New Jersey voters have overwhelmingly decided in favor of Question 1, which calls for amending the state constitution in a manner that accommodates for the adult-use possession, production, and sale of marijuana to those age 21 or older.

Voters in five states: Arizona, Mississippi, Montana, New Jersey, and South Dakota will decide this Election Day on state wide ballot initiatives to legalize marijuana for either adult-use or medical purposes. According to the latest available polls, each of these measures currently holds a lead among voters.

New Jersey: Voter Support Solidly in Favor of Marijuana Legalization Ahead of Ballot Initiative Vote
Seventy-two percent of Democrats, 65 percent of Independents, and 56 percent of Republicans expressed support for the ballot question in the latest poll. Overall, only 29 percent of New Jerseyans opposed the measure.
