that this situation should never have happened in the first place.
Should the assembly pass the bill, and when Arnie signs it,where are all the wagon trains that will be headed for the green triangle going to land? I know people here in Texas trying to sell their homes so they can move out there when legalization or decriminalization occurs. And I am sure that there are many with the same intent but a lot simpler move for them too make.
It will be one of the largest movements of people since the gold rush too the same region.
California needs to start hosting their videos on a better server. Geez. How bout they legalize weed and buy a better server for their freaking videos?
#6 I think Arnold is not behind the bill for the same reason many politicians do not support legalization and its because its a taboo issue and view it as possibly the end of their political legacy and/or career.
It was the shit Normal, just think of all the pple to migrate there and take care of ALL their IOU’S if so id say next yr this time CALI OUT OF DEBT an no more IOU’S actually this whole country but if they wanna take it a state at a time an my state dont wanna do n e thing i’ll migrate for DAMN sure.
truth!
SO when will the uk take infuluence!! 🙁 x
ok so this sounds good on paper but hold on a sec
these bills can get you cough up in some stinky mess
right now i can possess 8oz but i think this bill if i understood it right i can only have 1 oz at a time
and not too sure how that is going to affect things if i was growing my meds the regulation of marijuana like alcohol means you must be a big business to pay huge licensing cost to manufacture anything keep an open eye on these people there is always something in it for them..
[Paul Armentano responds: AB 390 has a clause that specifies that it does not alter any existing medical marijuana legislation.]
videos arent loading, please set up mirrors
thank you
way to go gray ! well said… way to go cali !
keep fighting!
This video was absolutely superb, summarizing everything that I wish I could articulate to people that support prohibition based on zero scientific evidence. Children have long been exploited in the name of prohibition, and it’s incredibly relieving to see someone step up to the plate and knock the issue out of the park! Hopefully that will help stop the stupid propaganda that insinuates that all marijuana users are lazy and worthless (I think Phelps helped overcome that stereotype!).
Can’t get part three to play at all. When will the full text be out to read?
Dear , # 4 James T . ,
You work for a Drug store , Pfizner , deliver beer or wine , sell tobacco , are a bartender , work where alcoholic beverages are served or are just plain stupid .
Your Alcohol & Drugs you take & see advertised everywhere sends the wrong message to kids . Maybe if you’d quit these drugs you’d see a little clearer .
How much did Pfizner pay you to say this ?
Ok , Ok…………good point .
Let’s also start saying it’s harming children when we got TV and Radio stations across the World pushing beer , wine , tobacco , prescription medications doing more harm to Children than all hard drugs combined . I don’t want children seeing anything to do with marijuana but , let’s stop pushing these legal drugs on Children too . It seems to be just fine to see bottles of booze or legal pills plastered all over billboards across the Nation . Let’s stop pushing these drugs on Children , too .
James T – I am a little confused about your comment . After i saw the video your comment made a little more sense . Yes it can be harming our Children and anything that protects kids from using any kind of drugs ( including marijuana ) i am
for . I thought you were singling out on just marijuana when we got far worse drugs on the market today that nobody mentions . See above post # 30 for
clarification ..
Hope that clears things up .
look, Obama is not for the legalization of Cannabis but Ron Paul is. Now, If California starts the train for the legalization, then states will follow. People need to get out and hold public meetings or something. Now its just a matter of time, it’s like this: 1.Decrimalize 2. Medical Value 3. Personal Use. The steps are like that. Get one at a time.
Smoke Weed everyday!
Dear #29,
Are you high? I think you are. He’s in support of the judge….
Chill out psycho
Dear #29,
Idiot.
Here is what I have not seen yet and wish to see. I see a lot of debates on here, a lot of talk, a lot of rallies ect… But they all seem to be folks in support of legalizing talking to people who are in support of legalizing. Where are all of the talks happening that are actually changing people’s minds? We need to discuss this with folks that are not in support of legalizing.
Don’t get me wrong, I am glad the talks are happening. I’m just worried that they aren’t doing as much good as we think they are.
[Paul Armentano responds: Public support for marijuana law reform has spiked from roughly 1 out of 3 nationally 2-3 years ago to 1 out of 2 today, with majority support on the west coast. Nevertheless, politically support at the state and particularly federal level for marijuana regulation remains virtually nonexistent. See http://www.alternet.org/rights/143578. Politicians, not the public, are the ones that need persuading, which is why these recent hearings and others are so significant.]
I say legalize it.
Stuff like this really makes me believe I’ll see full legalization in my lifetime.
# 33 & 34
Your right . I was wrong . I wasn’t thinking .
I jumped the gun too fast . I should of seen the video first before i started texting away or should i say .. …..before i opened my BIG FAT MOUTH ….
The judge’s testimony was great.
Quit hogging all the bandwidth so I can watch it!!! LOL
links aren’t working? too much traffic i hope.
simply awesome man! props judge gray you are a hero to me and many others like me who innocently smoke a plant with so many great uses & possibilitys
legalize or die…
James sounded pretty nervous, I hope that just means he was sincere and he wanted to make an impression.
Thank you for posting these, was worried I wasn’t going to get to watch them.
2009 really has been the year for Marijuana. I’ve seen more positive coverage throughout this year then I think I’ve seen in my entire life. Though I have doubts of a national legalization any time soon, I feel we are at the tipping point where something MUST be done. If CA successfully passes this, and makes it work, I think it start to spread like wildfire.
Anyone catch the little comment by Steven Colbert saying that we can’t put gitmo prisoners in our prisons bc we have to save room for black guys caught with joints? Clever.Legislation efforts should appeal to networks such as comedy central. I know that would be ‘preaching to the choir’ but perhaps it can be way to atract attention from other media outlets who pay attention to humor news such as ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Report.’
John Stewart shredded FOX News last night. lulz.
wow i think norml might need to offer the judge a payed position
Wow. That was the perfect speech to end with. I have never respected a judge as much as I do right now. PASS THE BILL, CALI!
Why are they using guesstamate figures from tobacco and alchahol? to baise studies on,when we have Holland’s recent history to base our stats on seems more accurate then a guess…
Yes, i’m sure the police will want to see marijuana legalized. Whatever will these people do when they do not or can not arrest innocent people whos only crime is using this substance. Legalizing marijuana is bad public policy? Prohibition is bad PUBLIC POLICY! Case in point: It’s bad public policy to bail out wall street banks and drive this country into debt. Its bad public policy to reduce the liberties of individual citizens and lock up and waste taxpayer money on enforcement of these LAWS! Its bad public policy to enable the creation of a massive black market where the product “MARIJUANA” sells at massively inflated prices. Income from marijuana is the #1 driving force that funds the drug cartels. It’s bad public policy to have drug stores on the corner of every street that sell oxycontin and drugs that do KILL people called ALCOHOL and Tobacco.
I find it amazing that they use the term “DRUG DRIVING”, a play on drunk driving… Guess what? yes these people had marijuana in their system but what other drug did they have in their system? legal drugs like alcohol and prescription pain killers.
The Honorable Judge Gray makes some very reasonable statements and actually tells it like it is! You are the man sir.
Bravo!! That cut right to the bear bones of it all. Couldnt have said it better.
Its going to happen people, sooner than later I think.
Correction below. Fingers not as fast as mind.

when i Heard the judge start talking about the children i though “Oh god not ANOTHER one of those.” but then he said he was concerned about what ACTUALLY happens (kids selling pot for criminals) instead of this “protect them from pot” propaganda. finally, someone who actually realizes that more harm is being done to kids NOW than if the stuff were legal.
#29-31
You incoherently attack someone on a position they haven’t even taken and you have to throw shit out there like “How much did Pfizner pay you to say this?” Not everyone that disagrees with legalization is being paid by the big pharma lobby, jackass. In fact I don’t find it very likely that a lobby of ANY kind would be paying someone to leave comments on NORMLs page. Some people (not the person you’re going after, burnout) just haven’t been educated on the facts of marijuana. We have a hard enough time with our image without conspiracy minded morons trying to draw lines in the sand and make enemies out of people who could be swayed. I’ve found numerous people who are turned off of the idea of legalization specifically because supporters are just plain fucking assholes about it. Of course this isn’t at all what our movement is about, but if someone on the fence talks to a prick like you, that is the taste our community leaves in their mouth. So do us ADULTS in the legalization movement a favor and just sit home, shut the hell up and stay out of this conversation because you make us all look like complete blithering idiots. Calvina Fay would have a fucking field day with you.
How much did Pfizer (not Pfizner) pay YOU to get on here and make us all look braindead and irrational?
What’s funny is that those against LEGALIZATION would argue that Legalized Cannabis will lead to a rise in health problems; overloading hospitals that are already struggling.
please forgive my grammar from this point on( I just smoked a resin-bowl).
HOWEVER. The theory that just the oppisite would occure MAY indeed hold water.
Because A: if….just IF LEGAL cannabis became more popular than alcohal….ergo less consumption of Alcohal products. That would mean(in the long run) that less people would end up with LIVER and other alcohal-related health problems….not to mention how many less folks in AA meetings/rehab(again, in the long run). Same situation with ciggerettes and LUNG-related health problems.
And B: Cannabis use is widely known to encourage euphoric feelings, help with mental stress, and provide relief from a number of physical ailments…AND Hemp food/seed products contain protien, fiber, and Omega 3’s and 6’s.(last I checked; Omega fats were pretty darn high up on the Ol’ vital nutrition chart)
SOOO. A + B; right?. It would appear to me, reviewing these predictions, THAT With less folks consuming drugs like Alcohal/ciggerettes; which MAY lead to health probems…and MORE people enjoying the Cannabis/Hemp plant; Which CAN aid in good health and mental well-being….hospitals will see their “BURDEN” lighten rather than increase.
just a stoner’s guess…..
Nxt Wks prediction: IF Cannabis is Legalized; BettyCrocker BrownieMix stock set to jump 23 points inside 7 months.
Excellent work, great testimony. I hope everyone is not just “waiting” for this to happen, but taking action. Every time you get an e-mail from NORML, take one minute to click on the link and send an e-mail to your legislators!! The only way change occurs is when enough people make their voices heard.
On a completely unrelated note, just so you all know, those of us who live in California do NOT call it “Cali.” I don’t know why everyone from other states call us Cali. Nobody here calls it that. (Unless they just recently moved here and haven’t realized it yet.) Just thought you all should know. Thanks.
Holy Smokes! A sane, clearly delivered message for the end of marijuana prohibition. The judge is telling the ruling legislators that “enough-is-enough, the people want change, the system of marijuana prohibition is broken, it has failed.
We will win this War and all we have to do is tell the truth …………..GOD IS ON OUR SIDE .
Today on the radio i heard a Doctor whose a regular guest on the Show mention that in China 60% of the population smokes tobacco .
I had a Friend as a pen pal from China last year . He was a coordinator for the events that were occuring there at that time. He texted me & told me in China that if your even caught with marijuana you could be executed . So , we have tobacco that kills a good portion of the population from smoking ( just think about health care costs ) yet , marijuana is a crime .
In , Russia people are killing themselves with liquor . Just think of the health care & costs needed along with all the pharmaceutical medications that are needed for these people .Marijuana possession is a serious crime there .Marijuana kills no one .It can cure without side effects .It would help to eliminate the need for Tobacco , prescription medications and Alcohol .
The amounts spent on all the health care there and around the World is staggering .The Drug , Alcohol & Tobacco Companies are raking in an untold amount of money .With marijuana usage these Companies would lose tons of money .
” The Devil lusts for money & power over the World ”
Satan the Master of Deception has ……
” DECEIVED THE WHOLE WORLD “
This is amazing. I see things getting better daily. Knowledge is power, so get out there and spread it people. Do not be afraid. All free minds to the front.
>>>> Pfizer , Incorporated 68 BILLION PURCHASE of Wyeth closed last week after U.S. and Canadian antitrust regulators cleared the deal making Pfizner the World’s largest DRUGMAKER .
Understand ?
The drug testing kit
has been The Great Satan’s most
powerful tool used to deceive the Whole
World .
These drugs kills , causes numerous health problems , aggression , violence –
tests = NEGATIVE yet…..
…..marijuana a gift from God that kills no one and causes no known side effects , health problems or agression – tests = POSITIVE .
God does not deceive the World – Satan does .
Great video, keep it up NORML.
and to #29 i think your a little confused, #4 is very much in favor of our cause…
Sweet! Awesome, thanks for posting these 🙂
I wish Judge Gray would come into the mainstream media and talk, his defense was accurate, real and air tight.
I’ll be watching for this man.
#29 misinterpreted what #4 said. Thats all, no need for conflict and name calling.
Judge Gray is a brilliant man with a universal understanding of this topic. His appearance in the movie/documentary “American Drug War” is also brim full of similar common sense. I hope NORML takes some action to reward Judge Gray and ensure his continued involvement in reforming our Marijuana Laws.
I have been up all night fighting with God something i have known for years but , was unable to tell you under the Bush ( who received millions from ” those ” Companies )& former administrations . If i said what i knew at that time i would of been cast into prison or Jail . With our good President , Mr. Obama i can speak without censorship or fear .God bless you , President . But , now someone wants me to bring you the truth and this is why i am still awake at this early hour .
One of the reasons our Military / Government is against marijuana is
because it does not cause or create aggression
Aggression is needed to fight war against one
another . To fight and to kill .
Once we bring the truth about this God given miracle drug known as marijuana / cannabis throughout the World it will then that the World will be at peace . Nation will not rise against Nation . Kingdom not against Kingdom .
For it is written………
When someone like judge Gray sends a message like he did it will flow like a river through our world. He did a wonderful job! I hope he gets a lot of air time from the mass media. He is exactly what this movement needs. I would love to see him and Keith or Paul along with someone from LEAP, MPP and SAFER all on a major network talking about lifting prohibition. Someone should contact Oprah to see if they can get them on her show. Women will be the ones that put this over the top.
This kind of articulate, informed testimony from a person who has been involved in the legal morass of the drug war is going to go a long way towards defusing the prohibitionist scare stories. The war on all things cannabis has been warped and completely bassackwards from the start. Judge Gray clearly points out the reality. It will be fascinating to see how the lawmakers respond to this common sense presentation.
I’m from the show me state. A good dose of CA style hearings would illuminate the truth in MO. Our legislature won’t recognize marijuana as anything other than a dangerous controlled substance. Gov. Jay Nixon should examine his budget to find the same waste and issue an executive order to stop the insanity. If we throw enough e.coli at the wall some might stick.
how can that speech by da judge be televised nationally from msm? it was the truest version of all things everyone should be focused on concerning this issue of legalization. their are so many folks from all walks of life ,be they women, dark skin or light. no matter of spanish or, german desent. wether old or young. we are all in this together. quite a unity i’d say. we all need to be heard by our government…all of us. we need to give them witness of good example reguarding responsibilty, lifestyle and, true caring for our neighbors. i have had to stop using canabis because of drug testing at work. i hate every minute of it except the fact that i no longer support the black market. i know it was not always like that when i could, i would find a supply from here locally but, sometimes we had to get where we could.im prayin to the great spirit that when all this is said and done, that we will be able to support americas families legally and get rid of this stinkin black market that is one of the dark clouds over this marijuana issue.america stands to gain so much from legalization. thanks to norml for continuing the good fight.
I think another thing that needs to be considered in these hearings is that you don’t have to smoke to achieve the desired results….and that eating or vaporizing is virtually non toxic?
Amazing speech! I am amazed at how fast everything is moving, I was expecting a much worse longer draw out of the re-legalization of marijuana. I am hoping and praying that these people listened to the facts of marijuana. I had 14 year old friends selling drugs from there 18 yr old brothers. Everything in there is true and its coming out to the public. I wish I could say more to people in my work area ( anti drug policies all over and they are liberal with drug tests) The great day will be when everyone at work can know who smokes pot and who doesn’t I am sure it will be interesting.
Wonderful words of protest. I agree whole heartedly that this prohibition of cannabis should be stopped. For years I have waited for these outstanding citizens to come out of the closet and say how they truly feel about the topic with out worrying about what there peers will think of them. Truth be told if you are against the reform its truly because you are ignorant on policy and blinded by government public service announcements. I pray every night that this country will open its eyes to the violence its creating by its unconventional laws. Peace Be With You All, And I Hope You Will Spread The Words Of Wisdom That Has Been So Eloquently Spoken To The California Assembly Committee.
Sorry to borrow another baseball term, but I would say the cleanup hitter knocked that argument out of the park. It’s pretty hard to argue against well-stated facts.
Revelation 2 : 10
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer ; behold , the Devil shall cast some of you into prison , that ye may be tried ; and ye shall have tribulation ten days ; be thou faithful unto death and i will give thee a ” crown of life ” .
I believe that many people, not all, want to get intoxicated by something. Stress is a big factor in causing people wanting to temporarily alter their mood. This can be accomplished with alcohol, cigarettes, or any one of the ever-increasing amounts of prescription drugs.
Most people who don’t have access to prescription drugs due to the fact that they don’t qualify for any will most often turn to alcohol. This is because it’s legal and only has an age and time of day restriction. Alcohol is a mood-altering substance that is known to temporarily increase aggression, lower coordination and cause liver disease. Also, it’s possible to consume too much in one sitting and succumb to alcohol poisoning. On top of it all, it develops physical addiction that quite often requires hospitalization to overcome.
Marijuana does lower motor skills, however without the audacity and short-term bravery that alcohol grants, a person isn’t driving recklessly in an attempt to get where they’re going. It is not known as a substance that increases aggression, though that’s not to say it can’t happen to a certain few. It does not develop a physical dependency of any kind, only a mental need, a desire to achieve the high, similar to a jogger wanting to achieve a runners high. It can cause some respiratory damage, but ONLY if a person chooses to smoke marijuana and not take it in with any other method. Edibles, tinctures, vaporizers, even lip balms are available to assist in a healthy way to consume THC.
The most important thing in comparison to the two would be that marijuana has caused no deaths, zero. I’m not going to sift through the numbers of lives lost and destroyed by alcohol, but everyone knows someone who has suffered. It is not possible to take in enough at one time or in a lifetime.
Keeping marijuana prohibited while making alcohol readily available is sending the wrong message to kids. If a kid wants to relieve his stress artificially and legally, alcohol is his main option. That hardly seems logical. It seems whoever is profiting from its illegality is doing anything and everything they can to keep it that way. Because there is no way that anyone in our government powerful enough to make changes can’t actually see this. It’s plain and simple, it’s right in front of theirs and everyone’s faces. I’m not asking for marijuana to be decriminalized for consistencies sake, or else they might just exacerbate the problem by re-prohibiting alcohol. I just hope people can finally realize the futility of prohibition.
Regarding my last comment, when I wrote “Keeping marijuana prohibited while making alcohol readily available is sending the wrong message to kids. If a kid wants to relieve his stress artificially and legally, alcohol is his main option”, I mean that said kid is looking at it from a perspective of someone of age. Essentially, seeing that alcohol is legal to adults while marijuana is straight prohibited to everyone gives a horribly backwards impression when comparing the dangers of the two.
“WE DEMAND SCIENTIFIC SCRUTINY OF CANNABIS!”
As a schedule I substance, there can be “NO RESEARCH.”
“WE DEMAND SCIENTIFIC SCRUTINY OF CANNABIS.”
Cannabis provides symptomatic relief from a number of medical conditions…in fact…more than 250 medical conditions. Cannabinoids modulate the acivity of virtually every messenger system in the brain. This certainly would explain why cannabinoids have such an impact on so many medical conditions. Its medical efficacy has been noted since the beginning of time. It is the “MOST IMPORTANT” of 10,000 medical plants.
How could anyone, with even the slightest mental capacities, dispute its medicinal values. It seems preposterous to provide its “PROVEN EFFICACY,” based on over 17,000 scientific studies, to a handfull of prohibitionists who won’t accept the truth anyway. A prohibitionist with an attitude once asked me…
“Where did you hear that?”
I replied…
“I heard it from a parrot named Polly, who heard it from a frog named Frogy…you ignormous yutz!”
Prohibs are so far removed from reality it stinks. Government’s portrayal of cannabis is more hysterically funny than a Keystone Cop movie. The simple fact of the matter is…the most damage cannabis will do is…cause you to eat a whole bag of Doritos.
Here’s the point…prohibitionists in the past, based on their numbers, have exaggeratedly so, viewed us as “INSIGNIFICANT.” Now the shoe is on the other foot, and prohibitionists are regarded as a minuscule group of knot heads with a focal capacity no further than the nose on their face…if that far.
So!…to satisfy opponents and proponents alike, “WE DEMAND SCIENTIFIC SCRUTINY OF CANNABIS.” Let’s get to “THE TRUTH”…and…let’s do it without any further delay…”STAT!” Let’s put this argument to bed, once and for all. Let’s, at the very least, get cannabis in its appropriate schedule…that being schedule III. Schedule II is “LIMITED USE AND RESEARCH”…
and…”LIMITED IS A SHORT-FALL TO THE TRUTH.” We’ve had enough “LIMITED MENTALITY.” Cannabis either is…or…isn’t. You can’t be half pregnant. You either are…or…you are not. There’s no two ways about it.
This is a “CHALLENGE” to all opposition. Put your money where your mouth is…or…take your little act down the road…bye! bye!
He had one of the most solid defenses to the idea that it will hurt children. He should go mainstream with his ideas even if it means he himself has to send information out to newspapers, tv shows, ect.
Legendary debating there… James P. Gray kicking some butt. Flawless speech.
What a wonderful, concise, irrefutable speech. Thank You, Judge Gray, for speaking the truth. Can this country be any more DUMB on crime than we are? Sadly, many states are seemingly ramping up prohibitionist policies and worsening the legal penalties.
I certainly hope CA’s legislators stayed until the end. Unfortunately, the Minnesota legislators were not human enough to listen to victims of our states’ drug laws at the hands of specialized drug task forces. They walked out before people had the chance to share how their possessions were unlawfully forfeited and never charged with any crimes. It is being chalked up to “administrative oversights” and “failures of oversight.”
Still more disturbing was the MN Supreme Court’s recent decision to include dirty bong water as a “controlled substance.” It can’t help but be noticed that recent political appointees to the court by Pawlenty were in the majority decision.
“Tough on crime” approaches fail more and more the harder they push. When will this approach be seen as the politically DISADVANTAGEOUS one?
Sanity now in public policy. If the people in office now cannot get it done, get rid of the them all at the polls. Political parties need to be cast aside and science and reason must prevail.
Yea,Yea,Yea! I don’t even want to be regulated, why would I want, MY WEED, regulated. GET REAL PEOPLE! They just want money and will do anything for it, I don’t want to give any of mine, comes to hard to get! I’ll grow my own first, that way they can still get their money by hook-n-crook like always. PEACE…AL…
[Editor’s note: Under cannabis legalization, adults can grow their own or buy it–just like with beer and wine products.]
Im glad to here yall are getting legalization of cannabis…But here in georgia we have not even got Medical cannabis i hope cali pulls this off cause maybe georgia will follow…I just wish all states could just drop all the bs about the plant i dont even consider it a “DRUG”Good luck and i hope something could be done in georgia or im heading out west…
Wait let me get this straight…
You’d rather go to prison for a long time and have to be in there with all of the crazies and have a permanent record and all of this other shit if you’re caught. Rather than pay a simple tax that helps the economy…
I really don’t understand
Good delivery of testimony by the majority of the pros and cons on Cannabis regulation.Judge Gray,”was” the Man of the Hour., Very specific on all points. Should be norml’s poster child “so to speak”.
i sure hope california legalizes!
http://www.californiacannabisinitiative.org
but now i am truly STOKED and pysched to get stoned in breckenridge, colorado as their VOTERS WILL LEGALIZE NEXT week!
VERY EFFETICVE SPEAKER AND GREAT PERSPECTIVE!!! LOGIC WILL PREVAIL!!!!!! JAMES P. GRAY FOR PRESIDENT!!!

PBS has a program on Tuesday night (I believe) at 9 p.m. The title of the show is Frontline – The Medicated Children. The promo advertisement said there are over 6 Million children taking pharmaceuticals.

The Judge has gone to MSM. He also has a book: Why Our Drug Laws Have Failed and What We Can Do About It.
iam not lazy or stupid getting darn tired of the lies and bullshit
Some of you should really spell check your posts. Some of you should not post at all. If you’re going to say something in support of weed try not to sound like an idiot, it hurts our cause. Nothing personal. 2. I just finally saw this video. I noticed one KEY detail which is vital when holding public meetings like this, and that is DO NOT let the prohibitionists comment on the beneficial or detrimental health effects. LEAVE THAT TO DOCTORS! Number one, most doctors agree marijuana is a relatively safe substance, so they’re the ones that should comment on the issue publicly, not COPS. Great work – if they stick to the fiscal issues, which are failing, and is their supposed area of expertise, not the medical or detrimental effects of drugs. Scientists and physicians are the ones that are to comment on those publicly.
America’s problem is that the Drug Czar has been the model for local and state law enforcement propaganda for a very long time. They have a hard ass cop leading the fight against drugs instead of having a doctor, with a Ph.D. handling drug problems. That’s what the Drug Czar should really be, and people don’t realize that they’re taking health and scientific advice from guys who shoot at targets – not people who study the universe.
So EVERYONE, keep that in mind when organizing public debate. Let the Scientists and Doctors comment on the health and physiological impacts, and we let cops worry about well… how they focus their resources, etc. like it was done brilliantly here in this meeting. People aren’t dumb, they can see the truth better that way.
PS. notice the faces the religious lady makes when the guy is talking about the “new super pot” -HILARIOUS!- two what was that whole ramble about? It sounded like a crude, garbled misunderstanding of Cannabinoids. The guy says that Cannabinoids are the actual beneficial substances, but NOT THC which is also a Cannabinoid; freaking idiot the substances are so similar that’s why they’re all in one exclusive category, haha.. Then he said that these beneficial Cannabinoids have been ‘bred out’ LOL! This guy is on CRACK not weed. But then he fails to realize there’s synthetic THC, which is the governments adulteration of THC. SO stupid. Wow, I can’t believe people with such a useless brain get so much air time.
ALSO, we are going to let the price of marijuana fall, but she doesn’t understand we want high class facilities that dispense our cannabis. We want a whole awesome clean wholesome experience, without hassle and selection. So we will pay higher prices above production prices for this convenience, and we will grow our own, and we will buy some too to compare our stash to share with our friends. This woman underestimates this market. We’re not buying gas, when we buy our pot we wanna touch it, smell it – maybe even try it! Ya know, all justifications for higher prices, and competition.
NO pothead likes buying drugs on the street. It’s the only time you feel like a criminal, and the highest chance of you getting arrested happens during buys.
Holy Smokes! Time for a SAFER choice. Like I just read:
No Hangover, No Violence, No Calories.

Go California!
As a Canadian who’s watched our current conservative government during 2009 increase penalties for marijuana use, including mandatory minimum jail sentences, I can’t tell you how exciting it is to see the groundswell of support for the legalization of marijuana in California and other states.
Please California, legalize marijuana for adult recreational use and get the movement started for the rest of us. We’re counting on you to do the right thing.
Finally, President Obama, don’t be the last one to be sensible on this issue.
James Grey is a true credit to the independent spirit of the law, and the need for personal liberty. He has seen our state grow into a police state, locking up drug addicts. He’s a brilliant speaker, but most judges lack any individual ability to think for themselves, and are consequently not going to make the incredible about face he did in the OC of all places.
This is an exciting time to be in
