…At least that’s how the public comment process works.
This year, the United Nations World Health Organization is due to review the current international classification of marijuana, THC, cannabidiol, and other related compounds and preparations this year. In the lead-up, the WHO is asking member nations submit feedback, of which no nation is more influential than the United States.
Between now and April 23rd, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is seeking public comment from “interested persons” (I.E. you) regarding the international Schedule 1 Status of marijuana under international agreements.
We have made it incredibly easy for you to make your voice heard and need you to join your voice with thousands of other NORML members in making it clear: Cannabis does not fit in a controlled substances agreement, let alone Schedule 1.
Click here to submit a comment.
Right now, we are collecting comments and will be delivering them by hand to the FDA offices on April 23rd.
In the action alert, you will find a pre-drafted comment that we encourage you to amend and include any other important aspects you deem worthy. You can draw additional information from our Factsheets and About Marijuana pages to expand your position for these public comments.
Don’t forget, democracy is not a spectator sport. Go on record with the FDA and fill out a comment to recommend the international descheduling of marijuana NOW.

Needs to be legal in all 50 states effective immediately.
Tim Owen,
The surest way to make that happen is to vote.
Vote in progressive marijuana legalizers, and vote out those who support more drug war!

As a nurse seeing many patients who suffer from oll king of pain, especially arthritis patient. Cannabis would be a good alternative that wikk help many. I think it sgould be apprive in all 50 states. Thanks
The overcrowding of jails & prisons is uncanny, I’ve worked in NY & CA Treatment Courts, therapeutic communities, outpatient, inpatient & more. I am a CASAC, MRAS & MSW, we need those beds for addicts that need medical assistance & in depth treatment.
I was on tons of benzodiazepines & marijuana has helped me get from 8mg to 3mg. We KNOW there are medical benefits, which contradicts the definition of Schedule 1 Narcotics – No medical purposes at all. LSD & Heroin have medical purposes too.
I can keep going.
Too many people are suffering and dying from Big Pharma, tell me how many have EVER died from Cannabis alone? There is a lot of research going on in other countries, such as Israel, why won’t our federal government look into this? As the government states, ‘no accepted medical use’ for cannabis according to federal law,” Why was a U.S. Patent No. 6,630,507 was granted to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2003? It seems it’s all about the money! You don’t care a bit about how this has helped MILLIONS of citizens, you care about making and keeping the MONEY. Big Pharma…you sold your soul to them. You need to do one thing in your life right, make the WHOLE plant legal for ALL citizens of the United States.
I believe cannabis is more properly classified as a supplemental nutrient than a drug.
Bravo! Hopefully some way will be found to apply this to the thousands of bs articles which are likely to go on appearing with “the drug” used in later sentences when “cannabis” or a synonym was the antecedent.
.
Similarly the still prevailing practice of heading articles about cannabis with a “stock photo” of a Hot Burning Overdose Monoxide joint– even when the articles are about microdose. (A word for our sponsor: when seen by a child, every joint and every photo of a joint is a $igarette advertisement. Oh, but you knew that already.)
Cannabis should not be a controlled substance.
Been using weed since I was 21 years old, am 68 now. It helps me relax and with the pain of arthritis in my hands and hips.
Only use 4 or 5 times a month no addiction what so ever. I feel weed is less addictive than beer or whiskey.
Please legalize Marijuana in the US. I promise i’ll be good!
Marijuana should not be scheduled at all. After almost 100 years of prohibition, it’s time for 21st century science.

NORML emphasizes the need to DEschedule, and not REschedule, noting that cocaine is a schedule 2 substance and continues to thrive on the black market. In order to sustain equitable, safe and affordable treatment for everything from neurological disease, opioid addiction and overdose, or even restoring the cooperation and communication between law enforcement and our comunities, a fairly taxed legal market for both medical marijuana and responsible adult use must be maintained. Young people don’t need to be denied an occupation or financial aid because of a whole plant remedy that even the DEA admits has killed no one.
The government only want what is best for then and not what is the choice of the people. Marijuana should be legal and it should not be up to the governments to make out of this a new monopoly.
Marijuana should be legalized and supervise as any other business.
I can not understand why a people that so proudly proclaims yells of freedom! When prohibition of alcohol was repealed. Could turn to oppress those seeking just that from an alternative solution to thier own desires that has statistically proven to be less damaging, and highly successful in some medical applications. I fear that this leaves only one solution as to why the Government’s of the world should continue prohibition of cannabis; to suppress the indiviuality of free thought and expression that many of it’s users developed. If Government’s are for the people, let them be and legalize now.
This is ridiculous. I’ve used marijuana since i was in jr. high school. Imho it does not need to be scheduled period much less schedule I.
Please focus on important things.
This needs to be international there are massive issues and this should nt be one of them.
How can you not reschedule it? 10’s of thousands of years of use as both medical and industrial. Scientific studies proving its benefits, proving that it’s not what you say it is and it is actually something that can help solve a lot of the problems you caused both financially and medically.
Marijuana helps me with my physical and mental pain and it does not impair me or intoxicate me. I can use it and go for a run and play sports or I can make art or just be productive and work. It is the antidote to anger and depression.
I feel that Marijuana has helped me get off of pain pills and it has drastically reduced the amount of Xanax and atI vans I am required to take each day.I find Marijuana to be no more addictive than the pleasure I get from a great meal.please legalize this wonderful herb.
The FDA, the DEA in most federal agencies are completely corrupt answering to corporations before the will of the people. According to the DEA drug schedule cannabis is more dangerous than methamphetamine, heroin or fentanyl! Until we separate these corrupt corporations from our system of governance we will never be free again!
We need to legalize cannibis to heal the damage done by bad medicine.
We need to legalize cannibis to heal the damage done by bad medicine. I’m off pharmacudicals now, CBD oil and thc have replaced everthing.
Cannabis shouldn’t be scheduled at all. Phytocannabinoids occur naturally in the plant. Endocannabinoids occur naturally in our body. When your body doesn’t produce enough endocannabinoids (deficiency) your bodies immune system isn’t controlled properly (autoimmune) but if phytocannabinoids are supplemented the deficiency can be nullified and prevented all from an all natural harmless safe plant that’s been used for well over 3,000 years and only been illegal for less then 100 years supported by government propaganda to make HEMP illegal and to imprison black and mexican people
Agreed.
And now that this administration is imposing a trade war with China over soy, legalizing hemp just became more profitable to the very industries that own some of the same petrol patents that prohibited hemp in the first place; namely petrochemical and timber patents owned by Koch Industries which they purchased from Dupont in 2001, and genetically engineered dicamba-resistant soy owned by Bayer-Monsantos.
The irony was that too many white farmers who voted against marijuana because Anslinger’s racist propaganda scapegoated Mexicans for a non-existant threat were interested in taking farmlands from US Citizens who were deported and keeping a cheap, illegal labor force… yet these same farmers had no idea the marijuana they were outlawing and demonizing was the hemp that sustained their farms.
Hemp as well as all whole plants need to be made open source. Put that in your letter to Trump’s FDA…
Marijuana should be legal just like alcohol and tobacco. No crime should be attached to it. It helps me and others to avoid the treacherous consequences of alcohol and other hard drugs.
I am disabled and suffer from chronic pain in my neck, back, and hips from a severe auto accident in 1996. I take 2 different opiates (1 for breakthrough pain, and 1 for extended relief) on a daily basis. I have been doing so since 2002. I may be physically addicted to the opiates, but not psychologically, because of medical marijuana. When I smoke, or vape weed, or it’s derivatives, in addition to my usual meds, I don’t experience the intense cravings for more opiates. In fact, most days I use less than is currently prescribed.
Medical marijuana is certainly key to reducing the current opiate epidemic. I believe marijuana should at the very least be removed as a schedule 1 “drug”, and serious consideration given to outright legalization. It is nowhere near as harmful as alcohol, and as it becomes more widely used and accepted by society as a whole, I believe the inevitable testing that will be done by the medical community once it is no longer a schedule 1 “drug” will prove that it is in fact a “wonder drug” with many more uses and benefits than we could imagine now since testing & studying it’s benefits are not allowed by it’s current schedule 1 classification! I speak from my personal experience with marijuana of over 35 years. My personal experience, as well as the experiences of so many others like me, should be considered more relevant, valuable, and defining than any current, or past study that has ever been done. The U.S. DEA should concentrate it’s resources on ridding the world of drugs that are actually harmful to people individually and society as a whole, not on harrasing doctors and patients that are using marijuana to relieve chronic pain. The DEA should never have the ability, or authority, to get involved in patient / doctor relationships!
I have used marijuana for migraines and have experienced so much relief. Marijuana is much safer that all the prescriptions I have been prescribed in the 20 years that I have had migraines. These migraines are debilitating and I find myself in the emergency room more times than I can count. I have even landed in the emergency room due to side effects of some of the medications I’ve taken. I am unable to be an effective parent to my daughter when I am suffering with a migraine. Unfortunately with marijuana being classified as a schedule 1 drug, I’m unable to use marijuana legally. Also in Illinois migraines is not a qualifying condition for medical marijuana. This needs to be fixed! #legalizeit
It should be legal with no classifications
The only reason that was classified to start with was big drug companies wanting to rob the American people down as much as possible what they sell does not work and it destroys life it is time we take care of our self keep government and big drug companies out of it stop the epidemic
I second what everyone one else is saying. There are Soo many reasons to leagalize that all can’t be listed here now however I will say there is nothing to lose but so much to gain by legalizing medical marijuana and allowing and finding ongoing research so we can fully understand the benefits of marijuana. Also I believe that marijuana indoor cannabis whichever you prefer to call it should be rescheduled it should not be a schedule 1 narcotic listed with heroin and LSD which as mentioned before both have medicinal values but my concern here today is the rescheduling of marijuana been since there is medicinal value and everyone knows beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is true.
Ending prohibition is a no brainer. The tax revenue will bail out States that are struggling with finances. It will help reduce opiate addiction. It is far safer than alcohol. The health benefits are amazing. The majority of Americans support legalization. The only thing standing in the way are pharmaceutical and liquor industry lobbyists and corrupt politicians.
This very helpful and beneficial medicinal herb has no business being in a category for highly dangerous substances that have no medical value. It has been a travesty, costing too many people needless suffering, as well as the lives of many, all from being denied accessibility to a non-toxic alternative as treatment. Cannabis is proven and has been for a few thousand years now. End the madness.
When I came home from the Army, I brought with me a bad case of degenerative arthritis in both knees and severe pain in both of my ankles. Along for the ride came two darvocets, two percocets and a third pill to compliment them – all to be taken twice a day. To add to that, I came home with depression that had several pills of there own.
Once I started smoking on a regular basis, I was able to throw those prescriptions in the trash where they belong.
Anyone who says this herb isn’t medicinal knows not what they are talking about.
Also, as far as combusting and smoking it…it not only helps all of the previously mentioned problems, but I can also breathe better.
Smoked cannabis is the best medicine one can use.
Good for you, brother; happy to hear that pot helps you!
Please end this ridiculous scheduling of this wonderful medicinal plant that has so much potential to end the opiod crisis. Free up LEO to fight real crimes. Free up prisons and overcrowding. The potential revenue is mind blowing but all the good it can and will do it is a crime that it is a schedule 1 narcotic.
No one wants their kid to become addicted to drugs, but no one wants their kid to go to jail for a bad decision he/she made either. NO ONE should ever go to jail for drug POSSESSION/USE. The ONLY people who should be ‘criminalized’ in the fight against dangerous drugs should be the dealers.
That said, if tobacco and alcohol haven’t been deemed dangerous or addictive enough to be place in schedule 1, it seems completely ridiculous that marijuana would be. People are smoking it all over the place, and it is NOT causing people to die. It is NOT causing people to go break into homes to get the money to ‘get their fix’. It is NOT causing people to become violent and hurt others. It is NOT causing auto accidents at a rate anywhere NEAR that of alcohol, and it most certainly is NOT causing anywhere near the amount of damage that the war against it has caused! Marijuana has caused very little trouble directly. Marijuana PROHIBITION has caused more carnage than can be described here. ALL the ‘death and destruction’ around marijuana comes from the fact that the market for it has been placed in the hands of criminals for the last 80 years.
We don’t need to BAN something to send the message to our children that ‘drugs are bad’. We have SIGNIFICANTLY reduced tobacco use over the last couple of decades. We didn’t have to throw ONE PERSON is prison for ‘tobacco possession’ to do it either! What did we do? We told the truth about what tobacco does. If we come to find out that marijuana causes cancer, then we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. Lots of things cause cancer. Doesn’t mean they need to be banned.
There are stupid kids out there that huff gas fumes and airplane glue and spray paint! I personally DO NOT feel the need to arrest these people for their ‘crimes’ of being morons, only to spend tax monies housing and feeding them! THAT’S JUST STUPID!!!!
The medical use of cannabis has been proven highly beneficial as medicine many times over for many years.
On the issue of recreational cannabis, that too can also be beneficial if it’s regulated in a sensible and friendly way where people feel safe and not finding themselves in a danger zone among bad people.
De-schedule and legalize cannabis. It never should have been Schedule 1 in the first place.
It is no longer acceptable for government or healthcare to deny the progress and possibilities of Cannabis. In fact at this point it’s ‘almost’ criminal.
The saddest truth to me is that no matter what EVERYONE gains by the legalization of marijuana…
Hope,
At this point, convincing private prisons, Big Pharma, Big Agriculture, the DOJ and black market cartels that fairly taxed and regulated marijuana is good for themselves, their families and their communties is like convincing a pack of hyenas that they should share amongst themselves before the lions come back to feed. It’s not in their nature.
But feeding innocent people deadly synthetics for profit while investing in the outlaw of prohibition of whole plant marijuana which can help people get off those same lethal synthetic drugs? Not even hyenas do that.
We’re voting with our dollars for legal marijuana. In a capitalist economy, what we purchase makes the law, what is sold legally gets taxed, and what gets taxed gets representation… only when we make our Reps do it by writing the law for them.
I have been on pain meds since surgeries on ankle and knee. I knew the day was coming when my meds would be
impossible to get. Not wanting to be controlled by pain
management I signed up for medical marijuana. I’m
happy to say no more pain meds. Please legalize marijuana
so others can afford to do the same.
Too many deaths from opioids
Fix the problem please
Stop unneeded deaths from opioids legalize marijuana now
Legalize with no government regulation!
Let those that know Cannabis regulate it
No government regulation up to now and we have it all set up and ready. Growers, researchers, transport, points of sales
Why the hell we need government? No gubment help in the 50 years I’ve been a consumer…
Cannabis is a naturally occuring plant on the Earth. How can any government decide what a person can , may put into their body if it grows organically ?
It’s absolutely crazy that cannabis is listed as a scheduled I drug. We have been fooled for years by our government. It’s time to end prohibition now.
Medical marijuana has been proven to be beneficial in the treatment of many illnesses, both physically and mentally. I further believe if medical marijuana was prescribed for a lot of different illness that cause pain it will help control the opioid epidemic. The big pharmaceutical companies are making millions of dollars while thousands of people die every day from an overdose, and thousands of people suffer every day because they can’t afford the drugs that were prescribed. Do the right thing, change the laws. Thank you, Andrea Scott
With the evidence we already have,I believe it is ridiculous to ban cannabis.
Yes, it is well overdue that we Deregulate Marijuana and Legalize it in all 50 States. The Science speaks for itself. The studies that have been allowed to move forward and be published are out there. The Evidence is there, it’s been proven effective for multiple medical and health conditions, including mental health conditions. It should be a legal option for anyone choosing to get off of opioid medication or anyone being cut off of medication by thier insurance or Drs due to new Rules set by Insurance companies — side note Insurance companies should not be making Medical Decisions for Patients. The people/boards making these decisions are NOT even Doctors.
JUST DO IT!!
Yes! Please, for the love a kittens.
OVERWHELMINGLY we the People have spoken. The tides have turned. Let’s move forward.
It is better than pills at least it doesn’t kill people it helps my pain and the rest of my illness
My wife got her medical marijuana card and has been using the products available in moderation to help her sleep better, battle PTSD, post partum depression, and anxiety. It works. I’ve used marijuana in the past to help back pains and help me sleep as well. It works. And it should not be a schedule 1 drug.
Sadly though, as long as the feds, dea, and Evangelical Christian’s, hard core right wing nut bags like Nancy Grace who will pray on their fears like she did with medical marijuana and marijuana edibles claiming that they target children by making them look like candy, have anything to say about it, it won’t get declassified.
Too many people in power make too much money off privatized prisons to allow what we all want and know is right. They’d lose on all those “pot head” and “dope smoker” arrests.
I’m glad you’re able to med with MMJ. My wife and I both use pot to aid our sleep.
You’re right about the right wingers. I notice they love to deal in fear. The few times I’ve ventured over to Fox “News” I noticed that snarkiness and fear-mongering are always on full display.
IT’S A GOD GIVEN PLANT FOR MEDICINE THAT ACTUALLY WORKS! I SUFFERED FOR YEARS IN PAIN. STARTED TAKING ALL THE MEDS YOU PASS OUT AND SUFFERED EVEN MORE.CANNABIS OIL CURED ME OF 220MG’S OF OXYCONTIN A DAY!!! NO MORE LYRICA..NO MORE ZANAX…NO MORE CYMBALTA, BLOOD PRESSURE OR CHOLESTEROL SYNTHETICS!!!! YOU ARE FOR PROFIT NOT HEALTH AND WILL PAY THE PRICE….MARK MY WORDS!!!
I once knew a man named Steve Washington who worked for my mom as a skilled laborer building houses. He went to jail at age 18 in New Orleans La. over a single joint, and was in there until he was in his late thirties. Also, being black in the State of Louisiana at the time.. wasn’t exactly in his favor. He was a very kind sincere hardworking man, and I’ll never forget him, nor the ridiculous laws that would do that to someone over a green plant which has never killed anyone.
Millions have been spent on a plethora of studies to determine the affects of legalization and all have showed it to be socially and economically beneficial. Quit wasting money on redundant studies and act.
This fantastic plant is the best medicine and we need to legalize it so we can get off all those synthetic drugs that are being shoved down our throats. This is the Information Age and we need to really look at all the people who are medicating with medical marijuana. If it’s not a medicine, why are so many people proclaiming it to be? Remove the schedule so we can help more people who are suffering needlessly. We would be so much happier!
It’s’ crazy that marijuana is schedule 1, but alcohol and tobacco is sold on every corner.
I suffer from anxiety and and never get sleep at night. When I was younger (18) now 26 I would smoke before bed and got a good night’s sleep. Now with all the medications doctor’s prescribe for anxiety i.e( xanex, klonopin, valium) I would get really angry and still wake up the next day experiencing drunk like feelings that almost cost me my good paying job. Never had that with marijuana. But can’t use it b/c it illegal and I have random drug tests.when / if this is desheduled, drug tests for this should also be done away wth!
Cannabis is a plant. Why is a god -given earth- growing planet be illegal?
Please re schedule the plant! Thank you
I strongly agree on Legalizing marijuana!!It does have Health benefits. That has been proven, your not going to die off this and that should be your concern!! We have deaths everyday off leagal thing’s drinking, pills with serious side effects that can cause death and cigarettes. I never smoked a cigarette till I was 43 I smoked marijuana now to see my Doctors you can’t have it in your system.I smoke cigarettes I’m 54 now and they have already made things worse. It is the only thing that most agree on Legalize marijunan it will get us out of the Debit!!!
I have had two grown daughters die of legal opioids from their doctors.
It’s past time to take the opioids off the market and legalize rec marijuana
I could write a book on my life and relapsing m/s and how marijuana is about the best meds I can get Period !!
Legalizing marijunan is great for many Health issues. It doesn’t kill like drinking, medicenes smoking cigarettes.
Cannabis should be totally removed from the list of controlled substances and de-scheduled. The scientific evidence is very clear. This government wants to keep their conspiracy against the citizens of america alive and well. The government wants to keep all those private prisons for profit going to fatten their undeserving bankrolls. The corrupted law enforcement drug task force criminals need to be shut down once and for all. The Americans people are aware of law enforcement corruption.
Repeal prohibition on cannabis IMMEDIATELY! It is a plant from God for our usage and HOW DARE YOU EVEN THINK FOR ONE SECOND you have the right to prohibit it period
As a student of global affairs, I say that this is of great importance, and long overdue. Do not forget about Canada this July, either!
Thank you Justin, for making the quick link so we can tackle this FDA commentary on a lunch-smoke break 🙂

the FDA take orders from DEA. DEA knows nothing about drugs.Fudds+duds= same old same old. good luck. I`ve been waiting for these geezers to croak off for 45 years they must be cloning each other.
This should have been legalized years ago. Besides the jobs that would provide the lower crime rates, and the benefits of the tax revenue, which would pour into the different states, would be a tremendous help. Look at the states that already legalized it, better schools, better roads, lower crime rates, and they are benefiting all the way around. Not to mention the great medical benefits. And I for one can formally say since I am a victim of chronic pain I have tried it numerous times and it has worked which gives me a great option to avoid opiates of which I don’t like anyway. I hope I pray that finally we could legalize this fantastic plant that has unbelievable usage.
With opiods being epidemic and alcohol a legal substance that makes a person sick, pass out, or die, how can you make the assumption that marijuana is bad when all medical studies and medicinal mj patients show that it isnt? Thousands of doctors, nurses, scientists say there are no overdoses on mj, nothing harmful like your tobacco that kills and alcohol that kills. These are legal substances with horrendous repercussions, making you addicted, and does not cure one thing. Mj does not cause addiction nor is it a gateway drug. Live Science just discovered that ALCOHOL is the gateway drug that kids first get hooked on; then they go on to harder drugs, not marijuana. Do your research and help Americans who need this medicine to survive. Have you ever been in so much physical pain that you fainted? I have, in a doctor’s office, with 2 herniated lumbar discs and a broken back. Instead of using the heavy duty pain meds docs want to give me, why can’t I choose the drug that will work the best for me without me becoming addicted to my pain pills. Make marijuana legal, you will help so many many people; and save many many lives from the legal stuff now promoted.Thank you kindly.
I’ve had Crohn’s disease since 2011, my doctors have never been able to get it under control. Since Pennsylvania legalized medical marijuana this year I’ve gotten off of 3 of my medications including the 180 15mg Oxycodone I was getting a month. I’ve never felt better.
Once again, the link to submit your prescripted letter to the FDA to recommend to DEschedule marijuana:
http://norml.org/action-center/item/take-action-fda-seeking-comment-on-the-international-scheduling-of-cannabis
Marijuana is a therapeutic plant. The prohibition of marijuana supports opioid addiction, for profit prisons and pharmaceutical profit. A schedule 1 status has no base in fact. It should be unscheduled by the federal government, giving state law and individual freedom control.
I feel that if we really want to make the world a better place for the younger generations, some not even conceived yet, and fight the opioid crisis. Then we need to focus on medicine that will actually help people live a more fulfilling and productive life. I have personally consumed cannabis on a daily basis for at least the last 20 years, and nothing have ever helped my back, shoulder, and neck pain more. Nor has anything else ever given me the amount of energy and focus that cannabis does. I believe that we need to de-criminalize cannabis in order to be a better country and better people all around. It really does help. Especially for those of us that allergic to opioids, which is probably a significant number of the population (it can’t be just me, that’s not possible). If the government is truly trying to work for the people, even the little insignificant people like me, then please let it be true and work with us, let cannabis users PROVE that we are productive members of society and that cannabis does NOT affect our ability to do so.
Cannabis helps me with my chronic depression and anxiety/bi-polar disorder. I, too, believe cannabis ought to be legal in all 50 states!
all of the orgs. that are against mj.check there pockets, because they have checks in them from big pharma.
My knowledge of Cannabis has grown A LOT in the past few years. Once I cleared myself from listening to the false propaganda about the so called “dangers” of cannabis, for which there is absolutely NONE whatsoever, I became aware of this awesome plants full potential, especially when I have a wife who has rhumatoid arthritis and a sister and a close friend who both have MS. I get very frustrated when I look at the news and I hear about someone dying from a drug overdose or someone that has died from alcohol poisoning. It disgusts me that Cannabis is compared to so many very deadly substances, in which some are very legal. ie: alcohol and tobacco.
This has got to stop. We need full legalization immediately. Do it for the sake of any loved ones who you know could very well benefit from Cannabis. The fact that no one dies from weed, should be enough for it to become legal nationwide.
If we free the weed who will fill all the private jails and how can we educated the next generation of criminals.
I am aggravated that the govt chose to create ‘Reefer Madness’, that hemp clothing and other products have been unavailable due to govt, that all this time this medicine has been kept out of use, that valuable data from legintimate medical studies have been suppressed.
And we can get high, so what? Is that different that alcohol? People with money or influence can still get cannabis, why not the rest of us? The govt needs to get off their addiction to civil forfeiture, which is totally unconstitutional. Shame on all those who supported this ignorant prohibition.
Yes. Should be like tomato’s grapes and other things should not be scheduled with other drugs ?
I spent 27 years as a deputy sheriff in macomb co. Michigan. In all those years l never had to fight with anyone using marijuana. Never saw anyone overdose or go through withdrawals. I fought with many a belligerent drunk. If you’ve ever seen a person withdrawing from alcohol it’s not a pretty sight and can cause death. I went to many heroin overdoses, some more than once. And many that didn’t make it through. I have a 34 year old son that is an addict as well as both his baby momma’s. Between them they have 6 children all being raised by us grandparents. All 6 are on public health ins.THANK GOD for that. My son is a thief and is in jail again. Please legalize marijuana and tax it. Take the tax money to fight opioid abuse, both illegal and legal. If my son doesn’t break this habit soon I pray that I live long enough to get his youngest child through highschool and possibly college I have to make it into my 80’s…thank yoy
Brad,
God Bless you and your family. And thank you for your honesty.
While you click that story to the FDA, have you ever heard of the Law Enforcement Action Partership? They can offer you some support and a legal network where you can get your voice out to your Congressman. Your story needs to be told to your state and federal representatives faces.
If the politicians schedule pot they do so that the pharm industry will put money in their pocket and the pharm will control legal weed. Its a no brainer because most doctors wont prescribe it then. Especially in the south.
Hemp and cannabis should be descheduled at a federal level. As a cdl driver, I could use hemp cbd oil for pain instead of opioids and alcohol.
Sent my letter in to FDA today,If FDA reschedules Justice Department has no case to prosecute. If WHO reschedules Cannabis world wide FDA might reconsider it’s stance on it’s efficacy.Yes voting for pro cannabis politicians will help us move forward.A lot of people are suffering needlessly because they can’t get access to legal cannabis. We don’t let dogs suffer in our society,it’s time to apply that to people.
Since “racism” was the true basis for it to begin with. Ban all MARIJUANA laws.
Been smoking since 1973….Dont have any problems with it and dont know of any friends who used stronger drugs because of it
I am a mid 50’s professional. I suffered a severe brain injury as the result of a stroke. 2 years of traditional medicine did not relieve the neurological pain. Without any other options, a friend gave me some marijuana. It changed my life. It changed it so much I became a care giver so that I could have marijuana that I could track from seed to me. I was able to return to work in the white collar corporate world with the use of marijuana. It does not impede my job performance in any way but allows me to function as a productive member of society rather than being on disability. I had to abstain for 60 days in order to pass a drug test. During that time, there were no withdrawals, but a steady declination of my physical health. Once I was given the job I went right back to using marijuana to alleviate the effects of the stroke and became a high producing member of my corporate environment. It isn’t addictive (it is habit forming like soda) and it helps some of us so much that I can’t see a downside to full legalization of marijuana. Have you ever seen people die from marijuana, no. Alcohol, tobacco yes. It is cruel to keep this plant from the general public.
Why the govt needs to make money of a seeded herb while real drugs are killing people is just beyond stupid. Schedule 1 which no studies were allowed now Pharma wants solely to utilize a few parts of a very beneficial herb. The lung cancer argument is abolished. It has proven itself in real world trials. And is blatantly not toxic unlike a lot of food additives. The double standard needs to go. So does the greed. Quit controlling lives. We all know it’s for profit. Gig is up.
Time to legalize medical marijuana in all 50 states! Legislatures need to read the evidence from clinical trials!
They’re taking away our rights as human beings by keeping this plant illegal. It’s very insulting to us as creatures of the earth. Right this wrong, please!
Adderall, Oxycodone, and Fentanyl. Three reasons to legalize marijuana. Less health problems, less overdoses, and people should be able to make their own choices on what they put in their body.
Legalize Now! Get up from underneath that rock! Cannabis helps people.
STOP WASTING OUR TAX DOLLARS !!! on a policy that in the end,the FED. WILL LOOSE. Apparently, some of the smarter than us lawmakers forgot Prohibition of the 1920’s.FYI. You lost, and what did that fiasco cost US taxpayers in money, and human life?
Just except defeat graciously, and stop with the nonsense! the debate is OVER go home.
Legalize it in all 50 states and globally.
Marijuana should be legal anyway. It was made illegal under false pretenses which is a violation of the oath of office of every official that has enforced these laws. It is harmless and helps with many medical issues. Please reschedule it and work on legalizing it for recreational use. It being illegal also violates our right to safe medicine in many ways.
It should be legal to buy, grow, and use on one’s own property. Should have been legal in all 50 states years ago!

That’s odd. Because I had some JW clients that were smuggling all kinds of laundered drug money across the border with Mexico.
Marijuana should be legal for medical and adult responsible use in all 50 states. It has helped me with headaches, stomach aches, and chronic back pain and arthritis.
Marijuana should be legal, even for recreational, not to EVEN MENTION MEDICINAL! It truly helps with pain. Much safer than any opiod, that is LEGAL FOR BIG PHARMA, YES?
I’ve been Smoking it since i was 18, and there aint nothing wrong with me that a joint can’t fix….
More than the fact that cannabis has been PROVEN to be helpful against so many diseases and chronic ailments, this is about the people’s right to choose their own lifestyle. It’s called “the pursuit of happiness”, the right to choose for ourselves. I do not need a perpetual parent to oversee my choices. Marijuana should not only be legalized; it should be decriminalized.
I cared for my dying mother who had neck cancer. In her final days, she used, WITH GREAT SUCCESS, cannabis to relieve her pain and anxiety. I would in no way have allowed her to be hooked up to a MORPHINE DRIP that would render her unconscious during her final days with absolutely NO QUALITY OF LIFE and no way to communicate with her in her final hours. Instead, she was able to experience the outpouring of love from her friends and family: QUALITY OF LIFE even until the end is ESSENTIAL!!!
I have FORTY YEARS of pharmacy experience and have seen WAY TOO MANY “LEGAL” ADDICTS due to the STUPIDITY of THC and/or CBD being A SCHEDULE ONE DRUG–STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!! SERIOUSLY!! Cannabis was used for medicinal purposes for CENTURIES prior to the early 1900’s when it was DEMONIZED due to POLITICAL MANIPULATION and GREED. Remember when it was found in the US PHARMACOPEA?!?!? I’m sure you DO!! PUT IT BACK and give American Citizens the OPTION to make BETTER choices for themselves when it comes to dealing with their pain, anxiety, needing an appetite stimulant, AND YOU KNOW THE LIST GOES ON AND ON AND ON!!!
DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR AMERICAN CITIZENS!! Reschedule THC and CBD at LEAST to a SCHEDULE 2 for crying out loud!! This isn’t a request from America: THIS IS A DEMAND!!
I was on ten lorocet, ten dogbones(Xanax)four oxy twenties a day plus twelve beers plus whiskey every day and came off of it smoking weed. Even the libriarians here are just amazed and can,t for the love of them see why weed is not legal to use especially to come off a bunch of life destroying junk.
WE only need to look at the true reason it was ever put on the schedule one list originally. Cannabis was deemonized for political gain. Some industries will gain competition with the descheduling of cannabis and competition is good.
NEXT: To continue : Schedule one says no medical value and so to continue cannibus on the schedule one list is to pcontinue lying to the people and withholding a much needed resource in the figbg t;ght against opiates
Ijuan big buds Agree, it should be legal and taxed. period all 50 states.I t is so dumb that whiskey and cigcancer is legal. making billions.
When it comes to Marijuana, the Government thinks that we are in Kindergarten and the people are too stupid to make right choices. The fact is, the Government is a Kindergarten full of immature childish kids.
