Congressman Ron Paul and Steven Baldwin Debate Marijuana Legalization On Larry King

I received a late Friday afternoon call from one of Larry King’s producers in Los Angeles seeking some cannabis-related factoids and related information for an apparent debate tonight on CNN’s Larry King between libertarian Congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul, M.D. and, well, actor Steven Baldwin.
Ouch!

Watch the video of the debate here.

  1. Still think it’s funny that Steven Baldwin said he starred in Half Baked.
It was a 10 second cameo appearance at most.

  2. I can’t believe Steve Baldwin could be soooo misinformed.. Or I guess you could say he’s good at acting misinformed.

  3. Steven Baldwin is a two-faced hypocrite. Now that drugs no longer suite his fancy, he’s found a “niche” with Dr. Drew rehab reality shows. Sorry you could not control yourself, Steven. Many people can, and it should be their right to have jurisdiction over their own bodies. Plus, I thought you liked coke, Steven? Booze? Nicotine? Why throw pot under the bus? Oh yeah- you’re too old to get parts in “stoner” movies anymore, so it’s time to take your frustrations out on the people who viewed your movies and paid their money to see them. You have your money from the stoners, now its time to get more money from “rehabbing” the stoners. What a class act. This is the best the “anti” movement can come up with for a spokesperson? Another example of “do as I say, not as I did.”

  4. I frankly find it hilarious how you have a loser like S. Baldwin and a political genius like Dr. Ron Paul talking about marijuana. Ron Paul is the most thoughtful and progressive man in politics and Baldwin is a washed up arrogant prick.
    Legalize it
    Matt

  5. Dr. Paul hit the nail on the head. He must have laughed when he heard he was going to be debating with an actor

  6. Baldwin seems to have read the book “generic responses to pro-pot debaters”
ron paul proves he is still too radical to be president
but he is just the right amount to be a hero of mine

  7. there are gangsters for a reason(the law). i hate gangsters and the law. why cant we get rid of both?

  8. Ron Paul is a genius. I wish he were president. He knows that conservative values and the free market economy is the only hope for this economy…

  9. wow, great video! was baldwin just kidding? those were the most rediculous reasons to not legalize pot, theres no medical research, and its a gateway drug!! hahahahahahahaha

  10. Hmmm, did I strike a nerve? I suppose it’s my turn to hurl the insults at you and blindly make judgments or assumptions about your intelligence and character? [“Gosh, you must be a psychic revolutionary, you seem to know me and my life so well, Jim!” and so on.] Meh, I’ll pass on a flame war here on this cannabis legalization website (you know what they say about arguing on the Internet and all).
As I stated before, I hated criticizing you b/c I’m assuming we have common interests (I mean, why else would we come to this website, to talk about the intricacies of government and society?). You have you methods and beliefs and I have mine, and I hope we’re both successful in obtaining cannabis law reform.
Good luck w/ that revolution of yours. As for me, I guess I’ll just take my simple MBA-educated ass and go sit back on the couch.
…Returning to the topic at hand: If Stephen Baldwin is the best the prohibitionist have against well- educated politicians like Dr. Paul, this might just be a cake walk.

  11. O.K. I got to comment 90 and had to stop, for now.
MIKE STROUP: All capital letters in a post imply yelling. Please stop yelling because we’re for the legalization of cannabis here. Thank You
Edgar James: I haven’t thought of anyone here as being a troll, yet. However, we could all clean up our act and at least “appear” to be sober when it comes to legalizing cannabis.
“I really canโ€™t complain though b/c I live in CA, our bud laws are fairly relaxed and …”
You are indeed a lucky soul.
Da Vinci: Ha Steven Baldwin looked high during the debate. There you go, truth be told. That’s exactly what I wanted to say. Right on Da Vinci.
Beyond excellent mrcsmitty, absolutely appreciated your precise comment.
Corey: Sorry for your loss, you did your best son.
jeremy: Absolutely disgusting reply from your government officials. They are deluded.
NORML, for crying out loud, do something about this, please inform this arse-hole, please.

  12. I love this site and check it daily obsessively for good news, even though in the back of my mind i know it’s all pointless. Do the owners of this site really think the evil secret societies are ever gonna loosen their grip on us just cause we complain to them? The U.S. government is corrupt and it’s pretty naive to think we will be able to change anything.
The people with the money have the power. I would be hugely surprised if Marijuana ever became legal.
I just finished up the last of my bag a few days ago and i don’t think i will bother getting more even though it’s easy for me to get, i just don’t wanna fear for my life being ruined. My wife’s life was already screwed when she got busted and she still has trouble finding a job because of it.
The government wants us to all drink alcohol and be stupid, and they want us to smoke cigarettes to control overpopulation. they don’t want people to have weed because it makes us think for ourselves rather than how alcohol keeps everyone being stupid slobbering idiots.
Hell I wonder how i keep myself from blowing my brains out in this oppressive police state.

  13. To Edgar, I don’t want to waste norml’s space like you waste your life, so if you have something to say, come to my site. The nerve you struck was your pathetic bs response to solving everything. Sit on the couch. what a loser response. bitch and moan? that’s your response. no use you say? fuck you and anyone else that doesn’t have the balls to stand up and be counted. fuck you if you think it’s useless. Fuck anyone that stands on the sidelines and criticizes. And fuck the world if it stands in my way. I doubt norml will post this, but you fucking couch potatoes are just going to do nothing forever by doing nothing. You fucking loser couch pot heads are why no one is in the streets. You fucking loser couch pot heads are why pot is still illegal, and alcohol is still killing everyone on the roads. Because your inaction is murdering others. Fuck the couch pot heads. and fuck an mba. that’s the degree that sank the country. Mine was an mla. History: the degree of presidents and kings. We really know how to screw the world up.

  14. Steven Baldwin blames pot for being the catalyst of his drug addition and downfall and Dr. Ron Paul pretty much said BITCH! right back.
If you want to be technical, my theory is that caffeine is the gateway drug. We all know that is addicting yet millions… maybe billions consume caffeine daily from people ages 3-99. Sure, it may not impair your motor skills and judgment, but hey, alcohol is legal enough where if you choose to be in that state, the federal government says “ok sure, knock yourself out.”
Ass backwards are the laws of marijuana.

  15. Wow, more of us should be getting behind Ron Paul. That man should be our president. What a free flowing, articulate, honest person.

  16. I hope with Ron Paul and the majority of congress Marijuana laws will change! I need it for medical purposes. I receive GHB by prescription which I hate I wish it were Medical Marijuana instead! I hate NC!

  17. I hope with Ron Paul and the majority of congress Marijuana laws will change! I need it for medical purposes. I receive GHB by prescription which I hate!I wish it were Medical Marijuana instead! I hate NC!

  18. So this is what it comes to, A bad actor debating a bad comedian. I read all this glorification of Ron Paul and want to wretch. I know I say on every post to vote for anyone other than Prohibitionist Democrats or Republicans, but I’d much sooner vote for either George Bush before ever voting for Ron Paul. Does that piss you off. Do Some research. After dropping out of the 2008 race YOUR hero Ron Paul endorsed Chuck Baldwin and the Constitution Party. Go to the Chuck Baldwin website and then try to tell me that he’s going to let anyone smoke marijuana in peace. It’s like voting for Jerry Falwell. THE MORE I READ THE POST ON THIS SITE THE LESS I WONDER WHY THINGS ARE IN THE SAD STATE THERE IN.

  19. The debate was ridiculous. It would have been so much more interesting if CNN had even remotely tried to get someone with some kind of credentials or even someone who could back their BS with resources and references.
I made a video rebuttal that is on my GoVaporize blog as well as my YouTube channel of the same name.
    Peace
    Teahupoo

  20. I think Baldwin is working with the cartels, maybe thats why he doesent want marijuana legalized.
If only Ron Paul was younger.

  21. Comment 86, Jeremy, on your Idaho Congressman was funny.
Congressman Mike Simpson took $10,000 from the National Beer Wholesalers Assn. and then says pot smokers should be locked in cages.
    Google “Mike Simpson Beer Wholesaler”
My own Congressman also takes bribes from the same PAC.

  22. I like how Ron Paul when asked if he ever smoked pot…he said, “I’ve never been in the room when some one ELSE smoked pot”…..Hahahahaha

  23. STEVE BALDWIN WAS COKED OUT HIS FUCKIN MIND.. IT LOOK LIKE HE JUST GOT DONE SNIFFIN AN 8 BALL..WHAT A FUCKIN LOSSER! LOL YES THATS LOSER WITH 2 “S’s”

  24. Edgar & Jim are crackin me up! #87 & #97 are both right, but #73 has the right idea if any reform is to take place. Isn’t it time we looked around and said enough is enough; The justice department has made enough money from this prohibition. That $ has spilled over into every “law-enforcers” pocket. (nobody calls them peace-keepers anymore)For example, how many law-enforcers do u know of that own homes,SUVs,boats &(fuel for boats),plus time to get to the water? How many pot-smokers,not dealers,do u know of that have it that easy? i can’t even get a decent job without having to piss in a cup for some jerk who is testing it and probably smoking too.
Back to what i was trying to say, the government doesn’t like amputating itself, but we should look at trying to get our government to divide itself. For mj reform to happen, we need to look at what we have and implement it. the D.E.A.should colaborate with the D in the F.D.A.and the Food admin should really look hard in the mirror and come correct. Half of our food is imported and that is BS! We need more farmers, farms, and food inspectors. The food and drug admin is too big for itself and should divide. Law enforcers could keep their pay, but their job title could change to food inspector or something like that. Also, nursing homes are the real problem to mj reform; they don’t want us using home-health care, they make too much $ from insurance and medical companies to let you die in piece at home with your loved-ones.
Something has to be done for those who are incarserated. The prisoners need to be released, compensated, relieved or pardoned from wrong-doing so they can get back into society and continue to be productive.
As far as gate-way goes, im 32, and smoked for half my life, but just recently tried heroin. H was too much like LSD, im too old for that intense shit, and decided to just stick with good old reefer. Alcohol is the hardest stuff out there, hands down.

  25. Greetings all members,
I would just like to say hello and let you know that I’m happy to be a member – been a lurker long enough ๐Ÿ™‚
Hope to contribute some and gain some knowledge along the way….

  26. As a firm believer in Christ, I don’t understand how Baldwin can come at this claiming faith based viewpoint. How can he agree with the persecution of millions of innocent, harmless smokers and be against the compassion of dying people who want an alternative to harsh chemical drugs that cause more sickness and death? Christianity is about life, compassion, love for one another, freedom, happiness, and above all, God. Does he think Jesus would have been for persecuting the sick? IMO, Baldwin is what I consider immature in his faith, thinking it is his job to save the world and be a perfect example. And this gateway stance??? Please, smoking marijuana kept me from drinking more heavily when I was young and kept me from looking for other types of drugs. I guess, maybe, if I couldn’t find any smoke, I may have been tempted to take whatever else was available, for recreation and socializing as a teenager. If it was legal and available, no one would have that problem.
What is he thinking. The only thing I (as a Christian) think is wrong with pot, is it can become habitual and make you forget to build your relationship with God. On the other hand, it has helped me at many times to give me spiritual enlightenments. It can help you realize how screwed up the world is as compared to how it was meant to be as God intended.
Michael, bless you for your efforts, but its time for you to get off your high horse of holier than thou and plant simple seeds to fruit. Trying to force your beliefs and save everyone just pushes them away because they look at you and don’t want to be like that. Thank God I grew up and realized that I didn’t need to go to Church to be accepted by people like yourself and decided to go for myself to build my relationship with God. It was people displaying your current attitude that kept me out of Church for 20+ years. Please, stop thinking that you know what you’re talking about and be more like your brother. At least he’s hilarious. But you should also realize you are now supporting just what the big, evil corporations and governors want you to support. You should know how God feels about them. Amen.

All of you are very correct and Jim you are a very astute man, so I will leave you with this:
To be governed is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be governed is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonoured. That is government; that is it’s justice; that is it’s morality.
    Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

  28. Steven Baldwin doesn’t seem to understand why God created this sacred herb. The healing properties of ganja are miraculous. Listen to Grammy award winner Melissa Etheridge talk about her battle with breast cancer and how medicinal marijuana restored her health:

  29. This is definitely awesome! It’s a really helpful article and I hope you could also get to visit my site so we can permeate ideas when it comes to legalizing medical marijuana. Please drop some comments and let us know what you think about our newly created website.
