For the second time this legislative session, members of the House have advanced legislation to establish a regulated, adult-use cannabis market.

“This is an important first step in the process of ending all penalties for cannabis possession and ensuring Rhode Islanders have access to regulated and tested cannabis products, just like New Englanders already have in neighboring states,” says Jax James, NORML’s State Policy Manager.
NORML PAC endorsed US Senate candidate John Fetterman won the state’s Democratic primary by a large margin.
The Delaware Senate approved legislation to remove criminal and civil penalties for adult possession of limited quantities of marijuana. In a 13-7-1 vote, the upper chamber voted to pass HB 371, which legalized the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana for individuals aged 21 or older.
“The majority of the New Hampshire Senate is clearly out of step with the will of the voters,” said NORML’s State Policies Manager Jax James. “The continued failure by the Senate to advance House-passed cannabis reform legislation should not go without response from voters.”
With the 2022 legislative session having already ended, this vote effectively ends any further discussion of the legislation this year.
While granting clemency to nine individuals for federal marijuana offenses is the right thing to do, it is woefully inadequate when there remain over 10,000 individuals who still suffer under the weight of a federal charge on their criminal record.
For millions of Americans, April 20th is a day for celebration. And we certainly have plenty to celebrate.
